USVI-4-me Posted June 29, 2010 #352 Share Posted June 29, 2010 Some people are allergic to perfume A perfume allergy occurs when the body has a hypersensitivity reaction to certain chemicals within a perfume or fragrance from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfume_allergy Thank you for posting the link. That's my problem. Reason why I have trouble flying and going to the MDR on cruises. I appreciate your post. -Maris

Ex-vogue model Posted June 29, 2010 #354 Share Posted June 29, 2010 I have read some horror stories on this forum, however on our first cruise with RCCL Jewel of the Seas last year, hubby and I decided to visit the disco after a superb dinner and a good win at the casino - well 20 dollars which is good for us! We took our place at the revolving bar and ordered drinks and were looking forward to a dance. Suddenly, the bar stopped revolving and the lights came fully on. We asked the bar tender what was happening and he said to quote 'there is some s**t going down'. We weren't quite sure what he meant so asked him again and he very eloquently stated that someone had pooped on the dance floor. Sure enough, there on the dance floor was a big dollop of poop that someone had kindly left before they departed for bed. For first timers on a four star cruise ship, we were shocked to say the least. Needless to say it was quickly removed, the dance floor was disinfected and no one was allowed to dance for the rest of the night. We didn't visit the disco again and chose to spend our evenings in the other bar areas. I really can't understand what makes people do these things:(
sarplum Posted June 29, 2010 #355 Share Posted June 29, 2010 Recent cruise, Father and mother, together weighed 600 - 700 lbs, in wheel chairs pushed by two adult children each weighing in the 290-300 range. At mealltime this family would pratically run you over to be the first in line to eat. Didn't matter where breakfast, lunch dinner there they were with their shovels and troughs. Hard to be sympathetic when they have just run over your foot to be at the head of the line.[/q In the MDR ? Why? If you wanted to avoid Gargantua, why not have breakfast in your room and the other meals in the MDR?

markvk Posted June 30, 2010 #362 Share Posted June 30, 2010 Here is a gross one for you. Mariner of the Seas March 07, I walk into the spa to visit the steam room. It is full of a bunch of really old men with towels only and 1 old man completely naked. Gross..(I am 36) I decide to go to the Sauna instead. 2 mins later one of the old men ,probably around 80 or so, comes in to the Sauna also but decides it is not hot enough. He leaves and proceeds directly outside the sauna to an empty shower across the aisle. I can see the shower directly to my right through the glass door of the Sauna. Another gentleman came in the Sauna and upon opening the door caught my attention. As I looked to the door I could not help but see the 80 yr old man in the shower across the aisle with his shower door half open-hope this is not too rude- he was "pulling his goalie" if you know what I mean. The sight of that pretty much ended my stay in the Sauna and the Spa. Told my Wife about it she laughed. I felt traumatized. That evening I swear I met him and his wife in the elevator which made it even more uncomfortable. I am not sure if I will ever go into the spa on any ship again. :(
kitty9 Posted June 30, 2010 #363 Share Posted June 30, 2010 Two instances for cruises. One, a man who was wearing a speedo, sans good elastic, sitting with his legs folded, and his little midget dill hanging out. The second was a man who was wearing a bathing suit, with bare feet, walking through the buffet, scratching those bare feet and then pick up food at the buffet using the serving spoons. Totally gross.
kitty9 Posted June 30, 2010 #364 Share Posted June 30, 2010 One of the best posts I have ever read and I totally agree. A baby receives immunity up to 6 months from breast feeding. After that time nutrition and dental needs begin to change. Breast feeding a child (not a baby) in public becomes exibitionist:o and makes most people very uncomfortable (JMHO). There was a thread a while back where a woman was still breast feeding a four year old. I can see it a few years from now. "Mom, I'm going to prom, but I'll be home in time to breast feed before heading out to the post prom party". Or this one, "Mom, what time can you come over to the kid's club to breast feed me? Oh, they don't allow parents into the kid's club? What will I do for lunch?"

02143 Posted June 30, 2010 #369 Share Posted June 30, 2010 On my very first cruise, on the Infinity to Alaska, I went to warm up in the Sauna as we sailed out of Skagway. Right in the middle was a pile of excrement. I never went back to that Sauna. No amount of cleaning could make me go back there. It was just so gross. I was on Eurodam last week and at one point they were hosing out one of the small, free saunas for this very reason. From what I saw briefly I thought it was a bathroom plumbing problem, but when I walked by later I saw there was no bathroom in the area. Much sympathy for the clean-up crew. maxsales Posted June 30, 2010 #371 Share Posted June 30, 2010 Oceanview Cafe'- an older lady in line next to me, reaching in and grabbing a roll w/ her hand, when the plastic tongs were right in front of her. I leaned over and reminded her to use the tongs. She just gave me the stinkeye and kept shuffling. Not horribly gross, but gross enough for me. Who knows if she's one of the 'don't flush, don't handwash' gang? YEECCHHH:eek: Did her hand touch anything other then the roll she was eating? If not no big deal. Room Service! Posted July 14, 2010 #373 Share Posted July 14, 2010 I'm hoping they have, but if they haven't, I hope they all sail on your ship. Just kidding. Is interesting reading. ocbeachbums Posted July 14, 2010 #374 Share Posted July 14, 2010 After spending quite a bit of time reading this thread and ---Laughing:)--gagging:eek:---ewwwwng:eek:---- and shaking my head:confused:--- I felt I had to explain why I NEVER go in a cruise ship hot tub. We own a hot tub and you cannot believe how easy it is to get the PH totally out of balance!! If you happen to go into one with a bad PH you get this condition that we call "hot-tub-itis." It is supposed to be VERY uncomfortable with rashs all over your body, extreme itching and antibiotics the cure. So EWWWWWW!!! Not me in the hot tubs!!!:eek:
CathyCruises Posted July 14, 2010 #375 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Ha! That reminds me of a funny story. We were cruising in a group of 13 on Crystal years ago. One high-powered CA politician in our group. When we would sit in the hot tubs, he would get a bit warm, and the dark hair dye would just drip out of his hair and run down his face and onto his shoulders!!! I had forgotten that mental picture until I read this post! I don't recall it ever getting as far as the water--but who knows!
