Cruisin'Col Posted July 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2010 There is a group of 17 of us going to the Mexican Riviera in Oct. My bro in law (and many others) hate the sea days because he/they get bored with the limited (many feel) activities. I've been trying to come up with some group activities/competitions or games we can play (other than just cards) to liven up the sea days. Any ideas? Rare Keith1010 Posted July 22, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Most ships have table tennis (ping pong) and shuffleboard which are two games you can all play. There are also various games such as trivial pursuit. Keith
lady_cruiser Posted July 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2010 If your ship has a miniature golf course on it have a tournament. You can buy plastic tropheys at any party store. You can also have your own scanverger hunt. Just don't make it too hard or too easy. You can ask for a pen or pencil with the ship's name, a casino chip, empty beer or coke can, paper napkin, menu from the ship, etc.
MissRabbit Posted July 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2010 hit the dollar store up before you go to get small items needed to host your own "Minute To Win It" challenges. It'll keep you entertained for a long time having competitions and tournaments and since each challenge is so different, keeps things fresh and new. Heck, you might end up having other pax want to join in!

You could easily come up with 100 items that are able to be found on a cruise ship or from other passengers (like a spare button). Set a time limit, person with the most items collected in that time wins!
Fergus Posted July 23, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2010 LOVE the Minute to Win it idea! Several years ago, we had a big family reunion and someone created a crossword puzzle that had an answer for every member of the family......it would require some prep work, but might be fun if there are a lot who don't fancy the overly active stuff. Or tailor your scavenger hunt to fit your group - make the clues relative to past experiences, trips, holidays, etc. your group has been together for. cruiserking Posted July 23, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 23, 2010 Why not split your group up into several smaller teams and compete in the daily bouts of Pub Trivia. These are always very popular and well attended events and some of the cruise lines even reward the winners prizes. Jonathan

Cruisin'Col Posted July 24, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted July 24, 2010 I am scheduled for a Cruise on the Splendor in Oct. My husband, bro & I are in a corner room (#6450), w/ a wrap around balcony. Has anyone stayed in one of those? I have tried to get a virtual tour, but there is not one for those rooms. It is a 9B room, I think. How is the configuration, sofa, balcony, bathroom, etc. The room are no more sq. ft. in that room vs. a regular balcony, but I know the arrangement is different. Also, how do I find out if I am in a non-smoking room. I thought all rooms on starboard side could be smoking & on port side were non. Smoking is a problem since I have asthma. Thanks.
