Bakincakes Posted July 23, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2010 The only smoking going on in the MDR is coming from well done steaks.

scottbee Posted July 23, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2010 I thought that there was no smoking in the MDR on any RCI ship. Is that true? Thanks! Any smoking detected in the Main Dining Room will be treated as a fire, and appropriate fire control measures used OK; maybe that's just wishful thinking
Rare silentbob007 Posted July 24, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2010 I was on a cruise once where some Europeans lit up during the meal ... I've never seen a crew member onboard move so fast to tell someone they couldn't do something ....
Stags14 Posted July 24, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2010 ... could you imagine? It's bad enough I can barely enjoy a pint at the ships bars and pubs - if I couldn't eat it would be a deal breaker!
cruisinfanatic Posted July 24, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 24, 2010 I thought that there was no smoking in the MDR on any RCI ship. Is that true? Thanks! In 20 years of cruising, I have never seen someone smoke in the dining room. Why the question?

Sue L Posted July 24, 2010 #11 Share Posted July 24, 2010 I remember smoking allowed in the MDR. Maybe 15 years ago, they stopped don't remember exactly. It was allowed in the show room also. Can't imagine it now
PhoenixCruiser Posted July 24, 2010 #12 Share Posted July 24, 2010 I remember smoking allowed in the MDR. Maybe 15 years ago, they stopped don't remember exactly. It was allowed in the show room also. Can't imagine it now Hey Sue :D Smoking was also allowed in grocery stores umpteen years ago  Our first RCCL cruise was in 1997 and smoking wasn't allowed in the MDR. The OP has been on the Freedom recently and that is why I don't understand why they started this thread  Perhaps to stir a pot or two :( ###

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted July 24, 2010 #14 Share Posted July 24, 2010 I remember being sat in a school classroom and the teacher would be smoking cigarettes. Another would smoke a pipe.

famcruiser Posted July 24, 2010 Author #16 Share Posted July 24, 2010 I asked this question because my parents reservation says "First/Smoking" for the dining request. I knew (or thought I knew) that there was no smoking in the MDR. But, we can't figure out why it says that. I have sent an e-mail to my TA, but haven't heard back from her, yet. Maybe, it's just a typo.
