Carnival Imagination

Monday, Aug 23rd : Embarkation

We took our time getting off the ship, last call was 9:30 a.m and we were off the ship at 9:40 a.m. Gathered our luggage, went through customs. Once outside we ripped off the Destiny luggage tags and replaced them with the Imagination tags.

We then lugged our six pieces of luggage ( one suitcase each, plus garment bag and another for misc, a lot but then again we’re gone for 30 days) along with carry on bags such as laptop, collapsible cooler, cameras, etc to the terminal next door.

Gave our luggage to the porters and went through security at 10:05 a.m. Remember the 2 bottles of liquor I purchased on the Destiny? Well I turned those over to security without even trying to sneak them on.

We filled out the health questionnaire, got our sail & sign cards and receive zone 1 for boarding. However since we had checked off on the questionnaire that we had been to Mexico within the last 7 days, we were led to a room, waited about 20 mins and a nurse came to question us and

took our temperature. All was fine and we were on our way.

Boarding started at 11:28 a.m for VIP and zone 1 and therefore we were on the ship by 11:32p.m. Had lunch on the lido deck and as usual Tracy stayed with the carry on while the rest of us went to photograph and explore the ship.

Imagination is a beautiful ship. We both found that the decor, in our opinion, was nicer than on the Sensation or the Destiny. On the other hand, we found it more difficult to navigate compared to the Destiny even tho we were on the Sensation last year. ( Same class of ship and almost identical layout).

We were on the Destiny this summer and REALLY enjoyed the entire time. Did you, by chacne get to know any of the bartenders pictured here? The chairs right by the steps that led to the bar were ours virtually all week. We were trying to remember the taller of bartenders working in your picture, do you know it? They remembered mine, my wifes and both kids names the entire cruise, they were fabulous. Sean was the other one, but he was going back home a couple weeks after our cruise to see his family.

For those who do not know, the owner's suite is situated just below Carnival Imagination name. All those windows are part of the suite. No, this is not our room, just wanted to point it out.

Our cabins U148 Ocean View and U150 Inside were ready at 1:30 p.m and our luggage arrived within minutes after that. Our cabins appeared smaller than on the Destiny, a chair instead of a sofa, no refrigerator, however, a flat screen TV compared to the older model on the Destiny. We booked these rooms because they were next to the laundry room which comes in handy.

I love the atriums on fantasy class ships (Imagination, Sensation, ect.). Destiny and the Conquest class ships (Valor & Freedom, etc.) only have half atrium after the third floor. The Fantasy class ship have it open all the way to the top with full glass dome ceiling.

Like everybody else we headed for the lido deck and had lunch. Afterwards Tracy stayed with the carry on luggage while I went exploring/ photographing the ship. In my opinion Destiny is a beautiful ship, easy to get around. Our cabins were ready at 1:40 p.m. Rooms 1109 and 1115 forward section, category PT, portholes.

More later

Did the port holes open for fresh air or just for light?

Hello fellow NBer.

I am absolutely loving your review. My DDs and I will be on the Destiny in January and I am so thankful that someone finally wrote a favorable review. I was getting worried. Keep it coming.

Not absolutely sure but I think this is the Pride Dining Room. Fwd section. The other dining room is the Spirit Dining Room, Aft section. We had a table for 4 by the window.

Fantasy class ships (Imagination, Sensation, etc) dining rooms are on a single floor while the Destiny, Conquest and Spirit classes are on two floors. I prefer two floors because they present an air of grandeur.
