What do you end up spending during your cruise

Recommended Posts

About $100-$150 a day here, too. I usually get the drink of the day and a specialty coffee in the morning and at night. I buy stuff in the stores and I always buy the little ship models. But my biggest bill is for the photos. I scrapbook and those photos are a big part of my albums. I also buy two 8x10s to give as a Christmas gift to my parents and my brother. We've been exchanging these formal pix for years and I love being able to see how we've all changed over the years. I feel no guilt whatsoever when I get the final bill because everything I purchase makes me happy and it has all been budgeted for.

I usually book early, then plan it all out. Excursions, soda card, tips, with extra $ in case, lunches in ports, some spending money in each port, anything I can think of. I start an envelope and add to it as often as I can so when it is time for the cruise, I have those things covered. Even it is just goes to pay the credit card bill when I get back. Most of my bill is the bar bill.

We spent about $650 on a 9 night. DH stopped drinking on day 7. That included 1 RCL excursion.

Outside of tips and excursions (which we usually book independently), our Sea Pass bill for our family of 4 is usually $100-200 total. On our last cruise, all we bought was one soda card, one photo, one gift shop souvenir, and $75 internet package for approx $200 total. On our last Mariner cruise, all we bought was one photo for $20 total.

We don't drink alcohol, gamble, use the arcade, dine in the specialty restaurants, etc.

How come only one soda card..how do you get away with only one. We are a family of 3 on the Enchanment..

How exactly does the money work? Can you add a certain dollar amount to your cruise card and when its gone its gone or does it just link up to your debit card? Is there a way to check the balance throughout the duration of the cruise?

You can add a certain amount to your sea pass card or use your CC or debit card. I always have the money ahead of time on my CC so when I come back home theres no big bill waiting for me. As others have said you're on vacation..enjoy..its only money.

I think it depends on the itinerary, the people you are with and what your interests are.

If you are on a port-intensive cruise, you will be off the ship all day and pretty tired in the evening, thus spending less on board (but maybe more on shore). On a cruise with a lot of sea days we tend to spend more. If you are with a group of friends and have a good time in the bar, the charges can mount. We do not play bingo or go to the casino, we DIY our port days, I don't drink alcohol (although DH likes a good wine or whisky), we don't use the spa. I drink tea all day and DH coffee, and no soda whatsoever, so we did not need a soda card either. Unfortunately, on our last cruise, the pictures were not very good, otherwise we might have bought some.

Hi CC members!

Just wondering how much you end up spending on your cruise other than alcohol, soda/water packages, casino, bingo & excursions.

Do you find it adds up?

This is our 1st cruise and we "plan" to keep purchases to a minimum, but find it could add up.

We plan to purchase cupcakes, the cupcake decorating class, maybe dine at 150 Central Park, a small internet package, and buy an Oasis of the Seas souveneir.

We havent been on Oasis yet. But, in general other than what you expect (above), pictures, souveniers, tips for room service. Alcohol is the big ticket spending on board. In port, there is a lot of spending, or can be. Transportation (bus?), lunch, loungers/umbrellas, more beverages :), ETC.

I wont tell you what our seapass bill is at the end of a 9 night with 4 of us on board. Others have mentioned well above $1,000++ We dont budget-cruise. We totally enjoy!

How much is a coffee card and what does it cover as far as specialty coffees?

I spent less than I was expecting on my recent cruise. After all was said and done, with excursions (RCI and private), drinks, gambling, Johnny rockets, tips, etc, I budgeted for $1000 but kept it under $400.

One thing when I book excursions though, if possible I try to do all inclusives. If it says drinks and/or food is included, then I will seriously consider it. Haha.

Hello,

We usually only get a picture, which of course is paid for with our OBC. We then have to get the rest of the OBC back thru various means. Our bill is between 0 and $10.

Regards,

R

How is this possible?! Nothing? No excursions, not one drink? No specialty food?

Excluding alcohol, soda/water packages, casino, bingo & excursions we spent $650 on dinner at Chops, jewelry for me, and misc items (such as a cheapie pair of suglasses) when DH's broke. Including excursions we spent about $900 for a 7 night cruise. We use or obc for drinks as we are not heavy drinkers.

I only have one cruise to base spending off of, it was a 4 night with Carnival, with one port being cancelled due to swine flu, my wife and I spent about $700.00 between casino and booze. We'll see how much a 7 night runs us this time.
