Rare lv2cruisgrl Posted October 17, 2010 #102 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks so much for the pic, we are going to be in this same JS next week!! :) Rooms were ready at 1:00. I had Junior Suite 14632. I took a chance with this room under the pool deck because I wanted the views from the high deck. I was pretty lucky through the week. There was very little noise from above. I believe my room was under the forward part of the H2O Zone. Room sizes were advertised as being slightly smaller than RCI's most recent classes of ships. I did not notice a difference in the JS. However, my parents were in a D balcony and the size difference was noticable. If anyone is familiar with the Solstice Class rooms, these rooms are designed exactly the same. Here are a couple shots of my room. I was so happy to see RCI got away from those pink and green colors from Voyager Class: This is the walk-in closet:

Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #104 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Day 6 started out with a medical emergency. Oasis had to divert to San Juan to transfer a patient to the USCG. I was in the Solarium, and it provided a good photo opportunity of San Juan. Thats is...right up until this guy decided to stand in front of me... Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #106 Share Posted October 17, 2010 We decided to try the Seafood Shack for lunch. Seafood Shack is pay-per-item. They had a seafood basket for two for $9. The food was ok, but it was not good enough to want to do again. Everything was fried. Living on an island, I'm used to good seafood. I guess that ruined it a little for me also. Here is the menu:

Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #108 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Next was the Belly Flop Contest. Normally, I avoid these things, but Oasis takes it to a whole new level. They made a show out of it in the Aqua Theater. The floppers were introduced like celebrities and their "stats" were shown on the big screens. Additionally, they had an underwater camera that showed the floppers submerged. It was also shown on the big screens. Also, like Quest, they did instant replay in slow motion. This show is worth seeing.

canucks4 Posted October 17, 2010 #110 Share Posted October 17, 2010 OH My! I had to call in Big Daddy to show him the Belly Flop photos. He's an 8 time gold champion, retiring he said, after our last cruise on the Voyager in March...but now, Aqua Theatre, cameras....I'm thinking he might come out of retirement!! Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #111 Share Posted October 17, 2010 After the Belly Flop, we wandered down the aft stairs to the jogging track and relaxed in the wood chairs facing aft. A rainbow appeared. And then something interesting happened. Bales of weed, aka "Square Groupers" are very common in these waters. But to see one from a cruise ship is rare. I was slow to get my camera out and it went by so fast, but you can click on the picture and zoom in on the object. I instantly recognized what it was when I saw it. Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #112 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Day 6 was the second formal night. DW had the lobster and I had the Prime Rib. Once again, great meals with no complaints. Our show this night was "Come Fly With Me." It was a production show with the Oasis singers and dancers. They did a great job with it. The set and the aerial acrobatics were better than most RCI shows. It was this night the show was preceded by Richard Spacey's "Evolution of Dance" routine. It was hilarious. Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #114 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Our party decided to head up to the Viking Crown Lounge for cocktails. This was our first time in this lounge. It was a different set up than other RCI ships, but it was very roomy and comfortable. I had an espresso martini. The band was good and they played Sinatra style music you could dance to. Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #115 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Day 6 was topped off with Club Twenty. This is a Miami Beach style dance party. It was held up on the second deck of the Solarium. Many of the ship's staff and the singers, dancers, and show actors were there enjoying themselves. petesweet Posted October 17, 2010 #118 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Whoever designed the Oasis photo area is a genius. I don't know what took them so long to think of this. On my Sea Pass, it said Photo#- 2-48. I had no clue what that meant until I saw the photo area called "Focus." This goes back to the facial recognition thing. All of the photos taken of you are put in to an album. The albums are arranged numerically on pods. So, I had to find pod #2, album #48. You grab your album, and all your photos are right there in it. No more scanning thousands of pictures on a wall with shoulder-to-shoulder people trying to find yourself. There was still a wall in the back for the occasional photos not picked up by the software. So will my roommate and I each have our own album (we do not always do everything together)? or one album with various pictures of each of us? In other words, do they do it by cabin? or by individual? (Either way is fine with me.) Kathy

Animal Rescue Posted October 17, 2010 #120 Share Posted October 17, 2010 After a wild night in Dazzles, we walked the outer decks to get some night shots of the ship. What breathtaking views! I love seeing photos that were taken at night. Really gives a different perspective. Just have to ask - how long does it take to learn the lay of the land, so to speak, on this ship? We'd like to take a cruise on the Oasis as well and it's great to gather information from others. Thanks for the terrific review.

Thanks for the terrific review. It does take a while. Even 3 or 4 days in to it, I was still getting turned around. It's really easy to do in the Promenade. It took me a couple days to realize the car faces forward. So will my roommate and I each have our own album (we do not always do everything together)? or one album with various pictures of each of us? In other words, do they do it by cabin? or by individual? (Either way is fine with me.) Kathy I really don't know for sure, but my guess would be together. I believe the albums go by room. Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #124 Share Posted October 17, 2010 First thing Friday, we headed up to the Sports Deck. The zip line opened at 9:00 and we were the first on it. It only takes about 5 seconds from beginning to end, but it is worth it. It was fun. Next was lunch. We ate in Izumi, the sushi restaurant. Izumi was very good. This is another pay-per-item restaurant. We had a snow crab roll, tuna roll, and a rainbow roll. All were delicious.
Aquahound Posted October 17, 2010 Author #125 Share Posted October 17, 2010 At 1:00, as a Diamond Plus perk, we had a galley tour. I found this very interesting since it was the galley tour I had been on. This is the galley bar where they make your drinks: The grill line: The chef giving us a dessert platter:
