chasm4u Posted November 7, 2010 #101 Share Posted November 7, 2010 is that I have replaced one addiction . WOW! arent you moving down the nicotine mg's? I mean once you get to zero you shouldnt be addicted anymore! ;) seriously. I am about to move from 18mg to 8 mg the next move after that is ZERO! It doesnt have to be a habit if you dont want it too! It makes me think those who say this is their new addiction havn't really tried them! Especially if they are using zero nicotine carts! THEN AGAIN I guess you could get addicted to the patch or nicorette as well! *SHRUGS* I mean p[eople get addicted to flintstone vitamins too! so I guess its possible but you can use it to get rid of your addiction completely! P.S. its is not an opinion if it is fact and it IS a fact that if I am forced to vape in the smoking section I will be smoking again!
LHP Posted November 7, 2010 #102 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Replacing one addiction with another is a personal choice, all of us have bad habits. I think ecigs should be encouraged, especially on a cruise. Ecigs lower the bar and open the door for making more places non-smoking. So true !! While it is a correct statement that E Cigs replace one addiction with another, the E Cig does not inflict someone's addiction on an innocent human being. This is the biggest (and best) difference....

While it is a correct statement that E Cigs replace one addiction with another, the E Cig does not inflict someone's addiction on an innocent human being. This is the biggest (and best) difference.... Its probably more "semantics" than anything else, but I see and hear NON-SMOKERS make this incorrect distinction more than anyone else. Especially those that pooh pooh ecigs and try and mock e-cig users with "toy" statements, etc. (definitely not LHP, however):) Vapers are not REPLACING any addiction. ITS THE SAME ADDICTION. Before we got NICOTINE into our circulatory system with analog cigarettes. The big disadvantage to cigs is all the other stuff in the tobacco and paper of a cigarette. Around 3000-4000 carcinogens (depending on who's talking to you). Now with E-cigs we're still putting NICOTINE into our circulatory system, but without all the carcinogens in analog cigarettes. The "delivery" system has changed, but the ADDICTION IS STILL THE SAME. Because one can get different levels of NICOTINE in their e-liquids, this method does offer an opportunity to "wean" oneself off even NICOTINE if they so wish, which analog cigarettes never have.:) If when you say we're replacing one "addiction" with another and you actually mean replacing the METHOD of NICOTINE DELIVERY then disregard this mild rant. :D

Replacing the "delivery method" (and eliminating a HUGE amount of the other bad stuff in the process) was what I meant. As a nonsmoker, I am THRILLED about any device that helps a smoker AND the nonsmoker. E Cigs seem to do the trick..... :D
popsec Posted November 7, 2010 #105 Share Posted November 7, 2010 I haven't had a cigarette since I got my first e-cig over a year and a half ago. What an awesome alternative they are! As far as using them on the ships goes we ran into the captain (Alessandro Galotto) in the casino on the Pride and he mentioned that he uses an electronic cigarette also. I asked him about any regulations Carnival might have as to their use and he said there were none yet. He said he actually sneaks a drag or 2 when he's in the lounge watching a show. As for those who say they should only be allowed in smoking areas, hogwash!....there's no smell, no smoke....and you'd never know I was using one unless you happened to see the vapor. Couldn't have said that better popsec :) Considering the great amount of controversary cigarette smoke causes for those that cruise (be they smokers or non-smokers) e-cigs are a wonderful way to put that controversary to an end and make both sides of the issue happy. IMHO the e-cig really needs to be called by another name to distinquish it apart from "cigarettes" as it really is very different but for many people simply hearing the name "electronic cigarette" allows them to assume it has all the same negatives that cigarettes possess when in fact it does not.
