$10p.p to eat at night Kings Court area

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO buckirj1: I didn't take a transatlantic crossing. It went to the Carribbean. However, the Kings Court at the resturants you needed a reservation for sometimes it was fully booked. However, if you know who to speak to he might be able to get you in. Some of the resturants at night have a tablecloth setting. Not so during the day. The buffett alternates between resturants up there. One night it might be in La Piazzia another night it might be in the Carvery or another resturant.

Even if Cunard puts a surcharge on the Kings Court resturants of $10 a person it is still well worth it.

Easy to say when you didn't have to pay isn't it? You got it included in the price of your cruise didn't you? Well I knew it was included in the price of my cruise as well until Cunard moves the goalposts I won't be paying to eat in " La Piazzia" or any other of the places in King? Court:mad:

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Gugi: First, why would anyone want to add me to their list of contacts? Who says I would neccessarily want them as a contact?

It isn't unreasonable to charge $10 a person to eat at the Kings Court. Some alternative resturants have a higher surcharge to eat there. The food and service was better in Kings Court. If you want substandard service such as the waiter bringing you something you never ordered and/or didn't want or food that won't kill you, but, doesn't taste good then eat at the Brittannia resturant. Also, at the Brittannia resturant we had a long wait between courses and an even longer wait for dessert.

rafinmd. You may also wish to enquire re the menu for the night you have in mind as they do have "themes"

I did not eat dinner in any alternative areas, for as stated not one of my table companions felt the charge was justified.

Yes there were problems with the service in Britannia, Cunard had taken so many "good" staff for the QE, and brought in "untrained" bodies. Hopefully as time goes by, they will learn their trade, and the complaints so many people made to the "one's in charge" will be heeded.

Would I eat in KC (any area ) at dinner, the answer is an absolute "NO". not even if it is "free".

We have just been twice on QM2, service in the Britannia was excellent, 2 different sets of waiters, not one problem.

We also had really excellent tablemates both times, everybody came on time and came every night, that makes a difference.

I have been in the Grills many times before and for us the service was no better there than in Britannia.

Kings Court - if they had paid me $10 I wouldn't have bothered going there.

The mayhem that is Kings Court in the daytime is enough to put me off the place for life, let alone dinnertime.

Its a zoo most of the time, the only good thing is that you can get plenty of jam and cream for your scone rather than the tiny squirt you get in the Queens Room at teatime, hardly makes up for the caff surroundings though.

So the short answer is that we didn't go to Kings Court when it was free, and we certainly shall not go now they are trying to charge.

But I do think Cunard should credit the account of anyone who booked before the new charge was announced, it doesn't surprise me that they won't, I am still waiting for a reply from customer service from a month ago about cruddy cabin water.

And this, I think, may be the reasoning behind the charge. Casino, can you (or Jimsgirl) tell us if the Kings Court evening restaurants were fully booked on your crossing? Hope you had a good time.

We were in the grills, but noticed that the Kings Court restaurants booked up during "tasting" nights. The food there is quite good during those times.

That was a complaint we heard many times..that good staff was taken to train staff on the QE. The staff in the Q-Grill stayed. Which is why we had stellar service. Some had helped train but only for short durations. A pleasure seeing you in Sir Samuals.

Kings Court ..well it is mostly the jesters ...

Playing Passenger Bumpers is never fun .. and lack of attention to detail in any Service Area is awful..eh.. that's why we like to not go there if possible...

We did reserve at Chefs and liked the preparation in quality and taste. Not temperature nor how it was represented in the Menues outside vs inside..etc.. and measurements..That is supposed to be $30 USD PP for Dinner soon.

It says 20 people and 24 seats filled were there..

The whole ships galleys run on a 21 day menu selection..some dishes are repeated and too often..

On the HIGH COSTING / Pay / eat as you cruise areas are increasing soon and thusly the menu changes shall as well.

It is a personal choice. But alas the company with only three ships now has to devise ways of increasing revenues generated.. you saw they even charge for sea-sick pills for the needy at the Pursers now.. etc..etc...

I wonder why not for quality made tea and coffee beverages?

The sister line Princess/P&O does.

having had far from pleasant experiances with Britannia we have now given up and eat at Kings Court most evenings. The Carvary is excellent the food is tasty and the service first class. The only negative is that the menu remains constant. It is a mistake to compare the evening service in the "restaurants" in Kings Court with the daytime scrum it really is a pleasant transformation.

However I must admit the new charge does not please me in the least, smacks of being just a little too greedy - I will still eat there though.

In my very limited experience, they're popular venues for sure, likely because of the reasons you state. I suppose it was only a matter of time before Cunard decided to make money from the Kings Court restaurants. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, but I'll be curious as to whether or not the restaurants will continue in popularity now that the surcharge has kicked in.

If you go to Sir Samuel's there is a charge for quality coffee. It is very good and worth the extra cost.

i have been on the phone to Cunard spoke to a very nice girl but she did not now anything about the new charges, she even rang the restaurant and they were not sure when it is happening , she had to keep going back and forth to her team manager to get me information, I was on to them for 38 mins from Spain and they could not ring out!!!! what kind of service is this,I do not blame the girl I spoke to she is probably being paid buttons and has not had any training, very bad for a company that I thought cares about its image it if not its customers

If this is Luxury Cruising what are the others like:eek:
