Local FOX news just interviewed a Debbie Blocker (Fox employee, I think) that is on the SPLENDOR with 35 other members of her family. She applauds Carnival up and down . . . 90% according to her are happy cruisers, especially in the way Carnival handled this. Very positive koodos for Carnival all around.

 

Steward cleaned their rooms using a flashlight. Passengers and crew pitched in and helped people using the stairs (elevators were shut down). Says she enjoyed the SPAM and pop tarts. Entertainers were everywhere on the ship performing. Everything was just fine, considering.

...I think the crew went above and beyond in handling this terrible experience, as they two are feeling the same conditions that the pax are, Yes I know they are getting paid but no money in the world make this working conditions any better.

 

Actually I bet a lot of the crew will be hurting because they won't get their tips this week, or next week for that matter. If anything, I would think the crew deserves extra tips. I wonder if Carnival will supplement their pay?

I don't believe Splendor visited any port, so this qualifies as a cruise to nowhere, and customs is irrelevant. Should not be any immigration issues, either. The problems will be with debarking carrying all of your luggage, using only the stairs. EM

 

Wonder if they will get hit with the Jones Act? Can't transport passengers from one US to another US port without a stop in a foreign land. :rolleyes:
