Can you bring beer on board at embarkation?

I just learned that you can bring unlimited wine on board at embarkation... what about beer and/or soda? Is that allowed by HAL too?

Except for wine and champagne, alcoholic beverages purchased in the vessel's shops or otherwise brought on the ship cannot be consumed on the ship. Bottles and other containers will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the voyage.

A corkage fee of US$18.00 applies to wine and champagne brought to the restaurants or bars for consumption.

Room Service offers reduced-price stateroom beverage packages for in-stateroom consumption of alcoholic beverages.

The price for some vodkas, whiskeys and a few of the liqueurs don't seem too bad, given the circumstances----but $22 for a Miller Lite six pack? Get Outta Town!!!

Comparatively--I might pay $10--but otherwise, I'll keep sneaking a twelve pack or case in my luggage, thank you!

My husband and I are some of the youngest cruisers on Holland America (28 and 30), so I think if anyone was going to have an issue bring alcohol aboard it would be us. Just the opposite, we hand-carried a fifth of Scotch on at embarkation in Florida, and to prove a point in Mexico DH carried on a 40-ounce bottle of beer -- no bag, just the bottle. No one questioned it either time, but the bottles did have to go through the x-ray machine.

Does anyone know if they have wine glasses in the cabins (we have an inside) or if we should bring our own for consumption in our cabin?

HAL cabins are all furnished with ice buckets, wine and straight glasses -- but no corkscrew, so you should bring your own, as well as means of securely restopping unfinished bottles.

Does anyone know what HAL considers O' Douls

It's a non alcoholic drink and assume there should not be a problem bring some on board

Actually O"Douls and othe "n.a." beer does contain a small % of alcohol, so technically they could disallow it ... but I doubt there would be any challenge.

Whether or not an inside cabin has glasses depends on class of ship. The S- and R-class ships do not have glassware. The Vista and Signature classes, as well as the Prinsendam, do.

Basicly, it comes down to whether or not your inside cabin has a fridge. The cabins with a fridge also have the glassware.
