arielmurphy Posted December 27, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2010 Not sure about the Jewel, but the Gem made it safely to Port Canaveral, the seas were rough, but it was worse 2 weeks ago. On Sunday it was foggy, rough, cold and rainy. Unfortunately there was a medical emergency and they had to go close to the coast line near Cape Fear to have someone taken off, in a boat. Don't know the status of the patient.
CruisinMaterial Posted December 27, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 27, 2010 The latest image doesn't look too too bad... hopefully they've gone through the worst of it. Last night I can't imagine what it was like onboard. I, as well, sail on Sunday and do hope for better weather during our 2.5 day journey at sea to the Caribbean! :)

CruisinMaterial Posted December 28, 2010 #10 Share Posted December 28, 2010 See you Sunday, Crusinmaterial, fair skies and warm temps! I totally hope so! We're going to get a rain storm here on Sunday all day and that's in MA so I hope it is coming from the West and not from the Nor Easter direction like this last time did for the blizzard!
Dolphins Posted December 28, 2010 #11 Share Posted December 28, 2010 Don't feel bad for the current Jewel Passengers. They will probably be using the pools today (Tuesday). The ones to feel sorry for are those who left the Jewel last Sunday morning and planned to go to any of the New York area airports. They may not get a flight for days? Tomorrow the Jewel passengers will be sitting under a palm tree. If they had a bumpy ride Sunday night, it still beats sleeping in an airport. nybumpkin Posted December 29, 2010 #12 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Hi folks - We have neighbors on the Jewel right now (we're pet sitting for them) and they called from Port Canaveral. It was rough sailing out - they had some broken glass - but once they got south of the storm it was fine. The hot tubs are open and being well used. It's not the warmest cruise, but at least they're on the Lido deck while our oldest son digs out their driveway for them.:p
WDBGUY Posted December 29, 2010 #13 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Do you know how late they arrived in Port Canaveral? glad there was no upside christmas trees. lol
