onthegogirl Posted January 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2011 I know others on the board join me in sending our prayers for the safety of the residents of Brisbane. Many of us have visited that wonderful city and hope for a swift end to the floods. The state of Queensland has endured a terrible summer. We all send our wish for sunny skies soon. Hello_Sailor Posted January 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Thanks for your good wishes. We have had solid rain for 6 weeks and although we are not in the worst affected area, we have many friends who are. Cheers...and thanks again for the kind thoughts.;)

Australian family Posted January 13, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 13, 2011 I live in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, this week has been our darkest week in history. On Monday which was also 35years since Toowoomba was hit with the great hailstorm. Toowoomba experienced a Tsunami of water through our streets from the big downpour on already wet soil. Toowoomba is high on the Great Dividing Range. Many people have been killed, missing, and so many lives torn apart and destroyed. The water hit the Lockyer Valley, and flattened places, Murphys Creek, Grantham. Now the great flood is flooding Brisbane. We know of people rescued by helicopters. Please keep our wonderful country in your prays. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgu4sD2oGMs&feature=rec-LGOUT-exp_stronger_r2-2r-2-HM http://www.thechronicle.com.au/ http://www.couriermail.com.au/ Some photos of Toowoomba:

startwin Posted January 13, 2011 #11 Share Posted January 13, 2011 Been thinking of all the wonderful Aussies we met on the Volendam last September and praying they are safe. So many were from Brisbane and I hope those that were on CC will check in whenever they can to let us know they are OK (thinking especially of Brissie-K). IRL_Joanie Posted January 13, 2011 #15 Share Posted January 13, 2011 This flood hitting such a large part of Queensland, specifically Toonawomba, is Australia's Katrina:eek: This is horrible to watch and try to fathom just how bad this is. My prayers for all our Australian friends and their families. I pray that the death toll does not go higher than what it currently is. I pray that the waters recede quickly and you all can begin the clean up and healing process soon. Joanie

Australian family Posted January 13, 2011 #17 Share Posted January 13, 2011 Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Here is a facebook link for Grantham victims. These people are really hurting, and have lost many loved ones, and also lost their entire homes & everything completely. http://www.facebook.com/granthamfloodsupport I heard this morning that they are finding debri from the Lockyer Valley in Brisbane now. Which is approx. 60 miles or 100 kilometres by road.
