Thanks!

Did you scan it at the price check thing? Everything I picked up was about $5 - $10 cheaper when I scanned them.

Yes, I did. Very disappointed because I hoped it would come up at about $20-25. I didn't love it enough to pay almost $50 for it. I find that there are some clothes I like at one price but when they are much lower in price, I love them! That was pretty much the way with every place I went yesterday - Macy's, Burlington Coat Factory, Dress Barn and Ross. I saw things I liked in all of them but the price was not low enough to make me buy.

That dress is beautiful! I might have to order it too. We are doing an 11 day repositioning cruise in October and a segment of the 2014 World Cruise on the Queen Elizabeth, 19 days and our longest cruise to date. I can pull that dress off, I think. I am 58 and am in pretty good shape and majorly working on it for that trip!

Ladies get to MACY'S NOW!!! Yesterday I purchased 6 pairs of shoes for under $ 60.00. One was a cute pair of Coach sneakers. Then I got a pair of Sperry comfy white sandals and my daughter got navy blue Tommy Hilfiger sandals. I will try to send photos. The racks are all 80% and the clothing is 70%.

TNGALOHA: Wow! We need to see a photo of your DH when he first sees you in that dress! He won't be able to take his eyes off you!!

I think your height and weight will only accentuate your look. I would add (IMHO) that Spanx can smooth out any bumps, no matter how small.

Envy is my word of the morning! All of you who are finding fabulous bargains - Bravo:cool::)!

Good Morning everyone,

Thank you for all the comments on the dress. I think I am going to order it in light blue. I have a very nice tan this summer (thanks to finally having a pool) so I think the white might look funny. I am waiting on them to send me some pictures of the dress so I can see it in lt. blue.

Thanks footballbabe for the heads up on Macys. I may have to make that 60 mile trip over to El Centro to go today.

Indiana, You still have 12 days that you can shop before the Sept. 1 deadline and I hear that Macys is having a fabulous sale!!;) I'm sorry I know I am an enabler.

Lexi, with your height and size that dress would be gorgeous on you! I say Go For It!

CateW, Go for it!! That dress would look great on you!

Lexi, Spanx has been my best friend for years, but had to buy it in a smaller size this year because of the weight loss.

I will post a picture of me in it when I get it. I can't wait!!

My grandsons may be a little shocked when they see the dress and even when they see Nana going to the pool with her bright green and or bright pink bikini on while we are on the ship.

Lexi I am like you, I will be taking 5 or 6 swimsuits with me on our cruise.

I have been working out hard enough that I can for the first time in 20 years actually wear a bikini again!!

Hope everyone has a great day today.

Gerry

I went to Macy's yesterday!! DH and I stopped at the mall before a baseball game - for lunch - and 2 hours at the mall. (Gotta love DH!)

A couple good sale items: 2 tops, a pair of Caribbean blue Capris and a lightweight cardigan - all for under $70.

...and then I spotted it - the PERFECT Red Dress! In previous posts, you heard my rambling about the Search.

Tried it on - looked in the dressing room mirror - red lace (you inspired me TNGALOHA)! It's sleeveless and has a back zipper from top to hem. Not a petite size so wasn't sure how it would fit...but it was PERFECT!

Not on sale - the saleslady said it had arrived the day before and she commented that it stood out among all the LBDs!

Now I have a dress for the Next Cruise (before Christmas) and February Cruise (over Valentines Day):)!

A photo WILL be posted in the near future!

Thank you CCFs who mentioned the Macy's sale!!

TNGALOHA: Don't you love how we middle-aged CCFs can wear clothes that look good on our bodies with confidence!! Cudos to you for working hard to achieve that Bikini Body:)icon14.gif

I'd love to see the red dress, too, Indiana! BTW, I liked your new hair cut and color, too. I thought I had posted after begging for a photo, but I guess I forgot to hit the submit button.

I *think* I'm done shopping for my upcoming cruise, except for a new pair of sneakers. I picked up some plain tanks at a discount store last night to layer under some lower cut tops. And I found a silver costume-grade watch bracelet for less than half the price of a silver bracelet I had been eyeing. Practical and thrifty! I'm still smiling about that find!

Good morning everyone,

I found address that I fell in love with for our next cruise and I want to surprise my husband with it when I come out one night. Do you think it looks ok or do you think it looks a little on the sl***y side?

At 61 I sure don't need to be wearing dress that look sl***y.

Thanks ahead of time for any and all input.

Have a great day,

Gerry

Reading your posts have got me ready to start packing.

I am usually done by now, but for some reason I am not motivated. I am the kind of girl that has everything outlined per day, in zip lock bags with instructions on specific accessories and shoes, but I haven't even started my packing spreadsheet yet!

I bought a few dresses that can go from dinner to the casino (but not to the nightclub)- you know, summer dresses, maxi dresses and the like. I also got 2 new bathing suits and 2 new cover-ups (bathing suits are an outfit for me so everyday I must have a new one on). I don't want to wear heels that much (I doubt this will happen though :D). I vowed I would wear sparkly flats to the nightclub, but once again I doubt it.

I also told myself that I would wear a formal dress that I already own and I would bring 1 pair of heels (probably a black pair). Decisions, decisions...

I'll be more active in this post and show some of my outfit plans tonight. Forums are great for motivation- I am glad there are other people in the world like me. My cruise is one month away so I have to get started!

Oh, and I love, love, love your pics so far! Love cruising fashionistas!:D

LEXIpoo: I WANT that dress!!!! Since boopsahoy mentioned she likes end of August sales...I WILL visit Macy's before Sept 1:rolleyes:!:p...time is getting short...

Just read in Rachael Ray's magazine: In several large cities the Food Truck idea is being morphed into mobile boutiques. In Stillwater MN, an old newspaper truck is "The Fashion Mobile". A Fashion Truck in LA even has a small dressing room.

How cool to have the clothes and accessories come into your neighborhood!

We have one in the St Louis area. She bought an old snapfit tool truck and renovated it. She's having some licensing issues so in the city she can't park on the street. But can park in a business parking lot. She posts a schedule of where she'll be for the week on her face book page each week. I think this is such a fun way to buy/sell clothes.

Neotericisis: Welcome to CCF:). You are fitting in with the CCF profile perfectly! Keep us posted on your Packing Process. With only one month, you don't have much time. It sounds like you already have outfits in mind.

LittleJeanne: Let us know how the mobile boutique is doing. It's a really good concept:cool:.

TNGALOHA: How exciting! Your dress is going to be the hit of Formal Night...not to mention how DH will admire you!!

I looked on Macy's website for my red dress - not there. I hope to post a photo in the next couple weeks...

This morning I stopped at the mall...and took advantage of the end-of-season sale at the BonTon (small town rendition of a "department store").

Came out with a pair of pinkish coral Capris and a 3/4 length sleeved shirt in a pink & coral print to match = $13.00!! Couldn't pass up that bargain;)!

Now that fall and (gasp!) winter coats are showing up on the racks, it will be (should be) easier to implement my Shopping Shutdown:rolleyes:.

DH & I are back and forth from the Lake House to the Big House, so it will be a couple weeks - but I WILL take photos of my recent purchases and post them. (High school and university football start soon so Lake House time will be dwindling.)

Cosmetics Update: I'm liking CoverGirl outlast stay brilliant nail polish. "My Papaya" will be perfect for cruising - and doesn't need a top coat - and has stayed nice w/ no chips for a week!

The shellac mani is the best, no question...but inconvenient to go to a salon for removal when I like to change color about once a week.

Clinique Quickliner eyeliner pencil is doing a good job, easy to apply, easy to see (behind my glasses) and long lasting. Also easy to remove with eye makeup remover.

I'm not finding a wonderful eyebrow pencil(?). One day I realized my eyebrows aren't as thick as they used to be. Like everything else - they need enhancing!

WalMart, etc. doesn't carry a variety of eyebrow enhancers...

QUESTION: What eyebrow product do you use?

QUESTION: What eyebrow product do you use?

I use, and LOVE MAC's eyebrow pencil. It's so light, smooth, and very natural looking. I've been using it for the past year and I have no complaints. Sephora has a pretty good one also by Anastasia I believe. But that one is a bit heavier.

Indiana71 - have you tried a small slanted eyebrow brush with brown (or whatever color you need) powder? I don't buy the eyebrow powder - I just use dark brown eyeshadow powder because it is less expensive than the specialty eyebrow powder. I have never had thick eyebrows and have been drawing them in since Jr. High - I did buy and try that eyebrow stuff (it is kind of liquidy) that stays on through showers, swimming, etc - for me, a waste of $30 - it does stay on but I find it difficult to put on and have it look natural. So I will be sticking with the slanted brush and powder....they don't cost much, so give it a try - looks more natural than a pencil for me.

I totally agree although I do use the eyebrow powder. Pencils don't work for me either since I hardly have any brows and what I have are very pale!:(

Indiana,

If you want something easy to find at Walmart, I use Revlon Brow Fantasy. It is a pencil on one end, and a gel brush thing on the other. It comes in 4 shades from light blond to dark brownish black. The 2nd lightest one is the one I use to fairly well match my (dyed) red hair which is a mix of Loreal Preference 6RB and 6R. Betty

I'm gonna try that.

Even though I already have my fave product, I still like to test out others.

Someone mentioned the Neon Party. Yes, it was that on the Breakaway in June, instead of a White Hot Party. I had only taken white things to wear for the White Hot Party. That was fine because many people were in white. However the neon clothes and accessories were really neat to look at. The party on the Breakaway was outside on the H2O deck, and they used a black light I think to enhance the neon effect. It really was pretty! The younger people seemed to be prepared for it and wore some crazy outfits, yet they looked good!

If you want to do the Neon thing, then just wear your white and put on a neon scarf, or necklace or something like that. You will not be out of place in just white though! Or take some glow bracelets or necklace. They passed some out at the party....as far as they would last.

I don't need any eyebrow product. My brows are dark and thick. I just shape them.

Must be nice.

Mine are pretty dark and thick as well and I have a unibrow lol... I use my pencil, and a little bit of concealer to shape them. I hate getting my eyebrows waxed, tweezed, etc. I can't take it.

Have you tried threading? It is a great alternative to waxing.

Also, the bathing suit discussion sent me on a search for some new bathing suit tops. I decided out of frustration to try ebay. Sure enough I found 3 tops new with tags attached that are by a manufacturer I am familiar with, so I know they will fit. I paid 29.97 for three tops shipped to my home and I already have the tracking information. I can't believe the great deals I got. One top would have cost me well more than the 29.97. :)

Hi, Betty,

My eyebrow issue is for another day :). Right now I'm very, very interested to read about someone using L'Oreal Preference. My natural hair color was strawberry blonde, but that was many, many years ago. Age and gray have not helped my red color :)

Sooooooooooo, I'm getting tired of spending soooo much to have my hair colored professionally and have been thinking about L'Oreal. Do you like it? How does the color turn out? I really want strawberry blonde but NOT orange. Please, please give me your review of your color.

Thank you so much.

Lynn
