bankerbabe Posted February 11, 2011 #77 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Trying to figure out the best (cheapest) way to enjoy some cold ones whilst sailing the sea I came up with this chart in Excel. It shows prices with and without gratuities, bucket prices, and what I consider to be the best bang for your buck deals. I've found that buying a bucket of (4) 12oz Budweiser/Bud Light cans plus 1 extra 12oz can be a better deal than the (4) 16oz Bud/Bud Light bucket. By buying a bucket of the 12oz and an extra single can equals 60oz for $20.88 versus 64oz and $24.71 for the (4) 16oz bucket. Anyway take a look at my chart :D I think I love you. :)
chasm4u Posted February 11, 2011 #78 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Fom experience onboard I can say truly that Fosters is the best price for the money. Its a little more but you get more and in the long run youll spend lots less.
PlanoTim Posted February 11, 2011 #79 Share Posted February 11, 2011 The key is, just drink fosters. However, can they sell you a bucket of Fosters? That's 100 ounces!!! That depends. er... I mean you would need Depends.
katp Posted February 11, 2011 #80 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I broke it down this morning and posted it as a pdf, but I don't think anyone looked at it. I looked at it. Even showed it to my DH. And I think this is the best thread I've ever read on this forum. Yay beer! :)
bankerbabe Posted February 11, 2011 #81 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Great thread! I have never purchased a bucket of beer so I don't know how it is served. When the bartender presents you with your bucket of favorite brew are the four containers opened at the time of serving or are thay left unopened? If the containers are all open, at my rate of consumption I would have to get used to drining flat beer or enlist a few shipmates to help. Probably no short of volunteers for that duty. Buy a pair of Reefs flip flops - several of their styles have bottle openers in the bottom. Awesome for days at the beach or weekends spent by the lake. Or cruises. JaniceB Posted February 16, 2011 #87 Share Posted February 16, 2011 Great thread. Our first cruise together my DH came off the ship with his arm looking like it had been holding a bucket for 7 days. Everywhere we went he went with his bucket. Our friends that went with us on the cruise presented him with a bucket of beer when he retired from the navy a few months later. We all still laugh about the "bucket". The bucket is great if you like your beer ice cold and it saves money. :D
boo119 Posted February 16, 2011 #88 Share Posted February 16, 2011 This is great, our group of 10, leaving in 24 days, are mostly beer drinkers. Do they have Ultra on the ships? It's not my preference but a couple of the girls drink it.
dkmaster Posted February 16, 2011 #89 Share Posted February 16, 2011 so my question is, is Guinness in the can or bottle? menu just says Guinness Draught and I assume they do not have any beers on tap (even if they did, they couldn't take the proper time to pour it...the Guinness) yes, I like to chew my beer...which is my dad's excuse for not drinking it while I call him a wimp for drinking a beer you can see through
jen&samcantwait Posted February 16, 2011 #90 Share Posted February 16, 2011 There is also the option of preordering your beer from Bon Voyage. The price is per item, but no 15% added on. Four 16 oz. Bud Lights; 4 * $5.75=$23.00. The down side is, Bon Voyage does not carry all of the beers served on board (no Landshark) and it's delivered warm to your cabin. BUT, bring a small soft sided collapsible cooler and your room steward will keep it filled with ice. And, any bartender will give you a bucket with ice, if you ask. Thanks T&D, do you have to call for this? Looking at Bon Voyage on the Carnival site, all they have listed is the 4 drink coupons for $21.25, little more than the buckets of Coors Light onboard, but I really like the idea of padding our bar bill before we sail ;)
MagnoliaFly Posted February 16, 2011 #91 Share Posted February 16, 2011 I e-mailed it to my husband! He was bummed I nixed his beer smuggling dreams for our upcoming cruise so maybe this will cheer him up somewhat.

Host Mick Posted March 28, 2011 #100 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Nice. Missing is the column with the alcohol content factored in, call it coefficient of buzz. Then you can eliminate the domestic pilsners when adjusting for perceived taste.
