We have a family cruise booked on the Legend, its a ways out but I would like to learn everything we need to know about her. Please share your knowledge about her with us.

Here are a few questions we have, but we want to know everything we can learn...

Did she get the water works upgrade when she was last in dry dock?

Did she get the jumbotron?

What stations are offered on her TV system? (this was asked my my 18 year old, I told him he wontbe watching much TV on a ship but he still wants to know)

What eateries are offered?

Thanksahead of time for anything you can share!

I cant wait to sail her! The Jumbotron and Waterworks dont bother me. We will have them on the Conquest in November, so I hope were not dissapointed when we get to the Legend :D But we have sailed without them before and had a blast.

I really want to do a steakhouse, but I am going to put that one on hold until our Nov 2012 sailing when its just DH and I. Were saling the Legend with two 18 year olds, and honestly its not something they would really appreciate like we parents would. We have told the boys they are free to do whatever they want at all times except dinner. We DO expect them to have dinner with us every night, other than that they can do as they please. I still get the feeling though they will be with us quite a bit. They actually do like hanging with us, which we LOVE. But again, they have the option to be free as birds.

This is the boys trip and I am praying it is everything they are dreaming of and want it to be PERFECT for them. BTW, they are getting 5 days in Orlando prior to boarding the Legend. They dont know about that part, and I chose to fo it before so I could get MY rest on the ship.

No waterworks but there is a slide.

Like others said, no jumbotron... thank goodness.

TV- The local stations are out of Denver, I think it is so you don't know what the weather is going to be where you are, i.e. incoming hurricane. A lot of the stations are spanish and they run a few movies on a closed loop.

Other than the steakhouse there are no specialty restaurants like on RCCL. The lido food is setup in different sections and you can get burgers, sandwhiches, and pizza everyday.

We just got off the Legend on the 27th. I think you will enjoy her. It's very easy to find your way around. Like the others said, there is no jumbo tron. The water slide never had a long line. The food was good. We ate in the Lido, MDR and the steakhouse, which we really liked. I never had the pizza but my fiance liked it. We did do a sandwich at the deli and it was really good. Take advantage of the free room service, even if it's a BLT or a PB & J. It's also the only way to get potato chips or pretzels.

As far as tv, there is not a lot to chose from. The most consistent channels are CNN and TNT. Movies change every day but they were never that good. Even in the casino and sports bar ESPN is in Spanish...so you can see the scores, just not read the news :)

I'm doing some research on the Legend and trying to decide whether or not to cruise with her and was reading your post...

What is a Jumbotron and waterworks if you don't mind me asking?

the jumbotron is a giant TV out by the pool, and the water works is like a small water park..lol..slides, fountain ect

The ship is not big enough for tv screen out by the pool.

For adults 18 and over there is a hot tub located in the gym spa area. Very hot water unlike the hot tubs by the pool which are full of kids and luke warm.

When having lunch at the buffet scan the whole area-- not just the first buffet line. Each will have different choices. Many people go to the first line thinking its all the same.

Take an insulated mug- the glasses for the free lemonade / iced tea are rather small.

Tea is unsweetened but mix it with lemonade to give it a different flavor.

Check out the cakes at the cafe on the promanade deck. You can have an awesome slab of cake for like 2.50 or choc strawberries 3/5.00 or a milkshake for 3.95

I'm a buffet fanatic. So no worries about the other lines. I'll get in the first, finish, then go on to the next. hehe

Do they not have a soda package you can buy on the ship? That's what I've always done in the past. After a few glasses of lemonade, my throat starts to hurt. I don't like unsweetened tea, so that doesn't work with me. I have to have my caffeine. :D

Thanks for all the information everyone. I understand her not having the room for the jumbotron. I just LOVE those. Never been on a ship with one, will be on the Conquest in Nov. So I will have that experience then, I love them at games we go to.

We were on the Elation last November and the TV never had anything but the ship's closed circut stations and we never did see a movie play. Not sure what was up with that. Being one of the boys wanted to know about TV (he is a TV nut) I told him there wouldnt be TV, internet or cell phone for a WEEK!!! I got a funny look.. Teens... Wanna bet I end up toting a portable DVD player? yeah he is that addicted to his TV and movies. I see some annoying Adam Sandler movies being played in the cabin next door...

None of it really matters (to me, I dont watch much TV anyway), I just want to learn everything I can about her so I can tell the boys about it so they will know what to expect and look forward to. As for me.... I look foraward to a good week of sleeping.

Any more insider tips on the Legend? Considering it is such a popular ship, I am surprised at the low rate of response on this thread. :o

I was hoping for more responses too, I sail her July 10th...

The deli sammies are very good.

The slot machines in the casino are very tight.

The ports of call are all awesome.

The ship is very easy to get around on.

YTD is in the upper portion of the MDR.

And the only bad part I can think of is.......

I have to wait till Sunday to board her again:D

I sailed her in October. Loved it! Here is an interactive page where you can see the locations on each floor of laundrettes and a whole bunch of other stuff:

https://www.goccl.com/irman/bookccl/the_fleet/interactive_map/deckplans/shipboard.HTML

I've been on the Conquest class ships, and I really did find the flow of these Spirit class ships incredibly easy to navigate.

Will be on the Legend in August and it looks like Ralph Valente will be leaving the ship for the month of August and James Dunn will be taking his place......

Anyone have James as their Cruise Director

Please share any info

Thanks
