Carnival legend just got back carnival went downhill

Wow, I must be hitting my Carnival cruises at the right time. I was on Legend in late February - early March and had a great time. Music was good, entertainment was great, ship was clean as a whistle, staff bent over backwards to accommodate passengers. I, too, will be curious to see this review from uncleboo. As for activities, well, they are what you make them.

Rikcop44, I have to agree with you. Our family of 4 cruised on the Legend in mid-March and we had a wonderful time. Have there been some cut-backs since we last cruised?? Yes - but it didn't prevent us from having one of the best cruises ever. We expected to have a great time and we did. :)

I'll be looking forward to reading your review. The Dream seemed to have endless games and activities, and the Triumph did a great job too last Nov. Then came my recent Miracle cruise...lack of activities, and those they had were going on all at the same time. Plus one night with the marriage game in the theater instead of an actual show. I'm wondering if this is common on Spirit class ships (which both Miracle and Legend are), to not be as lively or have as much going on as other classes of ships. If that hunch is correct, give Conquest or Dream class a shot. They seem to still have plenty going on.

We've sailed both "Miracle" and "Legend" recently, and trust me,,,it isn't a problem with "Spirit" class ships. "Legend" had excellent entertainment, but "Miracle" is sadly lacking. In my opinion, the problem with "Miracle" all goes back to a very poor cruise director. Mr. Burn simply is the worlds worst cruise director, and he has no management skills as well, so his entire entertainment staff has a "who gives a damn" attitude. Activities are poorly planned, and many times, even though they are noted in the "Fun Times," don't happen when, or where they are scheduled. Another time, the "Miracle" show band was scheduled to be at two different locations, at the same time! They just shook their heads when they realized the snafu! The whole staff is simply lack luster, and couldn't care less what the passengers think about them. I avoid Malcolm Burn, and any ship he's on at all costs. Once was enough for me!

OK, is it just me or did we never get the review?

I don't want everyone to stop bashing each other. I just want to know what we are pissed about, today so I can jump in with my own "IMHO".

This is hillarious! 50+ posts on this thread so far and the OP has never even replied or posted a review. What has this message board become?

still desperately making the post about me and not the issue. nice try.

i have sailed the legend 3 times, and as double platinum, i would hope that ccl would not reject my vacation $$. is the picture getting any clearer? if you owned a business, would you hope there was someone that was a customer telling others to go elsewhere?

reread my post again, slowly. i am prodding the op to expound.

What is Carnival "Double Platinum"? I've been sailing Carnival for a long, long time, and am "Milestone", which is over 25 cruises,,,,but I never heard of "Double Platinum"? Fill me in,,,maybe I'm "Double Platinum" too! :D

OH! Well, I guess that using that logic, I'm TRIPLE PLATINUM PLUS, as we've got over 30 Carnival cruises racked up. My wife can never remember "Milestone" anyway. She keeps telling people she's "Mile Marker". :D

Now after reading all that I am REALLY curious about what the problem was. We have lots of good debate on whether or not Carnival is going down hill but as someone who is going on the Legend next month I really would love to know the story.

Most reviews I have seen fort the Legend recently have been good so I am really interested to see what the issues he saw were. Why must the OP leave us hanging like this?

I recently cruised twice on Victory and noticed very little (if any?) cost cutting.

In fact I was kinda surprised to find chocolates on my pillow every night!

That says a lot, coz that's the kinda silly lil thang that goes first!

We boarded Sunday at San Juan, and I noticed there was no soap in the bathroom

There was body wash, though. Nevertheless my sky fell.

Oh the pain the agony -mainly of the-feet. NO SOAP!

I reckoned the problem was just temporary and I bet a guy

that the next day Monday when we docked in St.Thomas

(where I know the ship takes on supplies bigtime)

that we'd get back on board from ashore-in-St.Thomas to find soap in our bathrooms.

Whaddya know..we got back on board from ashore-in-St.Thomas to find soap.

Supplies had got through to my bathroom. Yaaaay!

Cause for major celebration? I don't think so.

____ _______ I survived

The 12 hour VICTORY Soap Shortage

________ of April 2011

I sold out of the special commemorative Tshirts, on board -made a fortune on them

which will pay for my next two cruises on Silversea :D

Now to be melodramatic and nit-picking

I could say the depression was lifted, and CCL stock went back up again...

-because of a temp. soap issue?

Go into it with an open mind! Don't listen to half the stuff on here and disregard the other half...

I have enjoyed every cruise I've been on. Some more than others though!

Thank you: you sound like a real person

Maybe you could even do without soap for a day,

suffering all the while with body wash instead! :D

I'm going on the Legend in 6 day's... I was hoping for a review, not all this bickering...
Honey, you'll be just fine!

You'll have a lovely Legend cruise -unless your job is Quality Control, somewhere.

You'll notice there's still been no review

and probably never will be.

I'm still trying to figure out why people hang their hopes on other people's reviews.

Like they matter?? :D

I still think Carnival is giving good value.

However was disappointed recently with entertainment on Miracle.

Having love and marriage game one night as the only entertainment is pretty poor. Especially when that was the night the piano player was off.

We have cruised every year since 1998 and only CCL. The cut backs are noticeable. One must realize that Carnival has new management and has gone thru hard times. These are young gun ho people that work for the stock holders. We have a cruise booked on the Victory in January. It will be interesting to see the differences next year if there is any.

If the OP isn't going to post the review. Let's do it for him.

We don't really need to have been on the cruise to say what was wrong. We could just make it up.

I'll Start....

We arrived at Tampa Airport at 2pm on Sunday. While we were waiting for baggage claim I called Travelocity, (they are my TA.) to let them know, to tell the ship we might be a little late. I couldn't even get through to anyone. Can you believe it!. Well, we still needed to stop and buy some bottles of Jim Beam. So I grabbed a cab and we were off on the start of what I hoped would be a great vacation....

I am sorry you did not enjoy your cruise. I just returned from the Legend yesterday and loved it. My friend, Cindy, and I left our husbands home and had 9 days of doing what we wanted, when we wanted. We cruise with them in the winter but travel w/o them each spring.

The food and entertainment was good, not great but not stinky either.

We loved the new perk of getting free drinks in the casino after you earned 1500 points. And the slots were quite kind to us.

The itinerary was fantastic. Our 1st Roatan experience makes us excited that we will be there again in Feb on the Glory - FRIENDLY island, and CLEAN. Lots to do.

We were very pleased with the service. More on that with a new post as I don't want to hijack this thread.

Maybe we had a better experience because we were ready for a nice relaxing cruise w/o our DHs running us ragged trying to do every ship board activity and as many excursions as possible:D

I am starting to wonder if this member just came onhere to stir

the pot. We never did see the review!!

OMG

What is with all the posts like this???

I think there are people with jobs out there that don't allow them internet message board time....and maybe even a busy real life that keeps them otherwise occupied.

The OP stated they were going to post a LONG review.

Does anybody realize how much time and effort go into that???

Give the Op time for goodness sake.

I agree with you that much of the friendliness has gone. Also with Princess, some of the Eastern Eurpoean staff were gruff at times. My favorite line right now is HAL. Their service is impecable and they really do generally seem to care and are nice. Also Holland America prices are about the same as Princess and CCL.

I like HAL too for that same reason. DH said too many old people there for our sons, but they never seemed to be bothered about it.

OK...I have to say this.

In all the recent posts with complaints about CCL 'slipping' I have YET to see any of the Op's say they had a horrible time.

Every one of them claimed to have a good time, including the poster who's DH supposedly got banned for goodness sake.

I hope that you are all comprehending that people are just noting that there have been noticeable cuts.

Maybe it depends on teh ship?

I just sailed the Liberty and I was amazed at how friendly the whole staff was.

You are so true. When asked what is my favorite line, I say ship as for me, they are all have their own "personality."

My wife and I sailed on the Valor April, 2011, on our first Carnival Cruise and we had a blast. We are booked on another Carnival Cruise April, 2012. We have one of those "L"-shaped cabins aft. We cannot wait until we sail!! If those people who go on a cruise to complain and find fault make their way to the Freedom next April, they can join in the FUN we are having. We will be the ones with a drink in our hand and a smile on our face!!:D:p;):):o:cool:
