Carnival 20th Anniversary $5 Casino Chip

So, I was going through some keepsake boxes in the basement, and came across a $5 Carnival 20th Anniversary (1972 - 1992) casino chip. I got this on the Carnivale on a cruise in 1992.

I think the small print says it 'expires' in 1992, but I can't be sure (even when using a magnifying glass).

Any chance I could use it in the casino, or better yet, is it a collector's item??

Sailing in June, so I may take it with me just to see:)

so totally not a gambler here, but have to ask a question based upon an experience we had a couple of years ago in Vegas..

We saved a chip from a casino to use the next night in the same casino..

got told by the dealer at the table that we needed to cash it out the previous evening because that lack of chip didn't balance the table drawer for the evening...

So, if this is true and the table didn't balance that evening, then wouldn't using the chip on your ship do the same thing? (personally, I'd save it)

Like I said.. totally clueless here...

Never heard of that... we always have chips from the night before, EXCEPT the last night when the casino says over and over to cash out as the casino will not be open the next morning. I did come home with a couple of $25 chips by accident one time and next cruise they were honored. As for the $5 chip put it on ebay and let us know how it goes! Bet you could get $5 for it on your next cruise...

In all honesty, I don't even recall getting the chip - I would think that we would have used it in the casino at the time, unless maybe I thought that it was only a commemorative thing, and just saved it.

It's a $5 table chip. Tried to take a pic to post here, but my camera isn't cooperating.

Guess I'll find out when we cruise in June if I can use it, save it!
