Do anytime dining. We have always had a table for 2 during our last 3 cruises that we used anytime dining. I also like to dine with just my husband.

We got an UNEXPECTED assigned table for two on the Elation last month! It was GREAT!

Or you could book as DW and I... been place at a table for 2 three times (60% of the times our booking has been with just the two of us). Or talk with the MDR manager once on board, I think they open up around 1:30.

I see that I am in the minority here - I cruise to socialize so I love sharing a table. I can stay at home and have as much alone time with my husband as I want without paying big bucks for a cruise. We shut off everything - telephones, computers, blackberries and kids know that we are unavailable to them for periods of time and they respect this - we are not that important that we need to be reachable 24/7
