barcelona taxi

Recommended Posts

A few years go it was about 30 euros. Factor in baggage, extra passenger and surcharges. We had 3-4 people and 3-4 pieces of luggage and that was in the ball park from Port to Downtown and from downtown to airport.

does anyone know how much a taxi would be from barcelona airport to the cruise terminal. We will be arriving on sunday 28th august at about 1.30pm.thanks Paula.x

Heckuva lot of additional charges... my head was spinning as he was punching them all in! LOL!

Right.. charges of time of day and holidays also. Thank goodness there isn't an add-on for bad Castellano or truly horrible Catalan or I'd still be paying off the bill. :)

Seriously, compared to other Western European tourist-heavy cities, Barcelona taxis are reasonably priced.

They actually are, I do agree with you. If you just need to get from point A to B without any luggage, and your starting point is not a hotel or the airport, we found it very reasonable. And the drivers were so appreciative of the tips! Made us smile. :)

Wow. We weren't so lucky. Since I knew my way around Barcelona I knew the difference, called the driver on it and asked him to stop. In both cases, they made excuses for extra mileage they were packing on.

We got one driver who circled around and made excuses for adding to the distance, saying he couldn't stop on Las Ramblas to let us out (He went about 2 miles past Ramblas and circled back. I reminded him that he could stop there on Ramblas to let us out or on the side street between Le Meridien and 1898.

Second driver, after we got back from cruise, pretended to be lost and circled around 3 times before I made him STOP. I told him not to drive another foot until he called his office. He drove straight to the hotel which was at that point about 1000 yards away. We had two bags. Hotel said it should have cost us 27 Euro from the port. We paid 37 Euro and someone else paid 40 Euro (tips not included).

Last year a taxi for three people and luggage to the port was 26 euros. Lots of taxis in line at airport. Check the price before getting in.

Did that both times. Makes no difference once they have you in the taxi and then start making excuses as to why it is higher than they quoted.:mad: Once you are en route or arrived they have you and can call police if you don't pay.

Gave me a bitter taste for the city and I've been there a couple of times. Next time I will just stay on the ship or take the train to the airport. No pre-cruise and post-cruise revenue from me in the future.

Not sure where the train runs but will find out if I have to embark there next time. I do know that HOHO bus stop is not too far from port and if you are strong enough to pull your luggage 5-6 blocks:D you can get on it and buy your two day pass at the same time you take the route to near your hotel. Red Line and maybe Blue also stop there by the Customs building.

Having said that, however, if I do get to the Med next year, I'm hoping to embark in Venice. Easy from train to People Mover to vaporetto to pre-cruise hotel.

Debark would probably still be in Barcelona:( but would probably suck it up and take a taxi (along with my chances).
