You can get comped drinks without joining the Club Royale. On my last cruise on the Majesty in June I was comped about a half dozen drinks over two nights while playing 3-card poker. One of the managers came over and asked myself and another guy playing what we were drinking and the waitress brought them over to us. A few minutes later he came over with free drink cards for the two of us to use. By the next night they knew what we were drinking and brought a few more over during the course of the evening.

 

The manager said it was from the dealers. Generally instead of tipping the dealers I would play a $5-10 side bet for the dealer on pairs or better. Over three of the nights they made over $500 from myself alone and probably closer to $1000.

 

I didn't know the other guy originally but he was a degenerate gambler and lost thousand over the course of the cruise that I saw. But he would drop a $100 on the side bet for the dealers. The beauty for the dealers is they never lose on the side bet because even if it doesn't hit it wasn't their money. If it does hit it doesn't take much to see a 3-1 or higher payout.

 

The other guy was a "degenerate gambler" but you gave the dealers $500 - $1000 for about $40 in drinks ? The money you bet for them would've produced the same winnings for you and the same loses. Why not tip the dealer $100, pay for your drinks and be up hundreds of dollars more ?

 

I'm all for taking care of the dealers but if you give away $750 you have just increased the house edge greatly. Unless of course the dealers give you back some of those tips if you start losing but I've never seen that happen.

are the points based on how much you put into the slots, how much you bet per pull, or how many pulls you make before you cash out?

 

...strictly $ in, not out. You can actually see your points add up on the machine. I check periodically to make sure they are still adding up. Sometimes you have to put your card in again. If that doesn't work, go to the money cage & they will give you a different card that will work.

 

If you put $20. in & happen to get very lucky & play for a few hours on just that $20....you will have tons of points because you 'ran a lot of $' through the machine.

If you put $20. in then lose it in a few minutes....very,very few points.

The only way you really get points is to have a LOT of play.

I think you may be misunderstanding - he didn't give the dealer $500-1000. Rather than tipping the dealer, he placed a $5-10 bet for the dealer in place of a tip - the bet won - therefore the dealer won $500-1000 - that money did not come out of his pocket. Very nice gesture!

....an $1800. jackpot playing .50 on one of those machines where you can choose to play .25 or .50

Was in the hole probably a couple hundred before that hit but had played a lot.

 

The good part was that the jackpot was on the last night of the cruise :O)

PLUS....no taxes unlike hitting something in the U.S.

Biggest one I've hit was $400 on a 10 cent slot, but my wife hit a $600 jackpot on a penny slot once - man did that one ding for a long time:)

 

As for smoke, it depends on where you are in the casino. Smoking is only in one area.

If I'm winning I'm going to tip the dealers as a general rule anyway. My playing a side bet on my on hand for the dealers benefit doesn't effect the house's edge or the card play. As this is a matter of course I didn't do it for drinks.

I think it is cruise to cruise.

After each cruise we get a letter from Club Royale with our next booking offer. It is good for 1 year.

As far as the 'points' you get to use while you are onboard....a casino manager told me these have nothing to do with Club Royale. In fact you do not even have to be a member.

If you do not use up those points by the end of your cruise, you lose them.

They have a list of things you can use those points for.

Things like tee shirts,hats, internet credit, specialty restaurant coupons,etc.

 

Are the points only collected on slots, or table games also? I never play the slots, but always play table games.

I agree with your way of thinking and tipping of the dealers - always felt this was proper in any casino if you are winning. If the cruise ship decides to comp you a couple of drinks, I don't feel one has anything to do with the other - nice that they acknowledge your play and your tipping. I wouldn't change what you are doing at all! Good luck in the casino. :)

im interested in joining club royale....but do table games count, or just slots? I usually only play blackjack, texas hold em, 3 card, and occasionally caribbean stud....

EDIT: If I am invited to join, do I need to cruise/play a minimum per year, or it doesnt matter after Ive been invited?
