300 Thread Count Sheets? I hope this has changed. We sleep on 600 thread count sheets. I can sleep on 300 but with all of the raving about the great suite amenities, I expect 600.

I don't know what the thread count was, but the bed sheets in the Garden Villa on the Gem were wonderful. In fact, it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I actually inquired about the brand of mattress, I want to get the same one for home! LOL!!

The booze in the room is included, or is it like one of those hotel bars they charge you for every drink?

Depends on the suite type. In Owner's Suites, Deluxe Owners's Suites, and Garden Villa (the big three bedroom ones, not the "Courtyard" or "Haven" villas) - you will have some liquor included- 3 one-litre bottles in the OS's and 6 in the GV. Other suite types include no liquor, only a bottle of sparkling wine on embarkation (OS's and GV get champagne). Also, soft drinks are included in the OS's and GV only. Most suites have a minibar at a charge.

i'm so torn now, we booked the 2 bedroom family balcony SC so it comes with some perks, but that haven experience sounds down right heavenly. Oh what to do???

This thread has been a fantastic read!:D

We too are in a 2brdm SC I'm still excited.. I guess the next trip is a HAVEN.. every trip we go on we stay higher and higer and book. I'm still excited we go on the GEM in April.

As far as inviting non-suite guests to the GV, you just have to meet them somewhere so you can use your card to get the elevator up to the GV deck. You can have your butler bring snacks if you want but otherwise do not need to involve the butler or concierge. You can only entertain them in your GV, not in the Haven aka Courtyard.

Can anyone verify whether this is accurate?: We are inviting about 6 couples who will arrive at various times for a pre-dinner cocktail party. I can't see myself standing by the elevator just to escort them up and past the concierge for as much as an hour as people arrive at different times. If this is the case, then I must give people exact times to show up which I have not done at this point. Help if you can.

If you are in the Haven (or Courtyard - GV's and CV's) your guests will have no way to get to your suite without your key card. To get to the Haven floor, you need to either insert your key into the slot in the elevator or use it to open the door in the stairway between decks (please don't just leave this door blocked open - you would be surprised how many people just come up into the Haven uninvited). When we hosted our parties in the GV, we had a set meeting time for one of us to escort them up. For late arrivals, we had them phone our GV from the floor below, and then went to meet them and escort them up.

Robin,

VERY helpful and thoughtful. I'm familiar with the use of the key-card as that was the process on the Epic. This is easily enough corrected as I must give people a specific time rather than have it open ended. And as you suggest, early or late arrivers can just phone us. Thanks for sharing you experience.

Hi Gang!

I'm looking at booking a suite on the Breakaway, Pearl, or Gem:rolleyes: in late 2013 or early 2014. This is my first suite and 1st with NCL. My question is in regards to the category where you receive the butler and concierge amenities.

Not worth getting a suite without those perks right!? :p

I've notice for the Pearl and Gem it seems like it's during the Penthouse category. I does not list for the Breakaway on the website. Does anyone know. I've tried calling NCL directly but was on hold for over 20mins to get through to anyone. My dream is to go to Barbados...any means necessary muwahahahaha!!:D

We are staying in the 2 br haven suite S4 on the pearl. Is there Bose sound system in the room, or is that for the other suites?

Have only seen the Bose system in the OS, DOS, and GV on the Pearl (not in the OS on the Jewel). I don't think any other suites have it on the Pearl.

another question anyone want to answer? Is the pool in the Haven private courtyard and pool on the Gem covered or is it retractable? in some pictures it looks like there is something over it.

Have never been on the Gem, but it's sister ship, the Pearl, has a roof that is covered with a retractable roof. Most of the time in the Pearl courtyard (and the Jewel and the Jade) the roof was mostly closed, opened a bit on the end for ventilation.

Can't help you with the Breakaway, but on most NCL ships, any suites starting with "S" have the suite amenities. Suites with a letter following the S (ie. SB, SC, SF, etc) have NO Haven access, suites with a number following the S (S2, S4, etc) DO have Haven access. To be 100% sure about the Breakaway, I would ask NCL. On any existing ships, if you aren't 100% sure, you will get solid answers by posting the exact suite you are interested in right here on CC.

Awesome cabin, access to the spa facility, Haven access and the full list of suite amenities. It is a pretty good hike to the Haven complex, but good for working off calories. :)

We noticed it seemed to be a hike up to the Haven complex which made us wary but we figured it wasn't the worse thing in the world...hope we feel the same after we come back in August! It's our honeymoon/one year anniversary cruise and my husband's first cruise. I have a feeling I'll never want to book an indoor cabin again!

Thank you for posting this. Last time we sailed with NCL the cabin categories were different - we had an aft AF I believe. I am trying to get used to the new categories structure and was wondering about which have access and which don't.

This may be a silly question -- but given the circumstances things are different this time. When cruising in the past we are have always been delivered to the cruise port via public transportaiton (hired van or taxi) and upon arrival you turn your bags over to one of the porters, give him a tip, the bags get piled onto the carts and later they are delivered to your stateroom.

THIS TIME - we are driving and parking in the Miami port lot and will walk to the port building presumably along with our bags. Therein lies my question. Will we appear at the check-in with bags in hand? Is that even an option?

We are in the GVS on the Pearl - so supposedly we will be escorted to our room and there will be an area to secure our bags until the room is ready. It would be nice to not have to wait for our bags to be delievered.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

On our last 2 cruises, the Dawn and the Gem, we stayed in the GVS..We were escorted to Cagney's for lunch and were able to put our carry on luggage in our suite. Our suite wasn't ready but since we were so close, one deck below, there was no problem putting our luggage in our suite..ENJOY .
