So then here is a ? for all you folks here who have a little more cruising exp. then Me( 4x all together 2 with DW and two in my single life-the three trips on the U.S. Navy's Fine accomodations they offer "very special" Flight personnel of the U.S. Army don't count... )

Should I be pro active and call NCL(or MY TA) without getting the call(cruise is 77 days out, but our Deck 10 balcony is paid off) and see if any possibilities exist? i'm hearing from some on my roll call (Gem 10/30) that the sailing is no where near filled up yet...(and i've been confirming this with other third party INternet agencies, prices are still the same(within 20-40 dollars) of what i paid...

I really don't want a "mini-suite," or a "haven" upgrade, I'm looking for an Aft Penthouse or failing that, one of the few aft balconies....The Idea of DW being able to "shoot" (photos, not guns, we are leaving those at home(:-)

from an aft "platform" is intriguing...:D

I looked at your sailing and I don't see any Aft PH's left but there are 2 other categories of PH, for $1639pp and $1999pp. No Aft Balcony cabins either. There are some Aft mini-suites for $1289pp.

Right, thanks Much for the "leg work". Did not really want the aft mini's because they are under the great outdoors. Hoping someone upgrades from an aft penthouse or aft balcony and it becomes available...I'm Mid-Aft-port side on 10 for that trip(10630 now a"BB" but under the old plans it was "BA")...My TA had orig Quoted me a much cheaper price on a mini, but it wasn't aft...And It's all"CRUISIN MAMA06's(Michelle's) fault" that "everybody Knows-the secret's out(Tm SSgt B.A. Baracus) about the aft Cabins!!!(jk! ;)

Side Bar BTW: I shop at VT's(and New England's) #1 Apple retailer SMALL DOG Electronics out of Waitsfield...and My "4-Legged Son" is a "cousin" of the Owners' "4-legged Son"...(they are both BULLDOGS!):D

Make sure you let your PCC/TA know that you would be interested in an upsell. (Some people believe they won't bother to call you if you don't....I really don't know why they wouldn't) The upsell desk does not accept incoming phone calls any more so you cannot call them. There was a person here on CC last year that kept telling everyone to be proactive and call even though everyone kept telling her if everyone started calling again they would go back to their "Don't call us, we'll call you" policy. Now that she spoiled it for everyone....I haven't seen her around anymore.

If your TA calls you will be quoted the full price difference between your current cabin and what you want to upsell to.

Upsells usually are not offered until 1-2 weeks before the sail date.

Keep watching for an AFT. Since you are 78 days out, your final payment should be due any day and some people may cancel right before final payment. I managed to get moved to two deck 10, aft balconies on the Dawn a few days before our final payment was due.

No it's just that anyone that wants to cancel without penalty will have to do it in the next couple of days so there is a better chance one might come open....and you are probably not the only one watching for one. Then when they start doing the upsells, one to two weeks before you sail is another time you may be able to get an aft if someone in one gets an upsell.

Only GV, DOS and OS's officially have theatre seating but other suites sometimes use it also.

I have a Penthouse booked for Feb.2013, on the Pearl. My TA told me that I would have theatre seating. Was she wrong???

No, she's not. We're in PH every cruise, and are always offered the priority or special seating by the Concierge. The way it works does seem to vary by ship and/or concierge, though.

Yes, I've been to Small dog many times. The aft cabins seem to be goobled up pretty quickly. We had originally booked a mid-ship balcony then I upgraded myself to an aft balcony then to an aft PH. DH doesn't know about the suite yet and I'm keeping it a surprise. Keep looking out because some might open up.

DRFootball within two weeks of your cruise they will start upselling those that are in these Aft Facing Rooms. If it's a good enough deal some will actually give up these "Golden" rooms for what they think is better. I love the aft facing and it has to be a pretty special deal for me to give it up. Don't give up hope. They will come available.

As far as the Amenities list I have yet to be escorted to my suite. I have been escorted onboard, but never to my room. I have not been given a pillow menu, and when asked for the special menu for in room dining my "Butler" insisted it was the regular room service menu. We did not get Le Bistro or Cagney Menu in a Romance Suite. Make sure you get what you are entitled to. Your Butler can make or break your expierence. Don't be like my DH and I if your not happy speak up. That's why we did not do a suite this time.

To VideoTech

Thanks for the info. I think I would like that special seating. So, I'm hoping it's offered to me on Pearl. Thanks again.:D

We were in a PH on the Pearl in April and we were told no priority seating for us :(. She did say that if it wasn't full we could always ask on a case by case basis though. We had to leave the cruise early so never tested it.

Our 10/9/11 Sailing on the Gem is a ghost town for a roll call. I'm booked in a mini, would LOVE an upsell to a M1 or actual suite if the price is right. All but one of the M1 cabins are still available. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I booked through a TA, so will it be my TA that calls me?

When we were on the Pearl, the priority seating was for Owner's Suite, Deluxe Owner's Suite, and the Courtyard and Garden Villas.

If there is no one using the theatre seating , then ask the conceirge if you can use it. No harm. We have done it before being in the PH.:)

Yes it will be your TA. You should let them know that you are interested in an upsell to the M1 (they may even call and offer you something different so be prepared) ahead of time and make sure they have a way to contact you immediately as they will not hold the cabin too long and move on to the next person.

Good luck!

I'll do just that. Thanks!

Is this just from all the standard eatier's free of charge? and Cagney's for Breakfast and Lunch with No extra charg, OR a Special MENU?

Never did a Penthouse before, and would like to know what I can and can't ask for, (mm just want to look smart) like I did it before... Any kind of feed back about what to ask for or Expect on the Gem would really be appreciated

We are booked in category SF (aft penthouse). Unfortunately, we are not going until December. Looks like I'll be leaning on you for a review! :D

Well, at the moment, we are only in a midship balcony.

We are one of the few that DID willingly downgrade after having a suite.

The primary thing I think I will miss is the exclusive restaurant for breakfast / lunch...and the added space in the cabin.

If the price is right before we sail, we may upgrade.

We had spa suite on the Epic and while we LOVED the cabin...the rest of the 'perks' were not that impressive to us. Did enjoy the Epic Club and having the right to 'full access' of the ship...but really the rest of the 'perks' didn't make us want to pay for them again! LOL
