granni10 Posted August 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2011 We like free style dining, and wonder if any would comment on Carnivals Liberty version . Is there a long wait time.
firefly333 Posted August 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2011 I have not hear of long wait times, but its best not to show up right at the time the traditional dining starts. Let them get seated and started to eat. They will be in the same dining room you are in.
BIG_Steve Posted August 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2011 On the Imagination there were two lines. The anytime diners walked right past the traditionals, who looked miffed.
blondietink Posted August 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2011 We had anytime dining on Carnival Triumph and never waited at all. There was a separate entrance from the MDR for the anytime diners. We loved it!
Skywench Posted August 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2011 I've had anytime dining on my last three or four Carnival cruises. Would never want to go back to traditional set dining times. I think we may have had to wait one time for maybe about fifteen minutes.
SadieN Posted August 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2011 Larger groups can have a bit of a wait. Our party of 3 experienced a 10 minute wait on the Spirit on CE night at 7pm. Most times we are seated right away.

n1uno Posted October 31, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2011 We like free style dining, and wonder if any would comment on Carnivals Liberty version . Is there a long wait time. We will be sailing on the Liberty in Feb. 2012 I am wondering what Early Dining 6:00 p.m. means? Is this for the main dining room? Thanks for any advice. paul929207 Posted October 31, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2011 Most cruise ships offer what is called Traditional Dining and Anytime dining. With TD, there are two seatings, first or early about 6pm and second or late about 8pm. If you select this, you will eat at the same time, at the same table, with the same table mates and the same waitstaff for the entire cruise. You may choose to go to a specialty restaurant or buffet on any evening. With AD, it is more like eating at a restaurant at home you show up and as seated as soon as a table is available. You will probably be asked if you want to share a table. If you say yes, you will be seated at a larger table with others. If no, you will be at a table for two. Some ships allow you to make reservations.
CruiserBruce Posted October 31, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 31, 2011 You will probably learn tons more if you research this on the Carnival board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
