streetspirit Posted August 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2011 I was wondering if anyone knew if the Ship broadcasted live football (soccer) in any of the lounge areas or on the TV in the cabin? I'll be boarding the ship in October but I can't not go without footie :(
Mines Posted August 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2011 Highly unlikely. But, the good news is that you can go without football - it is just a question of state of mind. Tape the matches and watch them later.

Alternatively buy a wi-fi package and watch it online, please don't subject other passengers to having to watch a mindless game of 22 overpaid morons chasing a bag of pumped up air

Some people love their footy (I am one of them) and would love to watch onboard - thereby combining 2 loves - cruising and watching sports ... make that 4 (drink and snack alongside). Just saying. ;)
SteveCascio Posted August 14, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 14, 2011 We were on Equinox during the last world cup ... The most active venue for watching was in the casino ... People were getting into it! More people watching than playing the games :D.

I don't think it's causing any harm by watching a few games. The 'off season' as you put it tends to be more costly and as I'm a wheelchair user it can be more difficult to book. I can't just take 'any' room. You're entitled to an opinion but don't assume everyone else carries that opinion too. That judgement is just ignorant and rude. If there is no football on I can live with that. I've been on the Independence Of The Seas twice and the Aurora once and was able to watch live footie in the bars. I'd rather not watch football of any type myself, but it's a favourite activity for most men and many women around the world, so it's a bit bizarre to imply that watching it will ruin a vacation. tg1 Posted August 15, 2011 #11 Share Posted August 15, 2011 Without diversity of interests, we would all be in the same place at the same time. Nobody would like that and, on a ship, we might even get wet!

My god, you're going to explore a port, but you're on vacation! How can you possibly read that book, it will obviously ruin your cruise experience! I believe the OP knows exactly what they'd like to do to enjoy their life. Simply because you don't agree with it...well, so what...?? Wish I could help the OP, but no idea at the moment, sorry. However, if I find anywhere while I'm on the Equinox in a few weeks, I'll try to report it back. After all, I would also find watching some EPL an enjoyable use of some of my vacation time! CFamilyWales Posted August 16, 2011 #14 Share Posted August 16, 2011 Dylandude, I think You need to get a life, just because someone else in the world appreciates something you don`t, what a sad individual... The OP asked for factual information not a comment, so if You cannot provide the detail, why both expressing such a negative opinion...somebody take your ball off you as a kid or what ??? :( The sport happens to be enjoyed by a great number of men and women across the world, if we can see games on the cruise great, if not. no big deal. Someone who is worried about his golf tournament is complaining about someone else's desire to "subject other passengers to having to watch a mindless game of 22 overpaid morons chasing a bag of pumped up air"? Really? Sort of on topic: How does Celebrity not have a sports bar? I can understand the desire of people who are not sports fans to not want to have to sit through it and that's why sports bars were invented. My perception of society may be skewed; I do live in Washington, D.C., after all, where the universe even for the wealthy and powerful stops for the (American) football season, but I can't imagine how an up(per)-scaled sports bar wouldn't fit in with Celebrity's image. Seriously you need to get a clue!! The most watched sport on the planet. You wouldnt want to go on a cruise oh lets say anywhere in Europe, South America, AUS and maybe even Mexico. If there is a match on I can guarantee people will be watching it somewhere on the ship. If the ship gets the match. Me being a Chelsea supporter, I will ask for the match to be put on one of the TV's. I dont really care if the whole ship has to watch the match! At least I will be happy as many other cruisers will be too!!! Up the Blues!!!!!

Hi, when I first started sailing Celebrity in 2003 I was on CENTURY and at that time they did have a Sportsbar. Over the next few years they decided to change/remove them. On Century the Sportsbar was removed and turned into a larger Martini Bar. The original Martini Bar was in the corner of "The Crystal Room". This one does alot more business. How can Celebrity not offer them? I guess they feel like they have done ok without them but now have changed a bit again.....the newer S class ships are having new ones located in the Michael's Club location. I guess they will find out how well things go after it is all implemented. And I agree with those who said Dylandude's reply was totally uncalled for:eek:.. thezode Posted August 17, 2011 #22 Share Posted August 17, 2011 I was on a Med cruise a couple of years ago on Millennium and as able to find a bar showing the Champions League Final. Also, last year on RCCL there was a bar showing EPL matches, so there's a good chance you'll find a match somewhere.
