Pre-cruise obsession

I obsess about my cruises from the time I start research on which cruise to book until the cruise is over and beyond. And I normally book 12 to 16 months in advance so that is a long time and a lotta obsessing. I currently do not have a cruise booked which is actually pretty depressing. But I am still on the CC boards living vicariously through everyone else's cruises. It truly is an addiction.

Me too! Our last cruise we only booked about 7 months in advance and I thought I was going to go insane having to wait that long. The next two we have coming up have much longer waits which means even more time for me to obsess. It makes me crazy that I can't get my DH to share my enthusiasm. I'm on these boards everyday, researching and planning and wanting to share all that I'm finding out but he just nods his head and says nothing. It makes me crazy! Heck we've got two cruises booked and I'm already trying to figure out the next one. My step-daughter will be joining us on the Allure in December and this will be her first cruise (she'll be 15 at that time). I thought I could get her to share my excitement by showing her pictures and videos of the ship and talking about all the fun things we can do but, she got bored and went to her room. Are you kidding me?!?!?! So thank goodness for CC and especially this thread. I feel like I'm with "my people". LOL!! :D

The 'my people' comment is hilarious. But I feel the same way. My friends and family just do not want to hear the cruise talk. My son, who cruises with me, will listen to my yapping to a degree but he is not addicted like me. I dont even have a cruise booked OR am researching a future one but I still check the boards daily. As you said, thank goodness for CC, where I feel like I am with 'my people' hehehehehhe.

Just wanted to share my countdown:

:)

Just like Realblonde: wanted to share my countdown. Although I have a much longer wait, I'm so excited about finally booking our Alaska cruise! Now I can become even more obsessed - if that's even possible!:D

I'm right there with you -- if I don't have a cruise booked, I'm miserable! I'm on the boards daily, my own countdown and these others for more info. You never know when you'll get the great hint! For instance, if you like mimosas - carry your bottle of champagne aboard in your carry-on (completely legal) and pack a 1/2 gallon plastic pitcher in your suitcase == stuff small clothes inside. The pitcher is for orange juice off the breakfast bar, of course. One bottle of champagne and about 1/2 pitcher of juice (get before lunch when they stop serving oj) makes great mimosas! who else has a hint?;)

Count me in...our first two cruises were over a year away when they were booked and that was AWFUL. I didn't know then about CC :( I wish I had, it would've made the wait easier.

This time I booked 9 months away and couldn't take it...so I booked one in between :p

I already know which restaurants we're going to eat in on the Allure

Goodness ME, I only booked my cruise two days ago, and it's not until the end of November, yet my mind simply won't get off the topic. I can't stop reading about the ship, the cabin, the activities, the ports of call... AAAAH I feel like I might need to be brain-bleached of all Cruise thoughts until closer to the date, just so I can actually do some work.

Is anyone else getting a bit obsessive in terms of their pre-cruise activities?

As soon as we are booked I start major research on the ports. I have aboiut 40-50 pages saved as Word documents so I know where to go and what it costs, etc.

If you still have your documents for Ravenna, I'd love copies. If not, thanks for posting your ideas - they'll help even without the rest of your research! :D.

email is calhounmail at aol dot com.

thanks

Planning in advance has always been a big thing for me. Maybe because I'm a homemaker and have a lot of free time and empty thoughts. I planned the last cruise we took for 12 months and made it a great family cruise the kids will remember for a lifetime (they'd better or I'll throttle them)

This time its just hubby and I for our silver wedding anniversary and we booked almost a full two years out. We'll need every minute of that time prepaying everything and making sure there are no money issues at all once onboard.

I have most of my excursions planned out and am prepaying casino vouchers and onboard credits. I figure I'll have about $1000 in OBC by the time we sail. The method to my madness there is that any monies not used on that cruise can be used towards the deposit on the booking of the NEXT cruise we take.

I've already checked out the menus for the specialty restaurants and what onboard shows we'd like. I'm even preordering the bottles for our room so they're paid off in advance also. We're generally not big drinkers, so our barbill shouldn't be bad at all. Of course I'm making my cruise consultant crazy, but that's for another post now isn't it? ;)
