slmwo Posted September 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2011 What's the sale consist of? Is this a good deal or just a gimmick? Thanks for any suggestions/advice! Stephanie
agc291 Posted September 21, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I had a $20 price drop or upgrade from a 4E to a 4G... sounds good to me!
cruise_pirate Posted September 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I was just playing with it on my upcoming cruise. It was the same price just a 4 cat. upgrade. So Not too bad of a deal, but we booked early saver and the "Sale" came nowhere close to our price..:)
gunther619 Posted September 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2011 My ES rate is still the same price :(
Brendarudd28 Posted September 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I just checked this out for our upcoming cruise and it's still $100 ($50pp) more than what we paid when we booked PG back in July.
Chrufon Posted September 21, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I'd call Carnival directly to see if they can apply a discount to your already booked Early Saver cruise price.

I am so happy on this cruise I have booked!!! Usually these are always for the sailings right before of after mine, but not this time!!!
bassmaster150 Posted September 21, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I think I hit the jackpot as my cruise dropped by $100 and we have two rooms.

ibcnusoon Posted September 21, 2011 #12 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I must've gotten a killer deal too when I booked a few weeks ago on our upcoming cruise in November. The price now is over $150 more than what I paid.
vettecruiser1 Posted September 21, 2011 #13 Share Posted September 21, 2011 The 72 hour sale was $150 cheapier with a 4 Cat upgrade. I called and they gave me $400 cheapier with a 4 cat upgrade. WOW that a lot of Miami Vice drinks! And this was for Thanksgiving week out of galveston! Sometimes talking to a human can get better results then the online booking agent. I would not be surprised if they lower it again since the Triumph is barely 50% full.

KenyaCruise Posted September 21, 2011 #16 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I got a free upgrade to an aft extended balcony on my Sensation cruise but nothing on my Victory cruise. The Victory cruise is still damn near $300 more pp..... I definitely got a killer deal when I booked the Victory!!! :o
buddylover Posted September 21, 2011 #17 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I think it depends on how full the sailings are....those that are filling up rise and price and don't seem to come down ever.....those that still have lots of vacancies are the ones that all the price reductions are offered on.....so Good Luck! blondietink Posted September 21, 2011 #19 Share Posted September 21, 2011 No dice for us. :( The senior rate with no room guarantee is still the same price as our ES rate where we picked out our cabin. Only 66 days to go!
ccruisequeen Posted September 21, 2011 #20 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I'm not saving a thing on any of my bookings-- the last 72 hour sale, I got $10 off, but now everything's the same
GAMOM4 Posted September 21, 2011 #21 Share Posted September 21, 2011 72 Hour sale is way higher on our cruise .... and actually you can go back out after looking at the price of the 72 hour sale and go back into the Carnival website and look at the prices the regular way and they are cheaper that way.....I've noticed that before also
IslandToIsland Posted September 21, 2011 #22 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I am doing the happy dance right now!! Thanks to this sale I just got upgraded 4 categories and a total of $100 of OBC!! I am so happy on this cruise I have booked!!! Usually these are always for the sailings right before of after mine, but not this time!!! Can you please explain how you got the onboard credit and the upgrade? My upcoming Magic cruise comes up as $110.00 less and I called Carnival and she said you get one or the other, upgrade or onboard credit not both. ShellyinGreenvilleSC Posted September 21, 2011 #23 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I booked an interior room a few months ago. I looked at the 72-hour sale deals would save $70 and could upgrade to a room two floors up, or I could get an oceanview for $50 more. What would you do? And do I call and cancel my other booking and then re-book or do they just make the adjustment to your booking?
ShellyinGreenvilleSC Posted September 22, 2011 #24 Share Posted September 22, 2011 Just got a 4 catagory upgrade at no extra cost!
nolababe504 Posted September 22, 2011 #25 Share Posted September 22, 2011 Can you please explain how you got the onboard credit and the upgrade? My upcoming Magic cruise comes up as $110.00 less and I called Carnival and she said you get one or the other, upgrade or onboard credit not both. I filled out the form on Carnival for the price drop. I then called Carnival and was pretending I didn't know if I could get both and I said I saw that there was a free upgrade for past guests and was wondering if I qualify for that. She didn't ask if I had already applied for the OBC. I checked my cruise info on carnival and it has the new cabin on my funpass. I also received the email saying that the OBC was accepted and applied.
