Another way to state the above is to show how there are no "mini-suites" on the Epic: http://www.epic.ncl.com/the-experience/accommodations/

Instead, NCL is using the "deluxe balcony" terminology you and I prefer.

The last thing I would do is dispute you, however, I'm afraid they are calling them Mini-Suites. I think your link must be old. See here from the current NCL website: http://www2.ncl.com/cruise-ship/epic/staterooms/2/mini-suite#tab_detail

When the first information on the Epic came out they were called Deluxe Balconies (Yea...made me happy for an all too brief moment) but a short time later they revered to calling them Mini-suites. :(

Gee whiz! How annoying that they do that! I wonder which name is bookable?

Answered my own question... They list the "mini-suite" category in the booking areas (with many different types), thankfully separate from the true suites.

If you want exclusivity and a relaxed (mostly screaming-child free) atmosphere, then book a smaller ship. AVOID THE EPIC. I am having a T-shirt printed.

The HAVEN on the EPIC is a waste of space for guests that have paid to be in it.

I have always travelled in a CV with NCL but I am sooooo disappointed with my last EPIC (HAVEN) :( holiday that I am changing cruise lines.

We did not have an issue with that in February, and we are "child sensitive" (in that one or two screaming/crying children sends chills through our spines)! Our two sons are old enough now that we have put those years behind us -- until grandchildren, no doubt! Thinking back, we did not take our kids on vacations when they were so young that they could not be reasoned with. I know that many with young children are really oblivious as to the distracting nature of their kids when adults are enjoying the peace or relaxing. Having said that, I know that such things are inevitable when going out in public.

Perhaps we were fortunate in February, as there were not a lot of children onboard... though I will add that this was the first time I have ever been HIT by a child! We both got on an elevator heading back up to our cabin (CV). A mother and two kids (boy/girl) got on with us. The girl was perhaps 10 and her little brother (5?) was a handful - messing with her. As they were getting off the boy started spinning around and as he stopped, he reached out and punched my leg. The mother looked back and said something like (I can't recall fully now, LOL) "that was not nice" - and proceeded to go. I was dumfounded - first that this child would hit an adult, and second that his mother did not take it more seriously.

OH WELL!!

Nonetheless, heading back to the Epic next month - and looking forward to another GREAT cruise (hopefully minus the little hooligan)!!

My thoughts exactly. But as well how can you blame an entire cruiseline for passengers who obviously do not consider others. The poster did say that they had cruised NCL prior and enjoyed the other courtyards. So why not just avoid the Epic if that is the one that has the Haven you do not like.

there are some adult only ships

P&O(18+), Thomsons(?+), Cruise and Maritime(16+).

Your information is not correct per a popular TA website. I did not feel the need to check the others you list.

P&O Cruises

Pregnant Women: Permitted to board if pregnant for 24 weeks or less on day of disembarkation.

Infants: Minimum age is 1 year.

My kid would be D E D, dead! WOW... That mom is.... WOW...!

I would be absolutely mortified if my daughter.... *shaking my head* The LEAST thing I would expect is an apology demanded by the mom!

Some parents really are not preparing their kids well for life.

You are right. Perhaps I should have referred to cruise lines instead of cruise ships when I asked the original question. The poster said he would change cruise lines.
