I can understand where you may have run into problems with the casino while on board. They don't like contacting the main Player's Club office while on a cruise. I always print out my e-mails from CPC to bring to show the casino, "just in case" there is a problem. Can't wait to read more of your review. (btw - I am a CPC VIP, so I understand what can go right and wrong in the casino, and I sympathize already!:))

Up until now, I hadn't had problems emailing the players club and letting them know that I would be back, but on my upcoming sailing I couldn't ever get an email response, so I finally called them and they "said" I would have $75 casino cash on my next cruise, but I couldn't get them to email me a confirmation of this.

It seems like since it changed from the Ocean Players Club to the Carnival Players Club it got worse.

Thanks for taking the time to share your review. I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip, bumps and all!

Were you in room 7174? If so, was there an upper bunk over the couch? I didn't see an upper bunk in the pictures your posted and was a little concerned (we have the same room booked for Nov. 6th).

Yes we were in 7174. There is a bunk over the couch which goes into the ceiling when not pulled down. Don't worry, it's there. :D

Day 2 – Sea Day

Woke up around 8am and went up to the Lido Deck for breakfast. We both got omelets and a few other items from the buffet. Two things we noticed – the cook making the omelets had 3 hot plates and pans in front of him but was only making 1 at a time and most of the items in the buffet were just warm if not cool – not hot food at all.

After breakfast, we grabbed a couple of chairs by the pool and got some sun. Around 11am, Brad had enough sun and went to the casino to sign us up for the slot tournament and play some BJ. I told him I would come down around 12:15, which I did and we played in the second round. While we were waiting to begin our round, David went over the instructions and started to tell us to begin when he noticed that he had not reset the machines from the last round. Not really sure if this is his niche. Neither one of us made it into the finals, which was fine. Although, we did comment to each other about how “boring” the slot tournament was because David was not motivating the guests and quite frankly appeared lost and confused.

I went back up to the Lido Deck for more sun and watched the Hairy Chest Contest. Always very funny and entertaining. The one thing about this day was it was extremely windy and the seas were about 8ft. I don’t remember that it bothered me all that much, but I do remember the Captain’s announcement stating the weather and sea conditions.

Around 4pm I went back to the casino as I was done with the sun for one day. I played the slots for a little while and then Brad & I went back to the room to get ready for dinner. (Still no basket or water from Player’s Club.)

We met up with Jimmy & Lillian to go to the show together. The show tonight was Jazz Hot and the performance was prior to dinner. I know many people have commented on this and we agree with those that do not like having the show for late dining before dinner. We just feel rushed. We have seen Jazz Hot before but this time it seemed as if the show had been revamped a bit with some new songs, dance moves and another male and female singer were added. We thought the dancers did a great job and one couple sang really well, however, the other couple was just ok and the female (forgot her name) was not very good at all.

Our thoughts on dinner tonight were very mixed. Last night the choices, we felt, were very limited. Tonight was the total opposite. I had heard about the Gator Fritters and wanted to try them and saw them on the menu. However, many of my other favorites were on tonight’s menu as well – shrimp cocktail, stuffed mushrooms, and pumpkin soup. I couldn’t decide, so I ordered one of each. So, let’s start with the Fritters – IMO – GROSS!!! They served you 2 and most of it was fritter and not gator. Blah! Shrimp cocktail – always good – loved it! Stuffed mushrooms – very bland, no taste at all – usually love them and this time didn’t even finish them. Pumpkin Soup – totally awesome – LOVED IT! For the main course, I ordered Prime Rib which was sliced thinner than normal but still very good. Brad ordered the same but ordered a lobster tail in addition and that was brought out with his dinner, which in the past had been brought out separately (not complaining – he prefers it all to be brought out together).

It was sweet to see some people dancing.

We did very well in the casino tonight but had a couple of things happen that stuck out in our minds. I played slots (mainly because the one 3 card poker table was full of loud drunk people) and Brad played BJ. Basically, the slots that I played were no where near where Brad was playing so at one point I had to use the ladies room and saw David. I asked him to come over and asked him what I should do if I had to use the ladies room. (In the past, the host would always get someone or they themselves would stand by my machine so I could run to the ladies room.) David’s response was that I should cash out and go. I’m sorry, WHAT??? I looked at him strangely and just said, oh, ok. I think he caught on pretty quickly because he then said that he would watch my machine while I went to the ladies room. That’s better, David. When I returned, David was no where to be found. I looked all around and he just wasn’t around. Luckily, there was a very nice woman that said she had kept an eye on things while I was gone. I had already earned my free drink card but quickly was told by a server that there is a 20 minute minimum time frame between drinks that you can order. No problem, just didn’t know.

While Brad was playing BJ, he asked to see David to ask him if his play at the tables would help toward his drink card. David was notified and when he saw that it was Brad that had asked for him, he rolled his eyes and walked up to him. Brad asked his question regarding the points and David said that the tables had nothing to do with the points and Brad would have to ask the Pit Bosses to find out what he is eligible for from his play on the tables. David started to walk away but Brad called him back. Now, I must say that at this point, Brad was pretty much done with David. So when David approached him, Brad asked him how he was doing and David said he was having a really bad night because his wireless microphone was not working. Seriously?? How about getting one of the many, many other microphones that were on the ship? Brad mentioned the basket again and again David said he couldn’t help us. We just could not understand this, as the casino IS Player’s Club and you would think that the Host would be able to correct a Player’s Club issue. It truly seemed to us that David just did not want to be bothered with doing his job! We began speaking with other passengers at this point and they told us that they had noticed pretty much the same things with David.

We finally decided to head up to bed around 2am.

Day 3 – Cozumel

We didn’t book any excursions so we slept until about 7:30am and then went up to the Lido Deck for breakfast. I had the scrambled eggs, French toast and bacon. The eggs were terrible. They had a very bad “powdery” taste/texture to them. Usually the scrambled eggs are very good. Guess I just got a bad batch. Everything else was ok, but again not hot food. We were off the ship around 9am and did some shopping. We found the internet café that our server in the MDR told us about. It is just across the street from where you catch a taxi to go downtown. It was $2 for 30 minutes. I barely used 10 minutes and kept the card to give to one of the crew to use at a later date. While there, we sent a quick note to John Heald on FB regarding our experience thus far in the casino.

(Many people may not agree with what we did, by contacting John, but we did what we felt was right for us.)

After that, we did some more shopping and then ended up at Fat Tuesday’s as usual. We are huge Yankee fans and so is the girl that makes the balloon hats. Every time we come here, I admire her Yankee watch and she says she will trade it for Brad’s Yankee hat. Brad will not part with his hat because our daughter gave it to him. However, this time I was prepared. I brought my Yankee bag with me and offered to trade that. She was happy to accept and so the trade was made. I knew I would get another bag shortly after I got home so I wasn’t worried. (Note – at this time, I already have another bag) She explained to us that MLB.com will not deliver to Cozumel (don’t know why) and that she would never be able to get a bag like that. We’ll be sure to bring her back more gear when we return and this time there will be no trade, just a gift for her.

Jimmy & Lillian joined us at the restaurant later and we spent pretty much all afternoon there (until it was almost time to be back on the ship). Following tradition, Brad took a nap when we returned to our room and I got ready for the evening.

Had you actually contacted the Players club and given them all the information from your previous cruise so they could rate you for this cruise?

Like I said, since February of this year I have been having trouble getting them to respond to emails. They completely refuse to use anything but your most recent cruise, which annoy's my only because I cruise 3 or 4 times a year and always have 5000+ points.....you would think you could get a little more loyalty comps based on your cruise history.

I'm getting ready to go on the Conquest on Sunday and immediately following that (I mean the next day after I get off the ship) I am getting on the Triumph.......but the Players club said I would have to call after the Conquest trip and get rated for the Triumph based on my previous weeks play.

They said I could also ask the Casino Host to send a note to the Triumph host to enlist his help. I'm also going to print out my player history on the last night of the 1st cruise.

Wow - you seem to really have hit a bad crew in the casino this cruise! I have never had a problem with someone watching my machine while I used the ladies room! And the eye rolling thing! Uncalled for, no matter what the circumstance! As far as the "new" 20 minute drink rule - I was also told this on my last (VIP) cruise - but as I almost always tip with each free drink, I was inundated with servers wanting to take my order! (within minutes of finishing my current drink) Looking forward to reading more....
