Celebrity Summit March 9, 2012 - looking for excursion suggestions.

Hi all - this is my first post on Cruise Critics and I was hoping to get some recommendations for excursions in St Criox, Dominica and St. Kitts. This is our 5th cruise on Celebrity and we have been to several Caribbean ports, but sadly none of the above. We love the beach and water activities, as well as nature type adventures.

We are also sailing in the "Aqua" class and would love any feedback on "Blu" dining.

Thanks -

Several places for you to do some research.

First, the Caribbean Ports board, here:

Second, your roll call, here:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1362508

Where you can meet others on your cruise and discuss things like this. By the way, that is for March 10th sailing, not the 9th.

Lastly, for tons of good info on Celebrity, the Celebrity board, here:

Please follow cruiserbruce's excellent suggestions. We did this same itinerary back in April. It is extremely port intensive. Highly recommend doing a Buck Island snorkel. In St. Kitts, we went to the Marriott and bought day passes.

We ziplined in St. Kitts which was great and in Dominica we did a tour that was awesome. It was Bumpiing tours and we did the Gorge, hot spring, snorkel. It was an all day adventure very reasonably priced and our guide was super he told us everything about EVERYTHING. it included drinks and was our favorite part of the vacation.

We are on the same cruise and it will be on our 15th cruise. I will get back to you on what to do in each port, first get over and sign up on Roll Call and sign up for Connection Party.

Totally agree with the recommendation for Buumping Tours. Try to get owner Levi Baron as your guide, he's amazing and that was definitely our best tour ever!

The Gorge was quite a memorable experience and we loved the hot springs. Would love to visit Dominica again.

The ATV tour in St. Croix was fun but there is very little to do in Fredericksted so I would recommend heading to Christiansted instead.

Welcome to Cruise critic!

We will be on Summit 2 weeks before you on the same itinerary. Here's what we are doing:

St Croix: Rent a car from Avis and explore island

St Kitts: Rent a scooter from Ride St Kitts and explore island (we are experienced riders)

Dominica: Thinking about River Tubing with Wacky Rollers (you can google them and check them out on trip advisor)

Grenada: Island tour with JnJ Tours for 40 per person

St Thomas: Ship day/light shopping--we are spending 4 days post cruise on St John so no rush for us to get to the beach when we stop.

Our page (Feb 25-March 3) in the Celebrity Connections board has more details and some other ideas too. Come say hi!

We just returned from the Summit. Pre-"Solstizing" so I'm sure the ship will be fantastic. Would love to see it.

In Dominica we went with Nature Isle Explorers and had a tour with Donaldson. Went snorkeling at the Champagne reef, through TiTou Gorge and then to Screw Sulphur Spa. All great. Highly recommend Donaldson and Nature Isle Explorers. Dominica is lush and beautifull.

In St. Kitts we took a taxi drove around the island and went to Brimstone Hill Fortress which was just great. Very high up and impressive on the top of the cliff. Also the shopping in St. Kitts is right by the port. The main town in St. Kitts is quite pretty. Lots of interesting history in the island too. Very green and lush too.

Try the catameran fan ta sea tour. Its a six hour trip to the Island of Nevis. It includes snorkling and a BBq on the beach afterwards. We had a nice day of it.Very relaxing and a very nice beach.http://www.celebritycruises.com/shoreExcursions/product/detail/view.do?backPageUrl=%2Fsearch%2FshorexSearchResults.do%3FDestinationCode%3DCARIB%26DurationCode%3D%26ActivityTypeId%3D%26ActivityLevel%3D%26shipCode%3DSI%26Day%3D05%26Month%3D03%26Year%3D2012%26CurrencyCode%3DUSD%26x%3Dnull%26y%3Dnull%26backPageUrl%3Dnull%26pager.offset%3Dnull&ProductCode=KT08&DestinationCode=CARIB&CurrencyCode=USD&LocationCode=SKB&DurationCode=&ActivityTypeId=&ShipCode=&ActivityLevel=&SortBy=

We will be in St.Croix in Feb on Summit. Who did you use for the Buck Island snorkel? We are going back and forth on what to do. Thanks.

Thanks all for your recommendations.

We are looking at the Buck Island snorkeling in St. Coix and have yet to look up the Bumpiing excursion on Dominica, but it sounds like a fun day. We did the fan ta sea catamaran tour in 2009 when we were in St. Kitts - never made it to Nevis as it was post hurricane. I have signed us up for the Connections Party and look forward to meeting all of you that are on the same sailing.

For those of you who were concerned that the 3/10 sailing was being chartered for Atlantis. I spoke with reps from Celebrity on Saturday and they confirmed that it is the 3/17/12 sailing that has been red flaged with the Atlantis charter. Grateful that it is not going to adversely impact our vacation.

Looking into the Buck Island snorkeling on St. Croix - just need to remember to bring our own snorkeling equipment.

Looking forward to hearing about your cruise. We have friends from Michigan that we met on our Summit cruise in March of 2011 that are sailing on the dates as you. I will recommend that they join cruise critics and look you up.

We did the Fan ta sea excursion back in 2009. We had a great time and almost missed our departure - the guys enjoyed too much of the rum punch on board...
