"LIVE" From the Allure of the Seas - 15 - 22 January 2012

Recommended Posts

Hi Trainman, looks like you are enjoying yourselves!

We were at the Citadele last year. Its about 2 hour car trip from Labadee to the base of the mountain, then you need to get a horse or walk it takes about another 45 mins to get up there, then time to tour. Then reverse it. It would be very tight to do in a day. If I knew how to post pics .... we have some great ones! The view is so beautiful. Would be nice if they could take people but I think there are too many variables to do it.

Great review as always Trainman! We just got off Allure on Sunday and had a great time. We had around 2,000 passengers from Brazil on our sailing and I was wondering if you had a large number also. Large number of children on the ship, and way too many unattended. Lots of playing in the elevators and clogging walkways. Sadly, manners were scarce on the ship regardless of home country.

This area is dedicated to Suite Guests and was pretty nice with a nice staff to take car of everyone.

I swam in the Caribbean (the water was cold) but Judith did not!

Someone said the water was 71 degrees. (I keep my pool on 90)

Here are a few more photos...

The water front cabanas are nice but on hot sunny days in the afternoon sun they are like an oven if there is no breeze.

Trainman-

Loving your review so far. Last month we were at Labadee on the Silhouette and I used the superzoom camera to get some shots of the cabanas while standing on our balcony. Is this W cabana the one that you three used today?

Jim & Judith .... Thank you so much for taking us along on the cruise.

We'll be on the AOS on March 18th-25th .... and can't wait. Fortunately, by cruising with you & Radio it helps to get me ready and shift my thoughts from cold NY weather!

We truly love the "food porn" as it was earlier called .... Love getting the pictures & food reviews!

Rest up & we'll be back with you tomorrow!

The two Cabanas on pilings over the water are W-3 (left) and W-4 (right)

We were in the right hand Cabana yesterday.

NOTE: These Cabanas face to the west and about 1:00 pm the sun is shining directly on them and they get HOT!

Last Night we (Judith, Rev, and myself) had Dinner at the Chef's Table!

The location is above the Concierge Lounge.

We were escorted to the table at 7:45 pm and this is what we saw. A large table set for 12.

Here is the menu - I hope you can read it!

Here are photos, in order, of the five courses. I forgot to shoot a photo of the 5th course (desert) Perhaps I had too much wine.

After dinner we went directly to our cabin and arrived there about 11:30 pm. Math Experts will surely conclude that the dinner took about 3 1/2 hours.

As we were walking back to the Cabin, Judith commented that now that we had done it there was no need to do it again.

I enjoyed it, even though it took much longer than I liked and they kept pouring me wine (I normally don't drink) that has been "paired" with each course.

Just before each course was served, the Chef came out and explained what it was, what was in it, and how it was cooked. This was nice! Unfortunately, because of the Chef's Accent, we could not understand much of what she said.

For each wine pairing, the Waiter told us about the wine, where it came from, what it was made from, etc. Again, there was a language barrier.

After desert, they gave us each a RCI Cook Book signed by the chef and an apron.

If you can't stand a long, drawn out dinner, then don't go!

I enjoyed it! It is the luck of the draw who you are sitting with. There are 12 seats and 2 people didn't show up. We had great table mated and good conversations.

I recommend everyone try it!

Hi Trainman.

This is such a treat to be able to follow you. I'll be there in 68 days!:D

Will you let us know if you see the buckets of beer?

Have a wonderful time. You're the best!

I have seen them around. I will get some photos...

The Internet went down yesterday shortly after we sailed and every time I checked it was still down last night.

I don't understand why they can't do anything with their internet connection. Royal's internet has been slow no matter which ship I'm on. We recently tried a Celebrity cruise (Silhouette) and the internet connection was great! As a matter of fact I was checking email right from my cabin on my little ipod.......LOL I was quite surprised at the great connection. With so many people still working while on vacation (via internet), you would think Royal would do something to have a better connection.

I've never been to Falmouth so looking forward to some photos and information on the island.

Thanks again,

Patty

Since we were heading west, I walked out through the Board Walk early this morning for my sunrise photo.

ZOLTAR made me jump as I walked by. I was the only person on the boardwalk.

DSCN4395.jpg

The Board Walk was dark and the floor was wet but I made it to the secret place behind the Aqua Theater where the Shuffle Board Courts are.

And I shot this photo looking back into the Board Walk area.

Later on while Judith slept I went to Johnny Rockets for breakfast which was disappointing.

The Omelet was dry! The Bacon was greasy and not cooked completely! The French Toast was just barely "OK"

I shot this photo on the way back to the Cabin.

We will be on the Pirate Ship at noon with Captain Hook.

Tonight we are going to the Festival at Rita's Cantina.

More later everyone...

Have a great day in Falmouth!

I can't wait to hear all about the port as it is a new one for me in Feb.

Thanks for a great report!!:D

Your breakfast pictures look great. I love those pastries that look like a lattice top and are apple insdie. If you think about it one day at breakfast could you check and see if they still have them. They could be my breadfast with a cup of coffee the whole week, they are yummy.
