That is so dishearten to watch! She will start taking in more water no and sink.

The ship is already resting on the bottom. The concern is that it will slide down the shelf that it is on and go deeper - much deeper.

An Italian Priest said he was going for 'a week of contemplation and prayer'. It was then discovered he was on a cruise on the Concordia.

He's going to have some explaining to do

Hey, even the Apostle Paul was shipwrecked.

From shipwreck in Italy, a treasure now beckons

By VANESSA GERA, Associated Press

ROME — In the chaotic evacuation of the Costa Concordia, passengers and crew abandoned almost everything on board the cruise ship: jewels, cash, champagne, antiques, 19th century Bohemian crystal glassware, thousands of art objects including 300-year-old woodblock prints by a Japanese master.

In other words, a veritable treasure now lies beneath the pristine Italian waters where the luxury liner ran aground last month.

Though some objects are bound to disintegrate, there is still hoard enough to tempt treasure seekers — just as the Titanic and countless shipwrecks before have lured seekers of gold, armaments and other riches for as far back as mankind can remember.

It may be just a matter of time before treasure hunters set their sights on the sunken spoils of the Costa Concordia, which had more than 4,200 people on board.

An eagle eye observer on another forum noticed that the aft panel of the amidships magrodome has fallen into the sea. Thanks Deb for the tip.

You can see it on the time-lapse of today's images around the 50-52 second mark at this site:

WHY? There were lots of things he could have contemplated on board and there's no rule you can't pray on a ship surely?

I think he was guided there by divine providence to act as a chaplain to all those shipwrecked. I'm sure he will be more than able to convince any doubting Thomases in his flock! Schettino may find it more difficult to get off the hook.

The Captain sent an eMail to another captain weeks before saying he could get closer.

The woman was on the bridge with him.

The Captain was busy talking on the phone.

I think it cannot be that a woman disturbs the captain on the bridge and causes this tragedy! Sur, the captain has to be blamed for this catastrophy, but the woman isn't free of guilt! She disturbed the captain, so he wasn't concentrated on his work - and I assume, they drank alcoholic drinks!

Are there any news about pumping out and salvaging?

saying he could get closer. ===> Motive.

The woman was on the bridge with him. ===> Minor distraction, adds to bravado.

Why am I not seeing the bit

where Captain had been consuming alcohol not long before taking the helm to carry out his dare?

Alcohol impairs judgement and is very much a part of why this all happened.

Capt. Schettino simply waited too late to make his turn.

Had he made his turn just 10-15 secs earlier, he would have won his Dare with the other Captain

and we would not be discussing this

.
