Rare fabnfortysomething Posted February 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2012 there are actually 3 different HOHO buses in Dublin run by different companies but which have similar routes. one is run by the public transport company so the tickets are valid on the normal buses as well-handy if staying outside the city centre i believe it is the green route but need to check contact the Dublin tourist information centre online who will be able to help
fairbourne Posted February 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2012 What is the difference between the Red and Green Ho-Ho? Thanks Doug I think the green buses have "live commentary" from the drivers which can be extremely entertaining as we found out last year, and the red have pre-recorded commentary. From memory they have very similar routes and stops around the city. Well worth doing if you have limited time as you get a great feel for the city. It's beautiful by the way! If you're looking for a great traditional Irish night, we went to the MerryPloughboys Irish Pub. It's great fun with traditional music - they are a very good band, irish dancing and you get a decent meal as well! They have a website you can google. We were on a big table with some Canadians and a party of physicians from all over the US on a golfing tour - so it was great fun! As their pub is a bit out of the city they do a bus service to take you there but when we told our hotel concierge we were going there, they came and collected us from the hotel and returned us in a private car with no extra charge! Enjoy your trip! :)
NSWP Posted February 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2012 We did the red Ho Ho in Dublin 2009 when we called into Dublin on Crown Princess. They operate very close to where the cruise ship shuttles stop..strange that ! And keep your ticket for a 10% discount on your next HO HO anyway in the world, also don't forget to ask for a 'Seniors Discount' if you are of that age. Sometimes there are such discounts. The Dublin Ho Ho also stops at the Guinness Complex in St James Gate, get off there for a visit - highly recommended. Above all..Enjoy !

Yorkiebargirl Posted February 7, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2012 We will be on the Caribbean Princess in August. I have bought our tickets for the green HOHO bus. How did you get into Dublin? Did Princess or someone else offer a shuttle into Dublin? On a different cruise line last year they ran shuttle buses. Also taxis were waiting. Quite a way into the city from the dock. But I do believe there is public transport quite close. Google tripadvisor Dublin forumn and you will find out anything you want to know from people who live in Dublin.
