Box wine

Recommended Posts

I'm not concerned with where to buy it, I want to know if people have had success bringing it on board...preferably, in their checked bags

Yes, take the bag out of the box and place in a 2-gallon zip lock. We placed it among our clothing. The small boxes fit nicely into tennis shoes. We carry on 2 bottles with screw top lids. When we finish one bottle we pour the bagged wine into the empty bottle. Haven't had a problem yet in all the cruises we've taken.

Ah! So I'm wrong in my policies!

Hm... Time to hunt for a smaller box, methinks!

A friend of mine cruises every year for last 10 years....they take 2 if not 3 boxes of wine (3 litres each) in their luggage and have NEVER had it taken away ....

I've never unboxed it. BotaBox is pretty good and the box isn't flashy. Kind of a plain brown wrapper. I always pack it down by the wheels and under my bottles of shampoo, lotions, and cosmetics. If there's a liquid alarm, they see those thing and never have taken our box.

There's a convenience store right by the port in Seattle that sells plenty of boxes for Alaska sailings.

just to reiterate to the OP , you MUST carry it on and not pack it in your luggage. The reasons are obvious.

They will keep it if they find it because they dont know if you also carried on

It might break and your clothes and the clothes of others could be ruined

its against the rules
