Punchliner Sea Day Brunch Review

It is cost cutting they have taken 2 meals and 2 menus cut them and combined them to 1...how is that not cutting?

How is this cost cutting?

There are more choices. The MDR will be open more hours. The only difference is that more people will have more options to enjoy.

It's not like they limited the amount of food you can eat!

You could also go for the 9AM breakfast show...and then go back in the afternoon for the lunch show.

So...again...how is this cost cutting.

I told my husband about this...and he's equally as excited as me.

Will be on the Miracle on 6/7 and I am definitely looking forward to this new option for breakfast.

On a sea day I do not want to have to rush to get breakfast and get up early to do so. That is one of the main reasons I choose the buffet since I can pick and choose what I want to eat without the mad rush to make the dining room.

I can sleep later and still enjoy more than just a danish and coffee for breakfast.

Intend to try this out on sea day since we will have 4 of them!

Normal breakfast menu in dining room is same old, same old choices. This promises much more variety in the selections. Again, we normally do not eat in the dining room for lunch either. Having breakfast there under the new menu choices will allow us a great variety. Probably will still do buffet for lunch and also go to pizza area for a slice or two.

If you think this is cost cutting, go on RCCL to really see what cost cutting means! Lots of extra pay options even on the regular dining room menu if you want a decent steak!

From those that have posted, it's five minutes!!!! What is the big deal of perhaps having your brunch interrupted for five minutes?

I also don't know why the posters who say this is another costing measure. It is AN ADDITION. Geez, give them a chance. Carnival is trying new things and so many of you are against everything. Lighten up please.

Until you try something, and I know spitracer did, and perhaps it is being tweaked, don't be so darn negative. Not everything is a cost cutting measure!!! Go ahead, flame away.

What are you yelling !!!!!!!!! at ME for? I didn't say anything about COST. I mentioned that I'm not sure about comedy while I'm eating my eggs (a JOKE!) and I also said that I would be willing to give it a try. Sheesh!!!!!

Got off the Spirit on Friday & they still had different lunch menus. It's actually our favorite meal on the ship - very relaxing. I see how it's cost cutting - on sea days we go to breakfast & lunch - now it will be just one meal. BTW the brunch menu is listed on Carnival's website. You just have to hunt for it.

On our Summit Cruise 2 years ago they had brunch on one of the Sea Days - It replaced what used to be the midnight buffet and was very similar in stature and structure - only with breakfast food too.

This was a win for us as DW loves breakfast food and I much preffer lunch (particularly if its shrimp).

We both enjoy the the pace of sit down meal vs a buffet so this sounds very nice to us.

No so sure about the comedy - maybe I'm turning in to an old grump - but I have to be in the mood to laugh.

Sorry, I wasn't yelling at you. Only the first line was for you, in that I didn't realize that what you said was a joke. I was trying to say that if you didn't like comedy at breakfast, it was only 5 minutes of your breakfast.

Others felt it was a cost savings measure. I just went on from your quote to talking about the others. I don't think it is a cost cutting measure. :)
I long ago came to the conclusion will label any change as cost cutting when it really isn't. It is adding options and it is good. I like not having to rush to get breakfast and can sleep in a little.

Filet mignon is not the cheapest cut of beef.
Its nice they are offering a new item but I am willing to bet those are processed filets. Meat glue and tenderloin scraps. It can be done fairly well though.

Not sure if I will ever be able to try it. I prefer traditional MDR breakfast earlier then 9 so I wont be on the ships offering it.

Still good to see Carnival try new things, even if I choose a different line because of it, its still good to see someone the industry try and innovate.

Personally, I don't see much I would eat on the new menu. Probably because I don't eat eggs, so that cuts out a lot of the menu.

I would eat the pancakes, bacon and homefries. So I would still find something to eat. But just disappointed in the menu.

Oh well, we are going on the Dream in August, so it won't be rolled out on that ship yet. So I don't have to worry.

So on sea days there is no breakfest or lunch as there was in the past, but brunch starting at 9am till 2pm-ish.
The menu is a mix of breakfest and lunch items, many of the same things we have seen on the normal breakfest menu with a few twists like cereal encrusted french toast, filet mignon and eggs, some mexican inspired dishes and the lunch side includes a samon dish, caesar salad with different offered toppings, and some other items. This menu does not change.
It should also be noted that there is no lunch served in the dinning room on shore days.
So.....They are no longer serving LUNCH. (:mad::confused::cool::o = Stages of denial)

Hmm interesting. I would rather see brunch at the lido though, a brunch buffet would be nice. I think brunch and buffets go well- makes me think of the fancy champagne brunch buffets at the casinos. I never was a fan of lunch in the MDR so that does not phase me. Or it might be nice if they did it one sea day, just to mix it up. I guess I have to try it out first to really form an opinion.

It will not be just one meal...there will be breakfast and there will be lunch items. You can go at 9:00 am and go again at 1:00 pm...are you not getting 2 meals and times that way?

If I go to breakfast at the country club here it will cost me about $12.95 per person. If I go to lunch it will cost me about $15.95 per person. If I go to Sunday brunch it will cost me $24.95 per person. So, they charge more because people like the option of both and the times of not being limited...BUT still have breakfast and lunch in the buffet...
