citygirl62 Posted May 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2012 Hi, has anyone experienced being on board with a power outage? Is there back up lighting in corridors and staterooms so you are not in complete darkness? Is it a good idea to bring an LED flashlight just in case? It would be very disorienting and scary to be in an unfamiliar place without light, especially below decks.:(
CruiserBruce Posted May 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2012 Yes. The emergency lighting is the same as on planes and more modern hotels. Exit lighting and floor lighting in case there is smoke.

cb at sea Posted May 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2012 Everyone should bring a small flashlight....most are lightweight...no need to bring a huge one!
Jimnbigd Posted May 3, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2012 There are several threads about the Carnival Splendor power outage in November, 2010, and how passengers with inside cabins had no light (or those with outside cabins at night also).
calliopecruiser Posted May 3, 2012 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2012 If you've got a smartphone, there may be an app for that! I have a flashlight app on my iPhone, but I also have a small penlight on a keychain.
SadieN Posted May 3, 2012 #7 Share Posted May 3, 2012 I attach a small flat flashlight to my lanyard.
