Cruise to Bermuda?

Recommended Posts

Is there really only one Carnival cruise to Bermuda between now and next year??

I want to get my mom a nice mother's day present and I was thinking a cruise to Bermuda...would love to book with Carnival.

spread your wings and try another cruiseline.

We are going to Bermuda from NY on NCL in a couple of months.:)

Yep, Splendor is cruising to Bermuda from N.Y. 4/16/13. That's all there is.

Yes, just 1 next spring, sadly.

HAL is doing a great itinerary through the end of August & then that is it for them, too. They dock for THREE nights in Hamilton, which is a BEAUTIFUL thing compared to the dockyard, location & time wise. May be worth a look if you are interested in this summer.

Otherwise your options will be slightly limited out at the dockyard next year, NCL, RCCL and X.

Of course there is that 1 CCL cruise & maybe that will work?

Which happens to be a horrible option because it will not be very warm in Bermuda yet...you would think they would capitalize on that market and cruise Bermuda in the summer...the Glory, the Miracle or the Pride could do one a month...

That is very strange indeed. So, the answer is either yes, or all of the schedules aren't showing up...if you want to try other lines there are plenty...

Unfortunately, the answer is really yes:(

The options are rapidly dwindling as well.

Bermuda needs to give a little & let the lines open the casino & shops in the evening while in port, thats a big part of the problem.

As I understand it, they are talking with HAL & MAY work something out for 2014, fingers crossed.

yup. only one.

in the past ten years, they've only exceeded that twice; once for a string of summer cruises out of ny in 2002, and a bunch last year out of ny, baltimeore, and charleston.

this year and next are back to 1. this year's sailed already.

ncl has a new ship coming, and the explorer does bermuda every three weeks or, with some exceptions.

celebrity goes there also, based on the latest police report.

Does the new ship go to Bermuda in the summer? I only looked at one date and it was that LOVELY Port Canaveral, Freeport, Nassau cruise, I don't mind Nassau, but you can have the other 2...I mean, atleast Freeport is an actual island and has palm trees and beautiful water...Port Canaveral has Ron Jons, the Kennedy Space center, tan sand and dirty water (found out that those casino boats don't have to be that far out to dump their toilets...the ones that sail off the coast of Port Canaveral and haven't been in that water since) and Disney...

Maybe that's why I was confused...I remember seeing a bunch of options last year, must have assumed that was a regular thing. :( lol

I thought a saw a bunch last year too, I was shocked when I only saw one...I just gave my friend a bunch of grief about sailing to Bermuda in April when the water is too cold to go swimming...I guess that is why she went in April.

This is why I did the only Glory sailing to Bermuda from Norfolk last year. I had originally booked Pride, but Glory was much less and a much easier drive to the port. The Fantasy sailings didn't appeal to me because they were in port over the weekend, and I read many comments about how many places are closed on Sundays and the ferry/bus schedules are rather limited.

Unfortunately, we were only in port 1-1/2 days, so really couldn't do much on the 2nd morning.

I was fairly disappointed, really.

I'd go back under the right circumstances. Would love to do the HAL cruise, but since I'm mostly cruising solo these days, it's just too expensive. Don't particularly want to sail out of NY, either.

Maybe on X some day.

You do know that HAL only charges 150% for singles? Also, if you look at the cruises on the Veendam after September 3rd, they are really cheap. Have sailed many times to Bermuda in September since 1992 and only once did we have to leave a day early because of tropical storm. September is perfect weather in Bermuda. Just a thought! ;)

The NCL Breakaway will be going to Bermuda and I think it will start going there around May of 2013. The prices are a bit higher but the amenities look AMAZING. I'm impatiently waiting to see what entertainment options the ship will have. My husband is really wanting to try it out because the spa amenities are supposed to be pretty awesome.

We did Bermuda from NY on NCL and it was great !!!!

No the casinos are not open but they are going over and returning--enough time for me to lose money:D

We are looking at NCL Breakaway for 2014. Looks like a great ship:)

Bermuda is breath-taking worth a second trip

Cruised to Bermuda 5 times. Four on RCCL and 1 on NCL in 2010. I will not do NCL again as the food and the service were terrible.

Having said that, Bermuda is our favorite destination of any where we have ever been and you need at least 3 days there. It is not really warm enough outside the April to October time to go there. Bermudians are the friendliest people I have ever run into.

What many people don't realize is that tourism is not the biggest industry in Bermuda. Bermuda has one of the highest standards of living in the world and they don't really need the tourist business. Their top industry is insurance. That's why there is an insurance company on every corner in Hamilton.

My recommendation would be to take Celebrity. I agree with another poster that September is a fantastic time to go.

Didn't realize they were stopping so early this year. We sailed the Veendam the last two years. Still, the last sailing 8/26 starts at $799/pp, not bad.

No it isn't bad at all! It was even cheaper for an inside when we booked, it was 699 if I recall! So who knows, it may go down again.

We paid 1299pp for a verandah suite and it is now up to 1599pp! A few weeks ago I saw it was up to 1699:eek:! That would have been beyond our budget if we waited, so I'm thrilled!!:D

We did that same cruise and it was WONDERFUL!

The problem with Carnival and Bermuda is that NCL, RCCL and X had the prime days at Dockyard. Carnival had the "left-over" days, which did not coincide with leaving on weekends. NCL had made a deal with Bermuda way back when, wherein Bermuda "promised" that they would consider letting them keep the casinos open. After NCL signed the deal, Bermuda said that they could not do it, since their people were opposed. NCL and the other lines now take two days sailing there or two days sailing back to make-up for the lost revenue.
