Princess meet and greet procedure

Nice touch using hometown info on the tags and Princess stationery for staff invites =]

We're also in Skywalkers on 1st sea day and I thought that would allow for 'cruise friendships' during the week too.

I'm showing my newbie status probably, but what CD? You mention enjoying the cruise friendships 'including the CD' -- but I don't know what that means.

Thanks!

Thanks...didn't go there at all with CD (obviously).

Feeling a little silly, but no one's too smart to learn, so I'll keep asking when I don't know.

Can see where meeting the "CD" on the first day could be helpful during the cruise too.

=]

Everyone was a newbie once and has gradually learned the acronyms and the terminology used on these boards. Feel free to ask anytime a strange one drifts by.

  • 4 weeks later...

I volunteered to organize a meet and greet for our cruise starting next week. Have never done this before, so I read this thread with a lot of interest. I would like to get some of the Ship's Officers to our venue and I have noticed that some people have a good response and others have virtually no Ship representatives.

So, I have made up personal invitations, as suggested on this thread, and I am considering putting in the following to get a better response from the Ship's officers- "While this is a no-host bar event, I will have a bottle of Wine available so that you can have a drink on us, if allowed."

From your experience, when a Ship's officer attends, do they ever drink or would this not be allowed? My thought was that I might get more attendance if the employee does not have to go out of pocket to mingle with a drink in their hands. However, after thinking about it, this may be against their policy and I would not want to cause any problems with ship policy.

Hi There

Having had up to 16 officers at a meet once,

my advise is to request to see the Cruise Director and Hotel Manager

before your meet and hand them your invite, these officers are often

happy to chat at your meet, if they can not make it, they will often offer

up an assistant etc,

Hi There

Officers will not take anything more than a soft drink at a meet,

have spent time with a few at a bar in the evening after they changed

as they did not want to be seen drinking while in uniform

Doug:

I just returned from the Grand and had 2 M & G meetings. I have templates for letters inviting the Principal Officers to our M & G plus an invite to the photo department. I left them at the main desk with the exception of the Photo department which I delivered personally. I also verified the day of the event that their would be a photographer present for a group photo. I also organized a slot pull in the casino. If you would like a copy of my templates and the officers that I invited please email me at trbarton743@aol.com and I will send it to you.

I think I'd prefer those on duty...or about to go there...not drink an adult beverage. They're not on vacation; we are.

Besides, my guess is, at least the Captain & most officer orders are on the house.

This has been an interesting forum and the onboard invite info has been a big help. I am also still looking for ideas, related to things to do at the M&M. Ones that will encourage interaction hopefully.

Thanks for all your feedback. You confirmed what I thought was the case, they are on duty and it would not look good for them to have a drink in their hands:o.

I have already designed personal invitations but I will send you an email Tom, as I would like to see if I should make any other changes. I was going to send a post to you a few days ago, but I noticed you were on your cruise.

One other question, how about inviting the entertainers for the cruise? I received an email from Princess on two of them and was considering sending an email invitation ahead of time on their website.

I can't recall seeing an entertainer at a M&G, but I don't know how often they are invited. Since they are professionals, they don't interact with the passengers too much. A better ber might be the lecturerers.

I like that idea, Doug -- and I just might steal it from you if I can figure out a way to make it happen.

Lecturers are fine if there's broad reach in the topic, but an entertainer could definitely make things a bit more lively.

And, actually, I might check with the people in our roll call to see what their thoughts are.

Thanks!

Now I'm wondering: what email from Princess? In their eblast news or from the booking summary (pre-cruise emails) on their site or somewhere else.

Will be difficult to invite someone without knowing who they are =]

Do you mean an office, entertainer, etc? If so, I just get their names when we board. There is a list of the senior officers in the first Patter.

If you mean people from your roll call, I just post the info on the Roll Call. I have never sent invites.

MidwesternCruiser2, I received an email from Princess that at the top said my cruise is in 2 weeks and here is your Cruise Director and Circle Host.

Then towards the bottom of this email, it shows me two of the entertainers for my cruise. I then googled their names and found they each have a website with the ability to email them or possibly their subordinates.

So, today I will send an email to each of them explaining our Meet and Greet and would they like to stop by for 5 to 10 minutes, and I plan on reviving the first drink is on me as I assume entertainers would not be restricted from a drink in their free time.

I will give it a shot, nothing ventured ...

So, when I booked the venue and time with the on-board coordinator at Princess, he provided me with a list of all the ship officers so that I can have the invites done before I get to the ship. Once on the ship, I plan on going straight to the pursers office to have the invites distributed.

That should work just fine
