Casino at Sea- Foxwoods

Tried calling the Casino at Sea dept today to get some rates for an upgrade for a 2013 cruise on the Pearl and start the process for a certificate we got from Foxwoods in CT. I called twice and was on hold 45 minutes each time until finally I got a live person.

The representative states they weren't able to quote any upgrades as the system wouldn't allow it but to call back tomorrow around 1230pm when it more staff was avail to take incoming calls so I wouldn't be on hold so long.

What are others experience w/ the casino at sea dept? I did ask if she had an email address where I could email her like I do with my PCC, and she stated she didn't have personal email.

She was very nice, but calling around 1230 on a work day is virtually impossible and I asked if she could follow up with me tomorrow, and she said I needed to call back in.

Thoughts?

Dealing with Casino at Sea is a bit of a pain because their hours aren't great, their policy is to not make outgoing calls and they seem short staffed right now, but I find it's always worth it in the end. I call anytime during business hours, but I put my phone on speaker and let it make noise until someone picks up.

Honestly, I didn't even think CAS took calls on Sunday.

Thanks.. They are actually open M-F 9am-9pm and Sat-Sun 1030-7pm. I've been reading some older posts, do you know if you get taxed on the "free cruise" part?

I didn't realize the hours had changed. I guess I am a creature of habit and didn't bother to check lately.

As far as the free cruise, unless it's different than what I have booked in the past, you will be charged tax and the non-commissionable fee. On the cruise I just booked, that was $141 in taxes (same as it shows when booking) plus $175 non-comm (which you normally don't see broken out since the law changed on how they have to show pricing). I also upgraded, so of course I had to pay for that. Still a GREAT deal, but not totally 'free'.

If you are asking if you get a 1099 (I think that's the form for miscellaneous income) to claim it at tax time, my answer is no.

Thanks for the number! I will call tomorrow as I have a card from a cruise last summer. I doubt my points (or whatever they're called) are going to be good next summer, but maybe they can tinker with the price I got for my next cruise. It can't hurt to ask!:D

I received a balcony comp from Foxwoods and booked a January 2013 sailing on the Pearl a month or so back. For out of pocket costs you are looking at in the ballpark of $175 Guest Fare pp, Government Taxes/Fees $135.39 pp, Service Charge $84 pp, and Travel Protection $59.00 pp if you choose to add this. What you will be charged to upgrade will depend primarily on what category your comp is for and what category you want to upgrade to. We upgraded to a minisuite, and because this was a Latitudes promotional cruise CAS discounted my upgrade rate and gave me $50 OBC. No this certainly was not a "free cruise", but since we love to cruise even with adding air it was still a very good travel value for us.

I would suggest before you give CAS a call back have a list made of the cabins that may be still available that you are interested in upgrading to. Since cabin availability changes minute by minute, also have the Pearl Deck Plans page opened on your computer so you can check quickly for cabin offerings in the event those you interested in are no longer available.

Based on the handful of cruises we have booked through CAS, upgrades work like this.

Take whatever your comp deal is - say an oceanview. Go to the website and find the EXACT same category - there are multiple within each level. Then price out what you want. They will charge the same difference to upgrade, or very close to it.

Quick question... how did you get a crusie from FOXWOODS?.... not that I go there lol;)

CAS works with many different casinos, not just the Harrah's/Ceasar's chain. They're in the business of getting gamblers onto their ships.

We've never had a issues dealing with CAS. We always start the process with our Harrah's marketing rep, though. He does the initial inquiry for us, then we sometimes deal with CAS directly after that.

They're reasonably good with the comps. Some ships & itineraries & dates are better than others, of course.

If you have been on NCL and used your players club card there, call and see if you are rated already and can get the deals.

IMHO Foxwoods is not nearly as nice as Mohegan, but haven't been there in years as we have been treated well at the Sun. Just got done with a nice parrothead party there last week. Ready to head back to the Caribbean after that.

... i keep gambling at Mohegan Sun when i should be gambling at Foxwoods for a free cruise!!!!!! i never knew they did anything with CAS ... :p

MS has its affinity with RCI and has been offering it to top tiered players - just haven't seen this year's yet. The deals are okay, except that it isn't exactly free, it's prepaid already - rated rebate on your "investments" for playing ...

We get offers directly from CAS every year - got got one recently to sail on NCL. Trump Plaza at AC did a promo recently with Princess ...

What better ways for cruise lines to fill up their cabins in the slower off-seasons ;) :D
