ymillo Posted August 29, 2012 Author #52 Share Posted August 29, 2012 Day 3: St.thomas, USVI On our last cruise on the Glory, we also got to see st.thomas. Therefore, this time around we already had a feel of the island and were even more excited to go somewhere new. From the start, our plan was to wait and get to st.thomas and see how many ships were in port. Reason why is because we really wanted to go and check out Magens Bay. However, having heard that it gets crowded when there are alot of ships in town we skipped it last april on the glory since there was 3 cruises in port that day. This time around, we docked in st.thomas took a look around and noticed the victory was the only ship in port(hooray) so we sticked to our plan & Magens Bay it was! & ohh was I glad thats where we headed!! We walked down the gangway at about 8:00am and headed straight to the port area to catch a taxi and take us to magens bay. The views along the way to magens bay are gorgeous, so make sure to have your camera ready with you. I was not able to snap any good pictures because unfortunately we were seated in the middle of the seat in the taxi and there was people to the sides which I could not lean over them lol. The ride to the beach was approximately 20 minutes long and the cost of the taxi was $16 for the both of us. Entrance fee to magens bay is $4 per person. All I can say is that I now know why this beach was voted one of the best beaches in the world. The water and the views are absolutely stunning and without a doubt this was the best beach day we had in all 7 days of our trip. We were initially planning on doing the sky ride to paradise point in the afternoon, however, we were having such a great time at the beach and it was such a beautiful day that we decided to just stay there. There is a little bar right on the beach where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink with decent prices. All we had was A corona & a rum punch for me:D and that was only $9, pretty good! For those of you looking for a little more to do other than swim and tan, there is paddle boats and kayak rentals available. We rented a kayak and it costs us $30 for a full hour. We really enjoyed that as well. All in all, we headed back to the port area at 2:00pm becuase I wanted to do a little shopping before getting back onboard. The taxi cost for the ride back was the same $16 for both of us. Great day, Great beach and great weather ! & now let the pictures do justice:)

jmecme Posted August 30, 2012 #67 Share Posted August 30, 2012 More please :D. Only tour we have booked for our cruise (in 45 days, just sayin'!) is turtle snorkeling in Barbados with Elegance Barbados. Photos and videos look fantastic. Also have the Chef's Table booked, not sure what night that will be held on. Did you do this or hear anyone talking about it and what night it is on? Keep the pictures and review coming!!! Thanks.:) Thank you so much! glad you are enjoying it:) Beautiful pictures! Are some of these instagram-ed? Thank you!! only the airplane shots and one of the magens bay pics with the colorful kayaks, because those were taken with my phone:) The rest are with my camera no edits. Great review, so far. I can't wait to read the rest. My family and I are sailing the victory on Sep 23rd. The Magens bay photo are beautiful. I am still thinking about whether we should go spend some time there or not. I am travelling with a 3yr old child and 6 month old infant. Luckily granny is coming along too to help my husband and I.. Aw sounds like you will have a great time. I would definately recommend you go to Magens Bay. Perhaps you can double check and see how many ships are in port on your day (that way you know if it will be crowded or not). I think your kiddo will have a great beach day there:) if not, we have also gone to sapphire beach last april and that was nice also!

ymillo Posted August 31, 2012 Author #70 Share Posted August 31, 2012 Day 4: Day at sea! Tuesday approached and we were kind of happy to wakeup knowing we could have a nice day to simply relax, roam around the ship, get some sun and enjoy some time in the serenity deck. This was the only day where we slept in (till 8:30am). Yes! every other day we were up by 6:30am having breakfast on our balcony and watching as we pulled into all the different ports. There is nothing nicer than getting you morning started this way. We knew that this was our only day at sea the whole week and wanted to take advantage of it to catch up on some rest that we were lacking! Dont get me wrong, we are not boring lol:o but for the past 4 days we had barely rested and had just taken in approximately 15 hours of sleep in total. We woke up and to our sad surprise the skys were cloudy and no sun in sight! At noon, we decided to either way head up to the serenity deck and layout to relax for a while, but after 15 minutes outside It started to Rain. Later on we found out through the captain that we were right under tropical storm Isaac and so they were going to keep us informed about the weather and if any changes would occur. We spent our day doing ship activities ( Sea-feud, Bingo, Pictionary etc), playing in the casino, walking around and ofcourse EATING:Dhaha This night was also captains night. So we headed up to our cabin at around 6:30 in order for me to start getting ready. We usually end up buying a million pictures every cruise (both elegant and port pics), However, this cruise we only opted for the casual pics (gangway/captains wheel etc). We were ready before our dinning time (8:15) so we just sat at the atrium bar and had a drink before heading to the dinning room. For Dinner that night I had the salmon & also lobster. My bf is allergic to certain seafoods (lobster, shrimp, crab), so he had his flat iron steak and salmon. Everything was delicious. That night there was adult comedy scheduled. So, after dinner we both headed back up to our cabins, changed into our comfy clothes and headed to the casino and comedy club that night. BF won $160 playing poker (wohoo) and overall we had a great night. We called it a night at around 12:30 and headed off to bed. Barbados was coming up the next day & also my Bf's birthday so we wanted to be well rested for our day. I took very few pictures the day at sea. But, here are the ones that I did take..nothing special..but I hope you all Enjoy!
ymillo Posted August 31, 2012 Author #71 Share Posted August 31, 2012 Walking out to the balcony on sea day:( As the day progressed..not so pretty ... Some walking around.. Random Comment: So sorry But I honestly did not capture as many pictures of the ship itself this time! I barely carried my camera around with me as Im known to be a little forgetful and leave things laying around sometimes lol this review is more focused on the itinerary itself and all the ports. Great photo shots coming up in the next ports, specially st.lucia & st.maarten;)
