Thanks so much, am588, for taking the time to answer all our questions so soon after getting back.

No problem! I will be posting a full review later on this week when I get home and will try to answer any questions in it I might know the answer to

Because there is less of an incentive for the bar servers to continually bring you drink after drink if the tips are a set amount. With this plan we are paying $6.45 in tips per day. Just assume someone has 10 drinks in a day, the server is earning $0.65 per drink. If someone is ordering the same drink (based on a drink costing $8.95) without the plan the server is earning $1.35 per drink. If I'm a server, I'm going to gravitate toward the guest who is going to supply me with $1.35 rather than $0.65.

i know when I have earned the "drinks on us card" @ the casino even though the drinks are free I have always stillk tipped the server a dollar per drink. I would assume I'd atill do this if I bought the package. Therefore my server would probably still be inclined to serve me on a regular basis.

Could print this out ;)

Carnival Expands All-You-Can-Drink Package to Second Ship

then they'll say that's not our web site, so what...

i dunno, several accounts of the 15 per limit, and most recently in this thread, being informed of this at time of purchase...

it's kinda like the 'fine print' for any advertisement... they are likely limiting the amount of information they put out while it is a 'test program' on purpose so that they reserve the right to change terms...

regardless of the stipulations i would have bought it... would have saved me a bundle last week

That link has incorrect information on it' date=' so not sure I would use that.lol bottled water is not included.

The per-cruise cost for the My Awesome Bar Program is $42.95 per person per day, plus a 15 percent gratuity. Purchasers can partake of a wide variety of wine, beer and spirits, as well as sodas, bottled water and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails throughout their cruise. (Specialty coffee is not part of the program.) However, all included beverages, including wines by the glass, beers and individual cocktails, must be less than $10 to qualify for inclusion. Program participants who want to purchase bottles of wine and Champagne, as well as more expensive wines by the glass and cocktails will receive a 25 percent discount.

exactly... i don't see value in 3rd party web sites...

until carnival makes up their mind and declares the full details, which they are apparently unwilling to do officially currently, it is what it is...

social media is all well and good from jh and mischelle, but until they post a firm policy i think it'll remain a bit of a crap shoot and we need to just keep looking for info here.

Just read the flyer AGAIN and i do not see where it says NO BUCKETS INCLUDED. I do see where it says only 1 drink at a time but the way they have worded everything in the flyer is very confusing. So i guess i will not know the answer until i go in January or someone on here actually tries it. Just dont know why you could buy a bottle of wine or champagne for 25% discount and not be able to get a bucket of beer with the same discount.

Read at the bottom of the flyer here under the "beverages excluded from the program", it says: "sharing cocktails, floaters, pitchers, tubes and buckets".

Sixth bulletpoint from the bottom. Sorry Iamcrzun.

Now, I know from personal experience that the ships don't know their own policies. When you buy the wine package, you do not have do consume every single bottle, you can take the tickets with you on your next cruise, but I have to educate the Bar Manager each time. I'm thinking we should alert JH to this situation and see if he will educate the bar managers to his way of thinking.

I was on this same sailing as the OP and I too purchased the unlimited drink package. I was sharing a cabin with my friend and she purchased it too. We stayed up the night before weighing the pros and cons of the package and decided to go for it, even though neither of us are really big drinkers.

I did not get my money's worth. My friend did though. Neither of us ever got more than a good buzz going. I never saw any drunks on the ship throughout the entire week. I'm sure they were there, but I never noticed them.

By day 4, I was sick of drinking. By day 6, my friend was sick of it.

Would we do it again? No. Do we regret doing it this trip? Absolutely not. It was great going to any bar, at any time, and ordering whatever we wanted. Neither of us even came close to the 15 max per day. The service was exceptional no matter what bar we ordered drinks from, even from the dining room bar waiters. Casino service was amazing too.

I can confirm that everything stated by OP about this program is correct.

We were TOLD at time of purchase of the 15 alcoholic drink limit per day. Sodas are not included in the 15 limit.

Since the program is still so new for the Splendor, there were a few inconsistencies depending on which bar you went to. Almost all of the bars gave me a whole can of soda. Only one bar would not give me the can. I never argued about it, just took it as a learning curve.

Most of the bars, except one, allowed us to get the bloody mary drink specials. Premium alcohol, large, for about $8.50. One bar wouldn't allow it on the unlimited drink program because it was a "special." No biggie - we just went to a bar we knew would serve it in on the program.

One bar allowed me to order a Bailey's and coffee. Another bar wouldn't allow it because it was a "coffee" drink. Again, they are still learning the ins and outs of the program.

You do have to wait 5 minutes between drink orders. I ordered a bloody mary then tried to order a diet coke at another bar. They told me I had to wait 5 minutes from my last drink.

I tried many, many drinks I would have otherwise never tried. If I did not like it, no big deal. I just ordered something else 5 minutes later.

You did have to sign for each drink (even sodas), and the receipt would show the value of the drink (not gratuity). I save all my receipts and they totaled a little less than $300. So not the $345.xx I paid, but pretty close.

thanks for your first hand feedback... nobody really knows the details as they're sparse so this helps everyone figure it out...

and... with a limit of 5 minutes... looks like you can 'make' a 'bucket' of beer in about 20 minutes... lol :D

I would not call the details "sparse", they are pretty specific. What detail are you not sure about? bottled water=no, buckets=no, over $10=no, 15 drink max=yes, sodas not included in 15 drinks=yes, 5 minutes between drinks is a new one but I guess=yes, it all makes sense except the bottled water. If you drink a lot order it, if not=don't

Thanks so much! That is great and specific info! We cruise on November 2 on the Dream and have been discussing it all week just in case it becomes available by then. I would love to be able to try many different drinks without worrying about wasting the money!

well...

1 person comes back from victory... says he saw it... gets called a liar... everyone says he must have been mistaken and thinking of the group thing 30+...

someone else comes back, says they saw the same...

ccl comes out and says yeah it is on victory they're not mistaken... it's a test program...

then someone says they see it on splendor... people say no it's only on victory...

jh confirms the same... yeah on splendor now.

the next week victory cruisers come back and say yeah we were told 15 drink max too...

someone posts the actual card, which makes no mention of a limit... people debate that and bring it up the ladder.

ccl brand ambassador john heald posts on facebook 'oh no there is no limit, it's just a flag...'

people come back from splendor and say they were explicitly told it WAS a limit, and saw people cut off...

no response from brand ambassador yet about misinformation.

i'd say EXACT details are still sparse. until it's explicitly outlined i still say the best information is coming from here. hence why i thanked the previous poster for first hand info... don't see what's wrong with that...
