Has smoking policy changed on Carnival since September 2011?

Yup. The Paradise was going to teach us all a lesson, and all ships would be non smoking in a year. BWA HA HA HA.......

Keep laughing. Only question is which how long till the next tightening of smoking rules.

It is only a matter of time.

BTW, I assumed that was laughing. Maybe it was a smokers cough?

One thing I have never understood about those who complain about people smoking on a balcony.

How do you go through life? Im not trying to be an ass, Im really wondering how you stand on a street corner and smell the exhaust from cars, buses and trucks, or how you tolorate the smell of charcoal and firepits.

Do you move out of your house when you paint or put new carpet in? Those VOCs are terrible for you too.

Not an a...! Are you so uneducated that the ONLY bad smell comes from a ciggie?;)

That's the same thing people were posting before the last round of smoking cuts.

Read about the new smoking rules on the Carnival Spirit after it leaves the US.

As the number of smokers drop it becomes easy to cut smoking areas.

But your correct, there will probaly not be a non-smoking ship any time soon

Same thing happened to the Jubilee when she went there. This is nothing new.

Well...if I am on a street corner and not able to turn away or walk out of the exhaust, I cover my nose and mouth until it passes if it bothers me. Usually this only will last a few seconds. On a balcony I would not have to option to turn away or walk out of the smoke. Also the smell is there for as long as my neighbor is smoking...not a few seconds.

I enjoy the smell of charcoal or a fire pit..but if the smoke is heavy and is blowing in my face, I move my chair so I am up wind. Cant do this on a balcony.

I know going into a casino..going to Vegas next month...that I have to put up with the smell. Dont like it but it is my choice to go there. I know I will have sinus problems from the smoke for a week after it but it is my choice. And I wont complain as long as the smoker next to me TRIES not to blow smoke in my face and is considerate.

Same would hold true on the balcony...but these stupid car exhaust, charcoal smell and other arguments are just silly IMHO.

He wasn't just talking smell, he was talking carcinogen. Nope, can't even cook a steak nor hamburger anymore.

I never have posted that I was worried about getting cancer from 2nd hand smoke. Nor am I concerned about it from a grill. I am intelligent enough to know that what exposure I have on a cruise is NOT going to give me cancer. It might make me uncomfortable or mess with my sinuses if I hang out in the casino...but not concerned with cancer risk. I bet if you poll all nonsmokers (not just those on CC) you will find it is the stench from smoking that is the irritant...not the health concerns...is the majority.

And I agree...those that come on here that say they are concerned about the health effects (other than allergies or asthma) are as nutty as the smokers that say you cant smell it outdoors or what about the odor from this that or the other.

You work in the healthcare industry.

And your a proud smoker.

I think I understand.

You read as well as you argue - I'd like to see a quote where I said I was a smoker - I do believe it says exsmoker - who usually are worse smoking critics than nonsmokers - but I'm also logical.

Or do what we did on the Spirit and fill up the Club Cool with non-smokers.

It's not a big deal to me, the number of smoking areas will grow smaller and smaller as less people smoke.

Your right, I really have nothing to complain about.

Thanks.:D

Well, remember you said you have nothing to complain about if your prediction were actually ever to happen and your cruise rate doubles - because you can be rest assured it will.

Wow cruise rate will double because they make a few more places on the ship non-smoking?

Welcome to 2012, today most people don't smoke.

Stop playing the "know it all" game. You have noticed where the smoking areas are (oh, yes, you know), they are in the money maker areas including Lido, casino, balconies.

Your rates may increase due to revenue losses if these areas are gone. Someone has to pay the price, and it will be the non smokers who get their wish.

As long as Carnival keeps it's current policies, I'll sail. But when the day comes and smoking on a ship is banned, or I travel half a mile to a smoking area...I and others will not sail again. We'll find alternatives. A smoker does not subject himself to a smoking banned cruise vacation.

Now, what's your next sarcastic remark? Yes, you read right...sarcastic remark.

Exactly. And since I dont see too many cruises that are full up these days, I dont see them shunning that business.

Now, if the non smokers wanted to lobby for non smoking SIDE of the ship, I can get behind that. To me, that would be reasonable.

For the life of me, I cant understand though, how when a ship is travelling at 20 knots, they think smoking is a problem... These people must have super noses or something.

I sure how they arent driving behind me when im in my car.....

Yeah, that's what I figured. Thanks, Firefly.

Oh no Mr. Jim Ignatowski, not so fast. You ask an "innocent' question about Carnivals smoking policy.

You get you answer and then you go away.

What about the mess you left behind? I blame you for making all this trouble!

Bad bad bad. Ignatowski? Hmm ..I seem to remember that name.

I don't think many are advocating totally non-smoking ships.

Speaking for myself, I'm very happy with Celebrity's policy. They have no indoor smoking and its not allowed in cabins or balconies. They have specified outdoor areas for smoking.

I believe eventually this will be the industry standard in the future as things are trending that way. Just my opinion, to quote Adrian Monk, "I may be wrong, but I don't think so" ;)

Coming from an on board environment where smoking was allowed almost everywhere, there are so few smoking areas, and it's so easy to avoid them.

I wonder if some have such confusion over the Men's and Ladies rooms?

Regardless of your individual opinions, the fact is Carnival allows smoking in limited areas on their ships, and on balconies. This is the policy.

I don't understand why folks try to ram their opinions (both ways) down eachother's throat. Theses threads just have people going around and around - and there is not point to it. Both sides are will not change their minds. Thank goodness for those of us who are flexible!

It's pretty simple, to me:

If you smoke: smoke in the permitted smoking areas, only.

If you don't smoke: avoid these areas, if possible.

These are HUGE ships! There is more than enough room for everyone, regardless of which side of the smoking fence you're on.
