Eng23 Posted October 27, 2012 Author #151 Share Posted October 27, 2012 So upon finally waking up Friday morning 9ish. I headed up to the Windjammer for some breakfast. Most of days 6 & 7 were spent just walking the ship, hot tubbing, relaxing and enjoying adult beverages. The 2 main events that we did have on Friday were a Slot Pull in the casino and a cabin crawl for our roll call. At the slot pull each person ante'd up $20 and we picked a machine and commenced in some extreme slot pulling. After everyone had finished thier "pulls" we came out about $8 ahead per person. We were WINNERS!!! So we divided up our winnings and promptly began our cabin crawl. If you are not familiar with what a cabin crawl is I'll fill you in. To have a good crawl you need to get at least 6 different category of cabins to tour. This only works if you have folks in your roll call that volunteer to show their cabin and you have a manageable number of people participate. Cabin Crawls are a great way for people to see a wide range of cabin categories and possibly convince them to try something different on a future cruise. Yo know the ones who always get an inside cabin and wish they had a balcony. Well once they see one you know they have to try it. We wound up with a good selection of cabins and some very gracious volunteers to show their cabins. Here are the photo's: Breakfst view from the Windjammer. Best cabin on the crawl. swwake Posted October 27, 2012 #155 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Can't really see the pics well on my iPhone, so ill give a better response tomorrow. That's Julia from brazil on the flowrider. She is pretty good and back on the ship in November, then april 2013. She is a tour guide and maybe the luckiest person I know! I don't even remember the hat, so the vodka was playing more tricks on me than even you :). Although it is highly likely I took the pic. Haha. David always had hats and I have a pic of me in a derby the next night, so it's a good bet that was his. Do you remember Allan Brooks coming into blaze and all of us chatting with him? That was a fun and crazy night! Thanks!! (I think you still missed my post, which is not even funny anymore. I think it was #76 or close. I mention I was born in Portsmouth) Stay safe and enjoy warm Mexico!!

Eng23 Posted October 27, 2012 Author #159 Share Posted October 27, 2012 My favorite Dreamworks character's: The Oasis of the Seas passing us in the night. She's on the way out to Nassau as we head into Ft. Lauderdale. This picture means the cruise has ended: :( And this picture means I'm heading home: Until we meet again Allure of the Seas.........:)
Eng23 Posted October 27, 2012 Author #160 Share Posted October 27, 2012 In summing up this cruise I have to say it is the best one that I have taken to date. I really like the Allure of the Seas because it has so much to offer. It is a beautiful ship, has a great crew, and goes to great destinations. I was able to cross off one of my bucket list items having made it to St. Maarten and Maho Beach. I had the honor of sailing with some great Cruisecritic roll call mates. Al you know I'll see you and Jan again in the future. Susan I hope to see you and Chris again on a future cruise. I hope everyone has enjoyed reading this review as I have enjoyed reading many of yours and others reviews here on Cruisecritic. Well that's a wrap folks. HAPPY CRUISING!!! workathome Posted October 27, 2012 #163 Share Posted October 27, 2012 After visiting the Allure we went off island hopping and sightseeing. The wind was getting pretty stiff which made for some exciting wave jumping on the way back to Bolongo Bay. Just before getting back we went to a fairly calm area and did a little freestyle riding. Higher speeds, sharp turns, and other fun manuevers. Of course I'm not as good a freestyler as Matt was so after the first time I hit the water I said that's it! No need to need medical attention. So we headed in and I was ready for some island refreshments! Looking good, I believe Royal just found their new Ad guy! They can now get rid of the jet ski couple! Eng23 Posted October 27, 2012 Author #164 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Ok, first. I don't think I ever put 2 and 2 together. Did I tell you I was born in Portsmouth, VA? Maybe I did one night on the cruise, but the alcohol fogs my memory. I did not think you were crazy! It was refreshing to talk to someone we "knew" that early in the vacation! You know what I am going to say. I can't resist. "That's what she said" Great review so far, so fun to read and see the photos. It takes me back a few weeks to all of the excitement. And I love the pic looking up from the Rising Tide Bar. I don't think I've ever seen one with that perspective. Here it is Susan! I found it! This is the post you were referring to. I did completely miss it. Sorry. If you mentioned it on the night of the Quest I'm sure my memory was as fogged as yours! :D

I am enjoying every moment of it.:) BTW - I have been on a number of cruises but have never been to Senor Frogs. sleepless Posted October 27, 2012 #167 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Enjoying your thread so far, keep up good work. I was just looking at your signature, and see you will be sailing the Allure 2 months after us........you must really enjoy her. We live in the snow belt area of the Great Lakes, and when we built our house and moved in when it was 1993 we had a Halloween Snow Storm:eek:. So as well as you battening down the hatches, we too shall be preparing. Try to get some rest. Stock up on firewood, water. Be safe Safe travels. Sue and crew I remember that snowstorm. It hit us in Western Michigan' we too were int snow belt. We were without power for a most of the day; we were lucky. Others were without power for days. The trees still had a lot of their leaves on them. Because of this, we had lots of downed trees and limbs. There was a transformer next to our house; it caught fire. The kids had a surprise snow day. kiwiatchch Posted October 27, 2012 #170 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Hi Harold Thanks for a really impressive review, now we are super excited about our trip:D:D George has his eye on the zipline but I have to admit I am more interested in Senor Frogs and trying a bushwacker.:D Do you know if there was any age/height restriction on the zipline? Our Saturday is over and off to bed so no doubt your day is just starting. Have a good one and stay clear of the hurricane! Sherie

There was a minimum height and weight requirement for the zipline. IIRC the minimum weight was 75 pounds but I do not remember the height as I obviously met that requirement. If George has grown any since I last saw him he should have no problems with the zipline. I do plan on staying clear of the hurricane. I am evacuating to Cancun, Mexico and the Riviera Maya today! :)

ronandcarla Posted October 27, 2012 #173 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Day 5 is in St. Maarten. I'm sure most poeple know that this island is jointly controlled by the Netherlands and France. My entire reason for visiting St. Maarten is to go to the airport and watch the planes come in over the fence. I'm pretty much an aviation geek and I love flying. For someone like me going to St. Maarten is like a pilgrimage of sorts (a bucket list item for me). So that pretty much sums it up for me on how I am spending my day. :) Maybe you already know, but anyway, if you go to airliners.net you can get all of the airports thru-out the world for their take off/landing photos. As a matter of fact this computer at home as the one at work my face page on each one have a different background scenery of the famous landing photos. We are longtime RCCL customers and also St Martin land guests. Our next trip in February, instead of a cruise we are going back to St. Martin for a week. Thanks for your great report. Az's Cruising Nana Posted October 27, 2012 #175 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Hi Harold, Thanks for the great review and pics. April cannot come soon enough and great reviews like this just keep the excitement barely contained!!! I know with dining being subjective that this is a loaded question but we have booked a 3 specialty dining pkg. The first @ Chops had to be prebooked on night one or two. We picked night two any thoughts on when we should think about booking the other two?? We hear the last night in the dining room is would be a good one. Any suggestions??? Stay safe and dry this weekend again thanks for the fabulous review, Sue
