Wow, those pictures are amazing... I just decided I need a waterproof camera lol.

I had a quick question on the subject of snorkeling... In Roatan, I would like to go kayaking and snorkeling. Is this something I can do from Mahogany Beach or would I need to go somewhere else? If I need to go somewhere else, how easy is it to get to and how expensive would it be?

We are on the conquest next year and we are avid snorkelers. But there are some places you dont want to have to book an excursion if you dont have too. It appears that we wont be booking one in Mahogany bay !!!! Thanks for all the great pics and info ..you made our decision very easy for this port ... ohh and the food porn is great too!!!!!

I think you can from Mahogany Beach, but don't know the costs. I don't remember seeing the clear kayaks but they might have some.

I thought the snorkeling at Mahogany Beach was good and you can't beat the price Honestly though, I think there is better snorkeling available, particularly if you are experienced. There would be costs and travel involved, obviously. The reef around Tabyana Beach comes to mind.

I still have lots of exploring to do at Mahogany Beach, so think I will be snorkeling there again for the next cruise or two that visits.

Thanks, that really helps! I think we'll probably bring our own snorkel gear, and look into renting a kayak if its not too expensive. Anything to save money lol.

Again, great pics!

Hey, I want to ask you a question, being the seasoned cruiser that you are....

What is your favorite ship so far and why?

Surely you've answered this before, but as a newbie to Carnival, I would like to have some insight on our next Carnival cruise (with hope!).

We live in Wyoming so no matter where the ship is stationed, we have far to travel, so location of ship isn't a concern. I am more interested in quality and fun factor; ports are not a huge importance.

Just your opinion would be greatly appreciated. :)

Actually I usually don't answer questions like this because so much is subjective. Two people can be on the same ship and cruise and report completely different experiences. I usually just post lots of pictures so people can see what my experience was and they can decide if it is for them or not.

My favorite ship is whichever one I am on, or if not on a cruise, whatever the last one was. At the end of the day, it is really your attitude that determines your experience and satisfaction.

To me, a ship is not my destination, but is just part of the whole experience and only part of what I consider. I do take ports into consideration. I take ship staff that we know into consideration.

Based on almost nothing other than a few words you posted, I think your best bet would be one of the newer, bigger Carnival ships - Carnival Dream, Magic, or Breeze. Right now I think Breeze is pricey. But they are the ships with the most stuff and I guess opportunity for fun.

There are no Carnival ships that I avoid.

Hope this helps!

We will be on this cruise. Are you getting married before the ship leaves or during the cruise?

We have been on the conquest only once before and it was in Galveston at that time.

You're welcome. Carnival does have an excursion that includes a kayak.I think the price is for two.

The flying chairs are $12pp, not sure what the clam shell costs, or the float... If you don't want all that no need to pay for it.

Loving all the pics and can't wait for the rest. We cruised on the Conquest in September and will again in a month. We do a vacation cruise, just the 2 of us, in September and then cruise the same ship with a group in February. I do a scavenger hunt for my group (medical coders - CEU classes on the sea days), so this was helpful to get my bearings with the 2.0 changes.

Maybe next time I will try some of the food there, but my ship was calling and I wanted to shower and change anyway.

anyway, back on the ship tried a couple of tacos and a piece of fish from Blue Iguana Cantina. I was all good - seriously!

but Guy's Buger Joint was also seriously calling me.

The beach area by the ship in Roatan looks inviting!

We already have an excursion planned with Victor Bodden for the day, but hopefully we'll get back in time so we can spend at least a little bit of time there. The nature trail looks nice too!

I'm really enjoying your report and photos, we'll be on the Conquest in 15 days! :) After seeing all your photos I'm making notes of things we don't want to miss!!

Love all the pics, especially the snorkeling pics. Looks like I'll have to add Roatan to my port 'bucket list.' :D

Unlike Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Grand Cayman, Roatan hasn't been nailed by a hurricane is recent years, so I think it has some of the best snorkeling in the Western Caribbean.

If you are paying for one of the Bodden tours, you might as well see what they have to offer. There are other beaches and snorkel areas, many of which you won't need to share with lots of fellow passengers.

I'm quite certain I missed much on Carnival Conquest, there is certainly plenty to do. :)
