Cabin advice for Azura please

I'm looking at booking a cruise on Azura, as we enjoyed our 1st cruise on Oriana so much last year. I'd like an outside cabin (no balcony) but there appear to be very few of these. Can anyone give me advice on which to choose for the most peace & quiet please? They seem to be close to the Atrium on P deck, or above the Atrium or bars on E deck, all of which could be noisy until late in the evenings. Have you stayed in any of these cabins?

As a general query, apart from the fact it'll take me longer to stop getting lost on such a large ship (compared to Oriana) are there any other drawbacks to this size ship that you've found?

Thanks in anticipation.

If we are booking an outside cabin on Azura we always go for an obstructed view on E deck. We have never had a problem with noise. The obs view cabins are better laid out than the more expensive ones with a full view. Check the P & O site under Help and you can see the views from the windows. Don't book the ones for 4 as these are smaller than the others.

These cabins are the same size as the balcony cabins but obviously without the balcony. Great value.

We had an inside cabin and it was lovely. The drawbacks for us on Azura was the crowdedness (is that a word) when the weather was poor. also, the seascreen at the main pool was on all day and extremely loud. The rear pool for adults only was so crowded you couldn't get a sunbed.

wouldn't sail on a ship of this size again, personally.

I agree with Kersh, we have just come back from Azura and we had an obstructed view (E327) and it wasn't obstructed much at all. Cabin was identical to balcony we had before. If you're not bothered with a balcony this is the best option. One deck down to fresh air on the prom deck.

we was upgraded from single inside/outside cabins (2) to P Deck the cabins also had the pull down beds (to sleep 4) it did not bother us but it did give the cabin a much smaller feel ! no problem with any noise apart from next door was a full cabin and the kids did not understand how not to let the door close with out it slamming all the time..

When on Ventura (same layout as Azura) E Deck obstructed view mid deck is great as we are single cruisers the cabins are more generous in size then P deck no noise the last few times we was on, but last time we was above the theater and if you like a siesta in the afternoon in your cabin you will hear them rehearsing !

Can you just confirm that you mean fully obstructed views, rather than part-obstructed, as there are both types on E Deck. I found the virtual tours of these 2 kinds of cabins on P & O's site, but it seems to me that you wouldn't see anything other than sky in a totally obstructed view cabin.

Thanks again.

Some of the ones they sell as obstructed have great views even better than the ones they sell as part obstructed. We have had both. Not sure of the cabin numbers though so need to check out the FAQ s on the P&O site. There are actual photos looking out of the window.

mike x ftc,

Thanks for this tip. Could I ask you another question? I see from deck plans that this cabin is directly above The Glass House & Essence. Did you have any problems with late night noise from that deck?

Thanks

We love being high up and have been in balcony cabins L215. Next year we are going in an outside cabin instead of a balcony, (cost!) and have chosen L104.

We have seen these cabins and they have lots of light.

But we enjoy the high deck and being at the front.

Look at P&O deck plan for more info.

Cheers::):)

Having asked & received advice about outside cabins without a balcony on Azura, we are now considering a balcony! (Well I'm a woman & I'm allowed to change my mind!)

So does anyone have any tips/pros/cons on Azura's C deck, forward, the cabins are grade GC coloured green in the 2013 brochure.

As we'll be crossing the dreaded Bay of Biscay in late October, would we be better forward then aft?

Thanks for taking the time to help :)

Azura struggles with the number of passengers it carries at times. The buffet is particularly poor at handling the numbers. Disembarking in port can be a pain, and you can often experience significant waits for tables if using Freedom Dining. Personally, I think Independence of the Seas actually handles its number of passengers with greater ease.

Hi Sotonjoe

Little disappointed with your comment, are you trying to put a bit of a downer on us Azura travellers.

Just a point regarding cancellation of trips, I have just cancelled two and all I had to do was click on a button and immediately received an email confirming a cancellation and seconds later another email confirming refund of payment.

Also not sure what connection your comment has with Cabins.

I`ve had a single outside cabin (F306) on Azura that was situated below The Glass House

I could hear people walking across the tiled floor but it didnt bother me too much

Similiarly I`ve had a single inside cabin (F308) which is next to the casino and couldnt hear a thing except people walking on the tiled flooring but again that didnt bother me too much - However what DID bother me about this cabin was that one night mid Fjords cruise was the sea was rough and the stabilisers were out to steady the ship - I kept hearing what sounded like a barrel rolling back and forth, got up and dressed and went to speak to reception who assured me that it was indeed the stabilisers stabalising the ship

Azura is my favourite ship in 4 cruises with P&O and these little niggles wouldnt stop me booking a cruise onboard again - Infact I`m onboard for my 3rd cruise in October - I cant wait !!

Avoid R402 and probably any adjacent suites. The chair scraping across the deck starts before 7am and the loungers are thrown around on deck 16 which then transmits down through the columns.

Quiet time is meant to be between 11pm and 7am but we have suffered noise until at leasst 1.20am then to be woken before 7am the next morning. Sleeping during the day is almost impossible unless you are deaf.

Will keep you posted on what the Deputy Captain does as we still have to suffer this for another 10 days. We are not the first to have complained. Had the same suite last year - and no such issues.

Not impressed - which idiot designed this?

Make a personal appointment to see the Purser and when you meet with him invite him to join you so he can hear for himself. Really, that is the best way to do it.

We had R407 on our first P&O cruise and were moved three times due to noise and vibration before satisfaction was had - lack of customer service mainly and a couldn't care less attitude from those who should know better I'm afraid.

They don't read letters either, are somewhat patronising, and the problems arose BEFORE we had even left Barbados. The first letter of reply implied we were first time cruisers (25+ actually) and that this is to be expected at sea!!

Yes, they appear to know about it, but have failed to resolve the isssue.

The cost of dealing with complaints must be lower than resolving the problem, but that approach fails to take into account the reduction in future cruise revenues or customer satisfaction. Like I said, last year we had no such noise and so something must have changed.

Anyway, I had a lovely sleep for an hour or so when they let me borrow an inside cabin the other day. Hey hum.
