DW and I currently have 7 cruises. We are taken our 8th in April and 9th and 10th b2b in Aug 2013. Does anyone know if we will be grandfathered to Platinum since we will have 10 cruises by Dec 2013. Carnival's website doesn't say anything about if you have 7 cruises just 8 or 9. Please help.

As long as you take your 10th cruise by Dec 2013 you are grandfathered into platinum.

Individuals may earn Platinum status in the VIFP Club by taking ten (10) revenue Cruises by December 31, 2013.

You will be fine. The little perks are a lot of fun. Enjoy your back-to-back.

I'm in the same 'boat', lol. I hope I read the fine print the wrong way. Below (from the link in the earlier post) it reads 'certain gold level' (keyword certain)... is it really as long as I have 10 cruises by 12-2013 I get granfathered in? I tried the number provided for questions but was told help for this topic is only available between 8 and 5.

From the link -

Additionally, certain Gold Level members of the PGRP will have the following opportunities to advance in the Club:

I read the link also and I'm still confused. I agree with you about the key words (certain gold level members). I still think it is only for people who already have 8 & 9 cruises. I tried calling carnival and got nowhere. I think I'll ask John Heald on Facebook.

You will be platinum! We are in the same boat...we are taking #9 in May and thinking of booking #10 in September

  • 4 months later...

I received a "free" cabin offer based on past casino play. All I had to pay was the taxes [$39]. I had to pass because of the dates offered. I have 9 cruises and plan go do one more before the end of the year. I am just wondering if that "free" cabin would have qualified me to be grandfathered in to Platinum, just in case it comes up again.

No, a free cruise would not count as it is not a "revenue" cruise.

You have probably already got your answer by now (since your first post was in January 2013), but all you need to do is check your cruise documents in "Cruise Manager" (you do not have to have all the passenger info filled out), and your B2B should say "PRIORITY" which is the new term for VIP/PLATINUM.

Have a fabulous cruise !

:confused:Does the qualifying 10th cruise have to be started before December 31, or completed by December 31?

(Talking about a cruise over NYE, leaving December, returning January.) Thanks.

Since it has to be completed before Dec 31, why not take a real short one just before your New Years cruise back to back.

Check your cruise documents (Boarding Pass)...if they say PRIORITY, then you will be Platinum for that cruise.

You will need to log into Cruise Manager on Carnival to see the document.

The boarding passes reflect your status. I will achieve Diamond before the end of my next cruise and my boarding pass says Diamond next to the VIPF number. It has a big red PRIORITY in the top right and luggage tags also say Priority.
