Buckets of Beer

Recommended Posts

Celebrity, Princess, and NCL have deals where (with a bucket) you buy 4 or 5 and get an additional one free. Even with that, they are about the same price as the buckets on Carnival - but you technically get one "free". Never mind that you're paying enough for a CASE of beer. Enjoying it while at sea has its price!!

Yes it was just under $25.00. My only issue was that they opened all of the beer and wou'dn't leave the two we were't drinking closed until we were ready? Not a big deal but I'm a very slow drinker.

Me also. Nothing worse than warm, flat beer.

Guess they think everyone has to inhale their beer, so you can have fun.

Looking at my receipt from two weeks ago on the Legend and a bucket of four 16 oz. Coors Light was $23 plus 15% gratuity so $26.45.

Ouch! What happened to the $2 off? You did not get your discount because a Coors Light by itself is $5.75 and 4 of them would be $23 plus tip. I think they forgot to give you the discount.

Usually if you tell the server when you order it not to open all the beers, they will leave them unopened. I have asked them several times and never had an issue.

I thought you only got the $2 discount when your ordered it on the Lido deck. Not sure about the bars or clubs. Maybe someone can come and confirm.

I drink only beer, with the occasional frozen drink in between. I have spent a fortune on buckets in the past. This new cheers program looks fantastic, as the cost of roughly 2 buckets is the cost of the program. I wish they had this when I sailed in June.

If you are on a ship that offers it, look into it if you will have more than 2 buckets a day (for me, my days on cruises start early and end very late, so i'm into more than 2 buckets a day). If you do the bucket route, they will usually open one at a time, two if 2 of you are sharing a bucket (and yes, you can mix beers), but bring a key chain bottle opener so if you bring full beers back to your cabin (you can take the bucket), you can open one in your cabin without having to run up to a bar.

What irks me on Carnival (aside from not getting a free beer with your bucket) if I want a bucket of beer "right now" - you have to get it near the pool. If it comes in bottles they will instead pour it out of the bottle into plastic cups (well, the last couple of times I tried). If, on the other hand, I order it through room service they will send bottles.

I understand that they are concerned about glass around the pool - but for some reason NCL and Celebrity don't seem to have a problem with it...

My husband ordered buckets all over the ship and never had it poured into glasses. Must be just the bar right by the pool? We will remember not to order there!

Correct. There were times that I asked and was told the only place to get a bucket was at the pool (or room service). Other times I have seen them at other bars (assuming they had any buckets laying around).

Tom

I've gotten them in the main lounge for shows.

Question: do you drink beer that is only served in a bottle? because I have never had my beer poured into a glass anywhere on the ship. But, I drink the beer flavored water that comes in the aluminum bottles.:p

Does anyone know the answer to this because if I decide not to do Cheers on the Miracle, I do plan to take advantage of the $2 off a bucket of beer.

If you do Cheers, you can only get one beer every 5 minutes  and from what everyone has said, it's 15 max. So 4 buckets would be 16 beers and it would cost you $96.60 WITH the $2 discount. With Cheers you could get 15 beers for $49 and change! ;):D

Is the QUOTE feature working for others??

I had to use a work-around...

In answer to your question we usually order Coronas to enjoy (w/limes) on our balcony.

yes. for me it is. the multi-quote too.

that explains the glass and the pool, but not elsewhere so i see your point. It doesn't make sense. for example they don't serve mixed drinks and wine in plastic cups in the bars, lounges and casinos outside of the pool area. they let those passengers walk around with glass.

Pricing on the bucket of beers are correct, pitchers of draft ran us $18.11, we usually get this poolside, if available and they put it in a bucket of ice for you, I have even had them put our pitcher back in the fridge at the poolside bar, it fills up 4 nice size mugs.

If you like Fosters beer, you get more bang for your buck at 24oz.

As far as buckets though, we never get them "in" a bucket, we have always gone to the casino bar, tell your server you want to order the bucket of beer but only want one at the time, they will open one and leave the other three in the fridge, when you are ready for another one, just bring your receipt back and they will "x" it off each time until you have drank them all. We don't find it all that inconvenient because usually the casino is centered near the pool area and hey, it helps work off some of that buffet food. ;) Next time though we hope to enjoy the CHEERS program.

Happy Sailing,

casino centered around the pool area? might as well go back to your room and get smuggled beer? no?

I don't understand this either....every ship I have been on, pool was on top deck and casino was around deck 3 :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
