I'm following along with Google Earth, so much fun, your reviews are great. I just finished your Aus/New Zealand review and now this. I hope you cruise again soon!

 

 

Where did you dock in the Puerto Princesa? I'm looking at google earth & there's not much there.

Thank you so much for your in depth review. LOVE the pictures. We will be doing a B2B (21 glorious nights!) in Jan/Feb/2014. Can't wait to have the roast beef sandwiches. Do you know if the Park Cafe had the black forest cake? It is one of my favorite. Haven't had it since on the Allure in Oct/2011! This was the ‘secret staircase’. From Deck 8, near the aft cabins, there was this staircase that led directly to the Spa and Fitness centre, and very near the Solarium and the brand new Park Café! Very convenient for us.

Unfortunately, no. Can't use this from Deck 7 aft.

Do you know if the solarium pool is heated

 

I was on the Rhapsody in July 2012 on an Alaskan cruise and I'm fairly certain the Solarium pool was heated. The refurb of the Legend looks pretty close to what the refurb of the Rhapsody was like, so I would guess it probably is. That's purely speculation though.

The ship was docked in a container port, quite near the city Center. A 5 minute drive and we were already passing through the main street.

By the time we got on to the boat, it was about 1:10pm. This was the view from the boat. This ride took a good 15 to 20 minutes.

Don’t underestimate those long sticks. They keep the boat from rocking too much.

The boat ride continues. We would be making a right turn ahead.

 

 

This was after the right turn. You can make out other boats ahead, at the beach where we were supposed to land.

As we approach the beach, one boatman stood up, ready to do the necessary. (The other boatman was driving the boat)

This was taken from the beach after we landed. There wasn’t any pier. The boat just beached itself and we jumped off the boat onto the sand. By this time we had taken off all our shoes.

Now, we head towards the underground river. This was 1:30pm.

It was a hundred meter walk via a board walk to the waiting area for the underground river boat ride. This was what we saw when we got there. Not exactly happy faces.

Lots of people waiting for their boat ride. Talk about over-crowding!

By the time we got on the boat, it was 2:50pm. We had been there since 1:30pm. Guess what? All aboard time was 4:30pm! And we were far, far away from our ship.

Sailing in, we met this boat coming out. Each boat can sit 10. One boatman, rowing behind. He doubles up as a guide.

It was pitch dark inside. Each boat had a spot light, controlled by the front 2 passengers.

It was quite a sight. The water was deep, boatman told me 36 feet.
