ClassicalSax Posted April 14, 2013 #76 Share Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) The Jewel still looks as beautiful as the day I first saw her 7 years ago - she is responsible for turning me into a cruise addict. We will be on her again doing the repo cruise in a month - can't wait. Thanks for the excellent pictures. As you can see by my signature she's not the newest or biggest but the classiest and prettiest and still holds a special place in my heart. Hope Capt. Thor is also doing the repo in a month as this will be our third time on his ships. We enjoy his thorough professionalism and great dry sense of humor. MrFunInTheSun Posted April 14, 2013 Author #79 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Hello... (Late Saturday Night Post) So earlier tonight I had a post all set to send right after we went under the Skyway bridge.....Yup! You guessed it my phone went dead! What are the odds...so here we are now....At that point MrFun had attepteded to post about going under the skyway from the bow of the ship (Helipad). Great times, there was this fine lady from Atlanta to the right of "Us" that hasn't cruised in 24 years, since her honeymoon, she was a riot, the others to the left of me and I were in stitches listening to her. I advised her she was basically a "New Cruiser" and we loved new cruisers. Anyways moving on.... I made my way to the "My Time" dining at Tides dining room round 8pm after a brief break at the cabin. Decided to attempt a quick nap. I'm not sure I really fell asleep for before I realized I needed to find my way to eat so that I could drink more....Oops I mean because I was hungry....Yeah, thats it. After a wonderful dinner I made my way to the Schooner Bar for a drink or ThRee. This lady and her husband.....but will start with the wife...very drunk at the time....says to me please tell me your like us and a "First time Cruiser", I looked at her and nodded and said I'm sorry I can't say that, this is like 18 or so I think. Then the conversation goes to where I was from and all that crap and then we go to area's and the husband says this town and I'm like.....Oh.....I was born in that town...She's like you're joking....I say....Wish I could say I was..but ...no....haha. Man was she drunk....then I say....hey I was there three weeks ago....then I show a picture of the town center i happened to have on my phone showing the snow banks of town center....husband was like yup.....what are the odds??? So Weird. The wife was so drunk, to funny. After all that excitement I made my way Vortex and I will say that I found a bartender there that will deserve a WOW before this cruise is over. One thing to note on the drink package is this bartender that was new or confused all night at Schooner that gave me a single.. I believe with the drink package they give you a double... Only say that because my bartender at the Vortex started to pour me a single glass then looked at my card and poured me a double glass. My earlier drinks were doubles then the one single at Schooner. Anyways was a great night...great meal at Tides, I had a salad, new york strip and some carrot cake. Now let me say I love steak and I love carrot cake. Both met my expectations. Time for sleep. Byw i made my drink quote for day one. :-) I tried to post this at 1am from my room but I didn't have wifi available to start my wifi connection and didn't have the energy to venture out of my room to post this from an area where wifi was available. Sorry for the delay in the rest of day one's post. I'm a bit buzzed at the moment and off to sleep. I went to the gym last night but then realized my drink was empty. Till a later time "Live" from the Jewel of the seas... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Please excuse any typographical errors.

MrFunInTheSun Posted April 14, 2013 Author #82 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Good Morning Welcome to Day Two. We've arrived to Key West and it's a beautiful day! Last night I was going to sign up for an excursion, was in line then decided to just venture out so thats what I plan to do is walk around. On my last visit here last November I did the pub crawl, since I have the drink package on the ship I don't think I need a ton more booze on land. Day one was a great day and I look forward to what day two has in store. Today's Compass Till a later time "Live" from the Jewel of the Seas... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. aalden13 Posted April 14, 2013 #87 Share Posted April 14, 2013 I agree with you, I like the steel drum music on the pool deck! It sets the mood for the cruise wayyyyyy better than a d.j. Enjoy you vacation!
juniorsmom Posted April 14, 2013 #88 Share Posted April 14, 2013 I love this review. If I was in Key West I would head to any local bar (are they open Sunday morning?) and watch the people walking down Duval. Enjoy your day and the cruise too. 39august Posted April 14, 2013 #90 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Please advise which bars are non-smoking. I'm hoping the Schooner and the Champagne. I will be on Jewel in less than 3 weeks and am so looking forward to seeing her again. Haven't been on Jewel in a few years. Also, is the Champagne bar serving appetizers between 5-7 PM? Any drink specials there?

Did you just walk around while site seeing? or did you take one of the trolleys?
