“Live” from the "Jewel of the Seas": April 13-April 18,2013

Recommended Posts

My 2nd drink. Captains Caipirinha. Very good. Captain Morgan is a very good friend of mine, we go way back. Am sure many of you are good friends of his too. Certainly different drinking this, this way.

Have ye had any of Morgan's Private Stock? Good stuff, like being smashed in the mouth with a fistful of vanilla beans, but in a *good* way...

I've got a bottle of Pyrat XO waiting for me to open it sometime...

Loving your pics of Key West. Looking at doing this itinerary in Feb on the Brilliance. So I have a question for you.

Did you just walk around while site seeing? or did you take one of the trolleys?

I walked and I walked and then I walked a bit more. :-) trolleys were all around though.

My wife Drinks Stella Artois. Can you see if that is an included beer with the package? A picture of the beer menu with the included beers would be awesome if you can do that.

I really enjoyed your Key West pictures. Have not been there yet, but it looks amazing.

We just got off the Jewel on Saturday. Great ship and crew. Am tired now!

Don't miss the 70's show in the centrum! Get there early for a good spot on the railing or just get on the dance floor. We stood on the railing on deck five..good view of the whole show.

At first thought Carly the cruise director started out a little slow..she redeemed herself at this show! Excellent dancing by her and the ships dancers.

We are now pulling away from Key West. It's been a spectacular day here on Bone Island. We couldn't have asked for a better day. Today I walked and I walked and then when I hadn't had enough I walked some more. Toward the end of all that walking I stopped at Margaritaville. I had a coke and some very tasty corn and crab chowder, surely hit the spot. What you ask no margarita or a frozen concoction?? Nope saving those times for the ship. Whilst down near the southern most point I saw Bob Dennard, aka Kokomo man who does "Live" trip reports from time to time along with he has written a few books. I've been attempting to read his book, "Diary of a MADD cruiser". He was talking to a lady, I called out Kokomo man, but I don't think he heard me.

And we're off at 5:00

Thank you for that last picture! Those are my favourite decks on the ship, with a drink and a book in hand, just sailing away. September can't get here fast enough!!

Exactly what deck is that? I plan to spend an hour there every evening.

Quick question about the ship. We are sailing on the 22nd - is there an iPod dock in the stateroom?

No, she has the older stuff as she is slated for a dry dock/refurb some time next year, although I thought I read it may be delayed. We were on last week and the phone was ancient and we had a fat (not flatscreen) TV in the room. This didn't detract from our experience at all. The ship is stunning.

Hello Cruise Travelers...

What a wonderful day today has been aboard the jewel of the Seas...

As noted earlier and with posted pictures, today was a picture perfect post card day. After making my ay back on the ship before all aboard at 430 I managed to arrive back on the ship soon enough for a brief nap..I mean watching cartoons. I then got to watch the last five passengers board the ship.

Schooner Bar, love it.

Not long after this exciting event I walked around the ship some making my way to the Champaign Bar for sunset and a frozen concoction and a martini. By the time I left there was way to late to go get ready to eat in the dining room and it was formal night so I ate in the Windjammer.

After dinner I went back the room and got cleaned up and changed and made it to tonights show whatever its called, saw about 30minutes of it. It wasn't to bad. I'm not much of a show person but would say it was good. After the show I made my way to the Schooner bar for some great piano music, he, whatever his name is and my compass isn't handy to look his name up as I think I lost it.... anyways he's pretty good.

Went to the Safari and watch part of the battle of the sexes.

I then went to Casino Royale to donate some money. I was about $ 8.00 ahead on my first machine, I should have walked away for the night.

Anyways I'm off to have a few more adult beverages and then call it a night. The energy is high on the ship, everyone is having a great time. The ship has a group of folks from Continental Tires on this ship, not really sure how many or what the occasion is, I would assume its a sales reward.

Tomorrow, Monday is a Sea Day!! Wahoo, I love Sea days!!!

Tonight towel animal

Still to early to call it a night.

Mr. Fun, love your reports from Jewel! She was the first ship we sailed on (back in April 2006), and she's still the most beautiful ship I've ever seen! Love her "curves" along Deck 11!

Capt. Thore was our captain then, he was indeed authoritative yet still humorous. Pretty impressive that he's been with Royal Caribbean for almost 43 years (since the company first started). I look forward to the opportunity to sail again on Jewel of the Sease, but until then, we all have your fine updates to savor.

Haha, this reminds me of one of my favorite lines from one of my favorite Jimmy Buffet songs, "the need to focus never arose".
