Breakaway's Blue Ocean now 49$ !!

Can't recall where (if?) I saw it, so can anyone direct me to the late night (O'Sheehan's) menu?

you cannot sit there and seriously believe they're basing their food decisions, that will last for a very very long time, on the first two weeks of sailing. this was a monetary decision, there is no way to argue otherwise

I'm saying that if a few are ordering an item overall, not just on this sailing, then they probably took it off their menu. I don't think they would be saving much money by taking chicken tenders off the late night menu (since they are apparently available on the other menu), if that is what they had in mind. i agree that is why food is typically pulled from a menu at a restaurant. the only reason to pull it on here though is money. maybe its a trial to see how pissed people get when they're not on there? if they gut this menu like they have the blue lagoon menus, i will be rip. the old blue lagoon menu was exceptional and made it a viable option for a real meal. now you go there as a last resort or if you're drunk and want buffalo wings and chicken fingers. most things i dont care if they cut on the ship, but when they start nickel and diming us with food, then why bother going on their ships when every other cruise line goes to the same places

If I want something ($3 ice cream or a $5 something else, or a $49 meal) I will simply purchase it. If I don't feel it's worth the extra cost, then I'll probably pass.

Exactly, it you don't want to pay for something on a cruise, then don't. You can go on a cruise and pay nothing more than the cruise fare and the DSC. You don’t have to go to the specialty restaurants, you don’t have to go on shore excursions or have spa treatments, etc.. They have many places to eat, where you don’t pay anything extra. They have iced tea, lemonade and water to drink, which is free. They have free activities. They have free entertainment. You can only be nickel and dimed by a cruise line, hotel or other business, if you allow it.

we've been doing longer cruises, so the first week isn't bad but the second week you are looking for options you havent had 4-5 times already

It could be hypothesized NCL is changing the O'Sheehans late night menu to make people order their 24 hour service to make more money?

However, I noticed on the Breakaway pricing wasn't readily available for some things like the Carlos Bake Shop. Everything in there must have been free and at the cafe atrium too!

i wouldn't be as upset if they kept all of the options on a late night or 24hr delivery menu like the pizzas, as long as i had the option to get them.

The "easiest" first step towards that goal would be making their casinos SMOKE FREE. ;) One of the top reasons we like Celebrity. Even though that alienated a few people from their ships, I think it brought in more who appreciated the change. It's not easy to make difficult decisions like that.

uh oh. here we go. wait till the smokers see this comment :rolleyes: ( i agree with you. the smokers around here seem very hostile though and seem to believe smoking anywhere they want is a civil right :rolleyes:)

Or have Celebrity adopt a reasonable smoking policy. We all have choices. Want an almost smoke free ship book Celebrity or Oceania, middle ground Princess and RCI with smoke free nights in the casino, or my choice NCL.

Yes, I did notice on our only Princess sailing (Caribbean Princess last Thanksgiving) that they had a couple of non-smoking nights. The place still smelled, but there was no smoke in the air on those evenings. I can't recall how it was on the Sovereign a few years ago, but our only other RCI experiences were the Allure and Oasis this year. They were large enough to have a smoking and non-smoking side. Sure, you'd still smell the smoke, but it was not in your face while playing.

Too funny!!! We went from $49 for Ocean Blue, to chicken tenders (of all things to stress about) and now it is smoking (again for the 100th time).

 

I do agree though, if they don't bring back chicken tenders I'm giving up NCL and going to McDonalds full time.;)

We were at Ocean Blue yesterday. The food is fantastic and the presentation is perfect. We had originally canceled out reservation after the price was

Increased. Then after thinking about we decided to give it a try.

 

The Delmonico is unbelievable and one of the best I have had anywhere. We spoke to the chef and they get their aged steaks from Pat Lafrieda. The

 

The hostesses, Fiorella and Ariana are

Very nice and accommodating. They along with Ana, the asst matre D watched our kids for a few minutes so my

Wife and I could eat our dinner.

 

Yes, it's expensive but the steak alone is $50

at Morton's and in my opinion was better.

If you booked ahead of time at $35 a person they honor it.

 

The food was good, but honestly we were just as happy at Wasabi eating Tempura rolls on the water front. That was ala carte and came to about $20 for the both of us. At $35 a piece it's worth trying, at $49 I wouldn't book it. Perhaps it's worth it for steak eaters, but I go to a seafood restaurant for seafood and I feel it's too much for the offerings. If they want to turn it into a 6 course meal I'd go back, but not at that price for 3 courses.
